Hey all!
I'm new here, I'm 22 years old and what I call a "closet geek" I've always been into Star Wars and such, and have always watched the cartoons and movies and such since I was little, but my mom never wanted to buy me comics, saying they were a waste of time, and not for girls! Anyway, what I'm asking, is where should I start with the comics, I've read Astonishing X-Men, I had (hopefully still have) the book, but I want to read more! I want to get a better handle on everything, more then what I've read online. But Nightcrawler is defiantly my favorite character, along with Colossus, Emma Frost, Kitty Pryde...I'm not even sure who else! Anyway, hello and hopefully (you wont mind) and you'll be seeing a lot more of me!

Welcome to Superhero Hype, and welcome to the X-Men boards.

I recommend Uncanny X-Men, mainly. The current X-Factor is another good one, though you might want to grab some trade paperbacks and start from the beginning. X-Men Legacy is all about the adventures of Professor X, who's kinda on his own these days.

Don't get all semanticy on me. X-Factor is my favorite X-book.

The new poster needs to learn how things work here!

PS - Welcome to the Hype, simplyshiny.

Thanks guys! I'll have to go buy some when I get home tomorrow!

welcome! i love getting new members....we've been slowly shrinking and shrinking!

id def. suggest picking up uncanny xmen.

A great suggestion: go to Amazon.com and buy the 40 years of the Uncanny X-Men cd. It has, like 400 comics on it, and it's only somewhere around $40. Totally worth it.

Either that or go to Marvel.com and buy a subscription to their digital comics.

I'll try that! I did have a question maybe you could answer for me, I've been trying to figure out the mutant classifications, like in the movies they were saying 1-3+ and I knew there was omega, but then i found the marvel wiki site, and it really confused me...is alpha or omega the highest? and I was under the impression that there were very few omega level mutants...but that seems to be quite a fewhttp://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Homo_Superior#Alpha_Mutants

'Omega' is the highest class of mutants.

Really, it's best to ignore the 'alpha' and 'omega' mutant classes. In the end, they don't mean anything. Professor X is an alpha class mutant, but he's still one of the most powerful people around.

Its so nice coming to a board with nice people, I've had too much experience with *******s on message boards

Stay out of the Community boards, then.

Welcome
As others have said X-Factor is good

It might be good to read up on internet some major X-Men events or buy some of the trades as it will make a few titles easier to understand.

You may come across a few rude people on the boards but just ignore them.
