has it been reported how long one playthrough will roughly be?

It's about 20 mins. You play 2 short pieces of the game with 2 of the characters and it was about 10 mins of gameplay for each.

Okay, I tried it again on a whim and got through it pretty fast. Whatever the problem is must be fixed. Got my code and will probably download it later

Seems like something you'd get used to over time, same as Indigo Prophecy's weird "slide the stick in a backwards L motion to open the door" controls. It's a pretty radical departure from traditional control schemes.

Yeah I think a lot of the movements will be standard directions so you'll learn to anticipate what to do without looking. They're all very intuitive anyway.

No I meant the game not the demo

Not yet. The site got hit real hard and is down. :csad:

Found this on another site. I am going try it out:

Guide:

1. Go to
http://heavyrainps3.com/reg...
and register
2. open http://www.precinct52.com/c... in multiple tabs in firefox (site does simply not load in IE)
3. Enter registration info from #1
4. Select continue and select
• Short cigarette (117b)
• Origami bird
• Coffee shop C (it says "diner")
• 117h (tyre tracks).
5. After picking all the evidence go to file dossier and submit.

All there steps might take multiple tries and refreshing. I had 3pcs of evidence but then i lost connection and had to refresh the page.

Hey people in the US on here. use this URL to create an account:

http://heavyrainps3.com/registration/signup/en_US

the URL referenced above is for England as the end of the URL is for GB. I found this out by trying to several times to redeem the code and it not working. I changed the end of the URL, signed up, went through the clues again, got my code, and I am now currently downloading the demo.

'That explains why I had to use the EU store. Thanks for the info man.

I might be wrong, and i hope i am, for Sony and Quantic Dream´s sake, but this game is going to be a huge failure.
For all i´ve read and for all the videos i´ve seen, this might be an amazing experience, but it´s going to be a lousy game, because it´s nothing more than an interactive movie, where you have to press buttons and turn the analogue stick.
If i´m wrong, please enlighten me

Then again, this game should (and i hope) go to the 360, when Natal arrives.
The reason......not because it´s the 360 or Microsoft and all that crap, but because it makes much more sense to play this game with the player making the actions he sees on screen than to press buttons.

Now, feel free to say i´m a Microsoft fanboy, because i know that you want to

then this game isnt for you and other naysayers. The developers have said time and time that this game IS an interactive movie. Thats the approach they are going for it. People who get disappointed are coming into this with the wrong expectations. This wont play like other titles as its setting to offer a completely different and unique experience from the other titles out on the current platforms. This is a spiritual successor to Indigo Prophecy which operated in the same way. What will be the main draw of this game is the strong storytelling and so far from the bits and pieces revealed, it looks very intriguiging. This is NOT an action game. Its closest to a revolution of the oldschool adventure games with a modern twist. This wont appeal to everone and if it doesnt sell huge numbers, that doesnt necesarily say anything against the quality of the game. It's just not for you. This is my most anticipated title of the year bc I loved Indigo Prophecy and really theres no other game that offers a comparable experience. Heavy Rain seems to be more grounded in reality and I think the developers learned their lessons from their first attempt at the "interactive movie" game and are applying improvements and revisions here. I cant wait for Feb 23 when its released

Pretty much what Havok said, I mean where have you been in regards to information for this game? 'Oh, it looks like this!' Well, yeah, it looks like that, because that's what it is. We've basically known that since the first bits of solid information came out.

Heavy Rain does look like an interactive movie, but I have no problem with that. The point of the game is the narrative. If that's not why you play games--if story is secondary to twitch gameplay or getting a high score or multiplayer features to you--Heavy Rain just isn't the kind of game for you.

If you play games because their interactivity offers a wholly unique means of affecting the narrative, Heavy Rain is for you because it's all about pushing the boundaries of that particular aspect of gaming. Call it what you want--an interactive movie, an evolution of the adventure genre, whatever--but it's notable for the level of its interactivity. You take on the role of 4 separate characters and your actions directly influence the shape of their shared story. Every decision you make changes the story. If you let any of them die, it changes the story. If you let all of them die, it changes the story.

Basically, you live in this story set in Heavy Rain's world and the story is king. I play games primarily for their stories--that's why I'm a big fan of BioWare and Valve and pretty indifferent toward Bungie and Infinity Ward--so Heavy Rain is made for people pretty much exactly like me. Hence, it's the game I'm most looking forward to and it is literally the entire reason I bought a PS3 in the first place (although I must admit, the Uncharted franchise has been a pleasant surprise :awesome:).

Not necessarily. You can appreciate games that are more about gameplay over narrative and still be into games like this one.

Right, but I meant in general. I've noticed people tend to fall on one side or the other of the issue, for the most part.

I love story and i can´t care less for MP, so, i would get the game if i had a PS3, but that is not the point, i´m not talking about my take on the game, but a more broad opinion.

I agree 100% (not the indifferent toward Bungie and Infinity Ward part, i´m not indifferent to any developer; but the all "I play games primarily for their stories")
Bioware is, IMO, the best developer there is, i´m a huge fan of them since Baldur´s Gate.
But, a game doesn´t need to be an interactive movie to tell an amazing story, and that is, imo, the biggest flaw of the game, the GAME part.
But, once again i say that i would buy it if i had a PS3

So, what exactly is your point then? That most people aren't going to care for it because it's not a 'traditional' game? Well, I guess the one word that comes to mind is duh. This is basically like an old school adventure title. Those type of games have been out of favor and public eye for years now.

I just don't see why an interactive movie is a negative thing in terms of gaming. I love experimental games that play with the boundaries of what gaming is and what gaming can be. The Path, Flower, and other weird indie "games" that are actually quite low on traditional gameplay are great to me, so Heavy Rain looks interesting to me regardless of whatever new and unusual control scheme it employs.

IA. I welcome games that think outside the box. I look forward to a title like this that wont be the typical and predictable experience that can be found in most other games. The developers are taking a risk here and I appreciate them for not playing it safe.

Definitely. I mean, I'm inclined to agree with Isildur's Heir that there's a good chance people might not respond to it and it might not sell well, but I'm hoping Sony and QD's risk pays off. I think they're doing really interesting things and pushing the idea of video games beyond its current limits, so I really hope they're at least successful enough to keep pursuing games like HR.

I think it can be, since Indigo was. Admittedly, being on one platform may hinder it a little, but I still think it can at least pull off some success as an alternative to other things on the market. I guess I can agree with his point as well, but I think that's just obvious. Whenever you do something outside the norm, and basically in a genre that's been more or less dead for years, you most likely won't have blockbuster success.

After playing the demo, fifteen times, I can honestly say Quantic Dream have an innovative master piece on their hands. While I know not everyone is going to see Heavy Rain for what it is, its probably not going to be well accepted among hardcore gamers, I agree with Havok. Its nice to see Quantic Dream giving us a break from, what I like to call, the "rinse and repeat" style of gaming that we've been plagued with for the past couple of years.

A lot of studios are setting out to make first person shooters because they want to be "the next Halo". This genre is losing its appeal. Sure we've got some great games like Bioshock, Resistance, Alien Vs Predator, and a few others who are adding their own spin to the genre.

But I think as a whole we are not moving forth in the industry. We have hit a creative wall where all we do is shoot aliens or going on trivial quests. Heavy Rain is intriguing because its actually being bold and deciding to do something different.

Sure QTE have been done before, thanks to God of War, but to have a whole game based around them? It just blew me away. The story and the overall presentation is top notch. The graphics look phenomenal and I don't even have an HDTV. The choices you have to make actually feel like your molding the story to your experience. Quantic Dream have paid attention to the smallest detail.

Did you know that if you save the girl right after the guy enters she will be fine. But if you tend to wait a little bit she will have a bruise on her face. I know its not much but its great to see their attention to detail.

I can't wait to pick this game up when it releases.

Day one purchase for me.

Game Informer gave Heavy Rain a 9.5.

Second opinion gave it an 8.5.
