Fantasy Highlander Remake

still say go for butler he is actually Scottish and has the natural bad ass toughness to him and can easily sell the man who has seen some stuff in his life

and he can rock the long hair too

I still say don't go with Butler for any movie because I don't like him.

Butler is a guy who just lucks out. For every 300, Machine Gun Preacher, or Olympus Has Fallen, he does 10 crappy movies in-between. He has such a crapshoot career that yeah, I don't care for him either. He's not smart with his film choices.

I recently read something on Butler; if he's in a romantic comedy it will bomb. He does alright in almost anything else though.

If they cast Butler in this, he'll somehow f*** up his actual Scottish accent because it's in his contract somewhere that he can never get an accent correctly.

I can't wait until Butler ages out of being considered for most action films. I don't personally hate the man I just find him to be an unappealing actor 98% of the time.

I'm hoping for two things with this movie.

1) That the actors they get to play MacLeod and Ramirez have the proper accents. As much as I love both Connery and Lambert, the one who was supposed to be the Scottsman had a French accent the whole way through. And the one who was born in Egypt but had a Spanish name (I don't really understand how that was supposed to work) had a Scottish accent!

2) I hope they leave the ending open, so that if it does well there can be sequels. I don't want it to be like the previous movies where they were like "Oh wait. That wasn't the last immortal in the last movie. The villain in THIS movie is the last of the immortals." Make it a little more like the TV series, where the conflict between the villain and MacLeod is a personal one and The Gathering hasn't happened yet. That way they won't have to try and shoehorn in some stupid explaination as to why there are still immortals around when The Gathering had taken place in the previous film.

Butler sucks I don't know why people try to make him a thing.

How's this for casting?

Clive Owen as MacLeod

Antonio Banderas as Ramirez

Jason Mamoa as Kurgan

This movie has for better or worse lost it's director who bailed for creative differences, lost it's lead who bailed cause they had no director, and had at least three different rewrites with three different "visions".... Off to a great start!
Anyone lost their head yet?:oldrazz: Should they? Or is this all pretty normal?

It's not uncommon at all but it also does not bode well for a good movie either.

Why does he need to be smart? It is a job and he gets paid. Perhaps he just likes keeping busy.

^i know right not everyone has to be picking this indie critic loving movies that debut at festivals lol

some guys just like to have fun like johnny depp, the rock, tom cruise, etc

See, that's Ryan Reynolds, who is at least talented. Butler's got a bad project selection radar AND he's untalented.

I was actually looking forward to seeing Ryan take the lead and actually act instead of playing himself (being typecast sucks for an actor).

dont know about that reynolds is decent but even he has'nt given such a performance as leonidas like which was a star making performance

no matter how bad fans want to crap on 300 lacking substance

cant deny butler killed it as leonidas

Yes, one good role (because of the overracting it needed) and one where he had fun (Ugly Truth). Both not very demanding roles. At least Reynolds is consistent and his performance in Buried was something challenging.

Was 300 and Olympus 'intellectual indie properties? No but they were smart choices for his career for relevancy.

I'm sorry I'm not a fan of your 'non-opinion'. ("He's having fun! He's getting paid! He has a hot girlfriend!")Then Cuba Gooding Jr isn't doing anything wrong with his career, according to that logic? It's a way to make excuses for actors Butler and the apex of complacent thinking.

Ad trust me I'm a fair person.

Why is this a non opinion?

Acting is simply a job. What an actor wants to do with his name and 'brand' is up to him.

I never mentioned a hot girlfriend....that has nothing to do with his acting. If he is constantly getting films that means a steady paycheck. Something most people need.

Picking what scripts will do well and only doing those films is a tough ability to do and not every actor, even the best ones may be able to afford to wait for the next A++ film. Also have to take into account that sometimes risks on films that MAY do great just don't pan out. All you can really do is your best and hope people see that you did well given the material you are in and the people you are working with. Just like any other job.

I don't make up excuses for actors, but they need to get paid just like I do. I'm not going to hold it against someone for doing B and C films in between A films of there preferred style.

Maybe I'm just not a fan of your non-opinion that all actors need to be held up on some odd pedestal that if they are in bad films they are horrid actors.
