Heroic Age

Oh, God, I forgot all about X-Men. Big ol' blah to that. Hopefully that was mostly due to the direction of that line. Can't say that gives me a lot of hope in that aspect. But if this does end up being this black-ops, gritty part of the Avengers, I'm sure he's a fine choice

maybe secret avengers is the team Steve leads

i dont either and i have a funny feeling its gonna be Xforce for the avengers

Since its Brubaker, i'm assuming this is Steve Roger's new team. It was only a matter of time before Marvel gave Brubaker an avengers book. I hope it doesnt suck, Brubaker's strength lies within solo character-orientated stories not team books. He nearly derailed the X-men franchise single handedly with Deadly Genesis. Hopefully he'll be handling characters he's more at home with in this book.

Something tells me it is Black Panther. Secret Avengers would imply either stealth opps or behind the scenes and he fits the bill for either.

Plus this image does look like the shadow figure

If it is Black Panther, he has to bring Storm with him. I'd like that.

His X-Men was fairly ordinary (though I've never thought it was bad, which some people have said). He did a great twelve-issue run on The Authority, though.

That pic doesn't strike me as Wolverine (thankfully), but for that matter, it doesn't scream out Black Panther, either (unless it's the female one). If not for that quote, I'd say it was Spider-Man (Anti-Venom, perhaps?).

I'm not up with the mainstream universe so much, but why would the leader of a nation join the Avengers? Isn't he busy ruling Wakanda? >_>

Black Panther pulls double duty every few years. He's a pretty classic Avenger.

I only read bits and pieces and didn't like any of what I did read. Of course, I've more or less abandoned the X-franchise and become impartial towards it. The Authority is much more an Avengers like team book, so that's good

Wakanda is a well oiled machine, and doesn't necessarily need their leader there 24/7. Besides, it's the same deal as Aquaman being in the JLA. They protect the planet (at least they're supposed to), and since Wakanda is part of the planet, it's kinda something he should be at the very least paying attention to. Also, and this is the key to why super kings, space cops, and other people who have seemingly more important day jobs can convincingly spend their precious time messing around with other costumed do gooders, the average adventure last anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days. With a super sonic hyper speed jet, BP can help put the smack down on Ultron, and be back to stamp some s**t with the Wakandan seal by Lunch.

This will probably end up being some dumbass special-ops under the radar, 'we don't follow the rules' team, but I'll give Bru a shot. Has he done any team books like this in the past?
Agreed. Everything about that Secret Avengers promo says "Avengers version of X-Force" to me. And that's terrible. :csad:

But hopefully we're wrong because we're cynical bastards and this will be great. Brubaker's usually good, so it's got that going for it.

Thanks for the info. :) :fhm::fhm::fhm::fhm:

Start the bets! Wanda? Cloak? Sentry with the Void/Wrath of God separated from his being and looking rather ragged?

Actually look at the little spikey thing coming out the tops of the sides, they almost look like the foux wing thins that Exodus wears.

Could be cool. Exodus is a pretty solid character in spite of some of the junk they've done with him. He has a very interesting core concept. He was also dead-center in the last Avengers/X-Men crossover before House of M.

I think it's the Hood. going with my notion that these are defeated villains given a choice to do good or go to jail(aka thunderbolts). why else would it need to be a SECRET? if it's the Hood awesome(Someone besides Bendis gets to write the character woohoo!) if not idk

I'd be down with Exodus

On top of that, the way Carey ended his Xavier/Exodus story, Exodus was going on a pilgrimage in order to find peace and redemption for his soul for all the things he had done.

So the theme would work in a manner of speaking. I know it's a huge long shot, but I would actually love seeing Exodus playing with some of the big guns in a non-X manner. That would also give the team a big time telepath on their side.
