Helen Mirren Says Putting an Arm around a Girlfriend is like Ownership

Isn't that the whole point of a monogamous relationship? Ownership of each other?
Commitment, yes. Ownership...depends on the relationship. Some people are into that, but it's a very bad assumption unless you run in certain religious circles, and it typically is one-sided. (Meaning, a woman being owned by a man.) I would say it's a way of thinking that's going out in society in general. Women typically don't ask their male partner's permission to drive or work anymore.

When I rub my husband's back, it's not signaling that I own him, to him or to others. It means that I want to show him physical affection. I don't control what he does and when he tells me what he's doing, it's out of consideration for logistical reasons. It's not because we own each other.

Hmm...never thought about it not being accepted. Doesn't seem like female led D/s relationships are as common, but unacceptable? I always thought it was more like most people just didn't know it was a thing because it isn't as common.

But yeah, that's how me and my Queen roll.
Even in pretty liberal circles, a man not in control 100% of the time is looked down on.

Maybe. It doesn't matter to me either way. It's out life, our marriage, and we're lovin' it.

Oh god, you are so correct. Some of the most obnoxiously possessive men I've met are the typical intellectual, left-wing "sensitive" types.

She thinks that way because she was born in the 1800s.

I see these hipster-ish dudes with their waif-ish chicks, dragging them around by the arm around the city. Especially if they're the non-English speaking variety.

Don't you know anything, terry? He's not "dragging her around," he's rescuing her from whatever culture she came from and sexually empowering her. She just doesn't know it yet.

Its what ever feels naturally comfortable for the people in that relationship, whether it be a 'couple' or platonic friends. Some people are enthusiastically more open to tactile demonstrations of feeling, some people don't like hugs, cuddles, kisses on the cheek etc. and knowing the boundaries each person has is called respect.

Rubbing up against your partner in public is a beautiful and wonderful thing.

I have back and shoulder issues, drape an arm around my waist.

On this weeks episode of Helen Mirren complains about stuff

Helen Mirren complains that gym bunnies have replaced all the REAL men because of the pressure to succeed in Hollywood

Dame Helen says actors are forced to have 'ridiculous' unrealistic bodies
She believes they have to spend hours in the gym every day to get cast.

Roles are given to women deemed 'f***able' rather than the most talented

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/a...treatment-women-believes-s-no-better-men.html

She is on point this time.

I mean she's right. She isnt saying anything new. I mean it's clear that the only reason most people get cast in non comedy roles is because of their sex appeal. Ive felt like it's almost always been like that.

However I think that whole "real man" thing is stupid.
