Fantasy Highlander Remake

So Irons is going to play a big screen version of James Horton, or a James Horton like character.

In the TV show, The Watchers were introduced in a mysterious fashion, where there was a sub faction called The Hunters who were using Watcher information to hunt and kill immortals. Horton was leading it, because he was the Watcher in charge of chronicling The Kurgan and went nuts because of how evil The Kurgan was and snapped. He thought immortals were an abomination and feared one winning the prize, because it meant an immortal would rule over humanity.

One of the most evil things he did was kill Duncan McCloud's priest friend Darius on holy ground. Darius was a very interesting character introduced in the first season, as a former evil immortal who was a warlord and turned good after beheading a very good guy immortal and was changed by his quickening and became a man of god, and stayed out of the game by staying on holy ground. Horton and his Hunters attacked him in his church and beheaded him, which had to take place off screen and had to have stock footage of the actor used for establishing shots because the actor playing Darius died from a brain tumor before they could film his final scenes.

Anyway, Horton showed up throughout the show to bedevil McCloud. So maybe Irons is playing a similar type of character here.

Please be hammy. Cavill is gonna grimace his way through this one while every around him acts.
Its like Man of Steel all over again. :weeping:
Listen, if we’re talking about iffy lead performances, Christopher Lambert left us quite a bit of room for improvement. :o

I wouldn’t say he’s a sure thing to do better, but I can’t imagine Cavill would do worse.

He'll be fine. I just imagine it'll be Cavill being Cavill, likely doing an accent. So, so-so. I am cool with the idea of him doing Chahelski choreography though. If we're getting sword-fu, I"m beyond down.

Interesting, really didn't foresee Jeremy Irons being in this one. Kinda forget that him and Cavill have shared screen time before in JL.

Does Jeremy Irons still believe that gay marriage will lead to fathers marrying their sons or some other sick ****? If so, screw him.

Apparently, this is the synopsis for the film.

Centuries after his first death on a Scottish battlefield, immortal warrior Connor MacLeod lives quietly in the modern world, haunted by loss and the endless cycle of violence among his kind. When the ruthless immortal Kurgan resurfaces, backed by a secret organization bent on unlocking the secret of eternal life, Connor is forced back into the Game - an ancient battle where 'there can be only one.'

Guided by his mentor Ramírez and a mortal ally, archaeologist Kate Bennett, Connor must confront his past and rediscover his purpose. As immortals clash across time and continents, the fight for the mysterious 'Prize' becomes a battle for humanity’s soul.

"I support wholeheartedly the global movement to address the inequality of women's rights," Irons told the opening news conference of the 70th Berlinale, adding that he was also a supporter of same-sex marriage and of women's right to abortion.

"These three human rights are, I believe, essential steps toward a civilized and humane society, for which we should all continue to strive."

He said: "I hope that some of the films we will be watching will address these problems."
