There should be no in-between; the suit should either be constructed of soft materials or it should be something that looks like it came from the year 5000.

Hi-tech for me.

I won't be mad if it ends up being tights though.

How about he just has a suit, and it doesn't matter where it came from or who made it.

She made it for him from his blankets which are as indestructible as he is.

I don't think there is a wrong answer. The suit doesn't tear apart or burst into flames when he flies at high speeds because Superman has a telekinetic field, which is also what permits him to fly.

I'd prefer if they didn't even address it, so nobody complains about it.

i vote home made. he's called SUPERman because he's super at everything. undoubtedly his mother would have taught him how to knit and sew with all that time he spent on the secluded farm. honestly, Superman is so fast that he could probably make his own suit from scratch in less than 5 minutes and he wouldnt even need a sewing machine.

OR if you wanna go the route that his suit is made out of the nearly indestructible material that he arrived on Earth with, then he used his heat vision to cut and meld the materials to his liking.

Or maybe don't explain where it came from and let there be a mythological quality to it, hopefully.

The you might have to explain why he went with undies on the outside...or ladies' boots, etc. Probably better to just have him show up in the suit when he first appears as Superman, and leave it at that.

yeah...i honestly don't think they have to explain where he gets his suit from. they don't have to show how he eats, sleeps, or craps. they don't need to show what he does at home in his spare time. so i'd rather they just focus on more important parts of his character...

...however, if they needed to explain why he wears trunks on the outside then they could show him drawing inspiration from a famous fictional wrestler, who happens to be the hero of the wrestling world and wears his undies on the outside. it's close enough to the origins of his look anyway (inspired by strong men and body builders).

I prefer the High Tech with Kryptonian origin made in the FOS suit, but now CGI please

It doesn't have to be an armor, just improve the SR and fix its flaws

I agree, there is no need to explain the suit, just make it cool looking and comic accurate and be done with the whole suit issue

How'd she cut and sew them?

Though indestructible, they were woven together like any cloth, so she unwove them and sewed them back together. Any cutting that was needed done Clark did with heat vision. Story's been around forever.

The telekinetic field explanation is just...sillly. The Man of Steel is actually the man of force field? Bah.

No reason to get into any details concerning the costume anyway. No reason to justify how it looks, no reason to go into how it was made. It's non functional anyway unless they use the cape's indestructibility which they used to do from time to time.

its unfortunate that the purists are so completely unwavering in superman's suit that even modest changes are met with a brick wall.

would it really be the end of the world if his suit was tinkered with? that above image is pretty neat in that context. was that from the tim burton movie?

Or....if we're going with the whole 'the suit reflects Kryptonian fashion/traditional garb' such-and-such....just show the people of Krypton wearing trunks on the outside, so it's as natural to them as buttons and collars are for us. It IS another planet, after all. ;)

Attitudes like this is what got Batman and Robin and Batman Forever made.

Exactly. And that is how Kryptonians dressed for 50 years.

its entertainment, first and foremost. there are some very creative people out there, don't handcuff them. thats all i am saying. as far as the batman movies you listed, i don't know what go into hollywood there in the late 90's with a new batman movie was coming out every year with the who's who of entertainment. i don't think they'd do that with superman, that just doesn't fly. no pun.

i love superman, the classic suit and all the movies except smIV. however i don't think that we should drop anchor when there are new avenues to explore.

i have seen some awful concept suits. i have seen some absolutely beautiful ones also. i trust the judgment of Nolan and company to honor the man of steel and ithink they should have a certain degree of creative freedom as well.

What would please me more instead of people taking Superman off in alleged "new" (read: non traditional) avenues is a version that is based more closely on the Siegel and Shuster original and the later additions that made Superman the #1 character in the history of comics. A version that has never been adapted whatsoever. The Donner movies have very little in common with the comics; in some ways they are campy parodies of them. Not as mean spirited as the Batman TV show but camp and corny nonetheless. Superman was never a naive boy scout in the comics like he was in the movies. Was he heroic and noble? Of course he was, but he was nobody's fool and a total adult. And don't even get me started on the Donnor Luthor.

I would definitely watch that movie.

I would give him a fabric suit that he creates with his own technological resources. I'm more of a purist, but I'm open to changing the costume if it looks good. I haven't seen too many designs that I really liked, though. In the end, if the movie is done right, hardly anyone who matters will honestly care about red trunks or anything like that.

if she did, the first time he flys into fire that thing ought to disintegrate...

She made it for him from his blankets which are as indestructible as he is.

Personally I prefer the theory Dr Kline said in LnC. Not a telekinetic field as such, but that anything which is as close as few milimetres from his skin is inside his Aura. And that aura, is just as super as he is.

The only thing that doesn't make sense then, is the cape.
