Heavy Rain - Light info appears and two vague screenshots.

Such scenes are featured in Movies. And with this pretty much being an interactive movie and likely being rated M, I don't think it should be a problem if they want to put such a scene in.

I doubt it's really a rape "scene." They'll probably just have a lot of quick, frantic camera cuts or imply it somehow.

Probably something like that. I doubt they'd show much.

Oh, I wouldn't expect them to show much if anything at all.

But I think even implying it...even something like frantic camera with screaming and dramatic music....would get them an AO, probably.

Eh, The Path already implied rape in a game and no one cared. Then again, no one cared about The Path in general. :csad:

Here's hoping the ESRB will get her killed before getting to that part, thus never knowing of that potentially awesome scene.

The ESRB doesn't work like that. They don't actually play the games, they review videos sent in from publishers that detail and show the 'objectionable' content within the game. If a publisher skimps on certain things and it got to retail it could potential lead to a recall

Recently the ESRB started playing games too to get a better sense of context for their ratings and to be more thorough, but it's still largely based on the video footage they get sent by the publishers.

That's good to hear. A game-rating company that doesn't actually play the games it's rating seems kind of f***ed up.

If they didn't play it then how the hell can they rate the product? Coin flip?

You can watch a video of a game being played and judge what's in it. If you see a video of someone playing and they tear a guys heart out through his butt and then eat it, you can tell it has some fairly graphic violence.

And, to clarify, it's more than just a 10 minute video or something, a lot of the ones I've seen are fairly extensive. It does help to play the game for context, but if the publisher clips out everything like they're suppose to it still can give a good idea to what type of content is in the title

Eh, it still sounds unfair to judge a game based solely on the potentially questionable content without the context provided by actually playing the game. Especially a story-driven game like Heavy Rain.

That's true for games like Heavy Rain, but for most games I don't think context is really that important since most of them tend to be pretty mindless

I still see this becoming like Mass Effect.

Where a 5 second embrace, with blurry, top only, nudity...suddenly got turned into a hardcore, full frontal, porno as told by Fox News.

But, would be interesting nontheless.

And, gotta be honest. Never. Ever. Heard of 'The Path'.

GTA IV had full frontal male nudity, and that got by without a hitch. Didn't God of War have full feamle nudity too? And I never heard and complaints about it, either.

So...who knows. Might just get met with 'meh' by the media who've never even heard of Quantic Dreams.

Indigo had some of that "blurry" sex too. I didn't hear any complaints.

You can never really be sure if any of these things will catch on in the media, unless they're named Grand Theft Auto...then it's pretty sure.

That's a bit much. Those scenes always look creepy more than anything else to me, too. The Uncanny Valley strikes hardest during love scenes.

I don't remember being able to interact in the American version, either. I do remember a nauseating realization that I was actually watching necrophilia, though.

I try to propose a good and interesting story whatever happens, including if some characters died. The story changes depending on what is going on, as each character has a specific way to discover the Origami Killer and some specific information about him. It will also very differently structure the game for other characters. I cannot really say much more…

Yes, this, this is what I wanted to hear. If this is implemented correctly the replay value could be maximum

Yeah, I'm very excited by everything he said. I'm surprised neither he nor the interviewer ever mentioned the adventure genre, though. That's pretty much exactly what this is: a highly interactive, story-driven adventure game with an unusual interface that emphasizes exploration between tense action scenes. But maybe they looked at adventure game sales and realized that genre is better left unmentioned to the masses. ;)

Cage's reasoning for making Indigo Prophecy's last act so weird was funny. I'm glad he's realized that he doesn't have to force his stories to conform to what some might call the video game norms anymore.

The adventure genre is experiencing a huge comeback right now.

At relatively reduced prices, primarily on the PC and XBLA/PSN. Heavy Rain is being promoted as a gigantic, full-priced AAA title.

Yeah... we'll all have to import the Japanese version to get the uncut edition. :(

this is quite possibly my most anticipated title of 2010
