That French princess sure seems to have a handle on things.

If Floki's boats are towing siege towers, what stops the Paris defenders from setting them alight with fire arrows before they get close enough to be used?

Maybe the Vikings have wee buckets of water.

I'm really loving Princess Gisla. Her dad needs a spine transplant, though.

Thorunn is bugging the hell out of me. Having a scar doesn't mean you can't take care of your kid. :whatever:

Kwenthrith, there's no way you know who the father of your kid is. Stop playing.

I am no Historian but from the few google researches I did, Greek Fire ( Feu Grégeois, the stuff that burns on water ) wasn't common/well known in Europe of the VIII centuries, it was know in Asia, Byzantine Empire ).

Two clichés in one in this characterization. French Princesses are bad ass and French Kings ( rulers ) are cowards. I'm just teasing, nothing personal against your view which is true in the context of the show.
Note : the King is the great great son of Charlemagne who is kind of a big deal of us French.

Well Gisla has to be formidable if she's going to end up:
Marrying Rollo, a Viking warrior, and helping him to found Normandy.

Yeah, this was the woman who banged like six guards at once, AFTER banging Ecbert. She's slept with so many guys that I doubt that she even remembers them all (I'm not judging, just to be clear on that).

Lol, exactly. Come to think of it, Athelwulf said that he'd heard no reports she'd been pregnant. Could it be that the kid isn't even hers and she's just using him to claim that Ragnar would be her ally?

Loved the discussion between King Eckbert and Ragnar recently: "Do you think you are a good man?" and "Do you think you are corrupt?"

I suppose a lot of you want to see Floki gone - he is a real Judas Iscariot to Ragnar and the rest of the Vikings . . . but I have a feeling he may eventually convert to Christianity.

I wonder if our Viking crew will eventually catch up with the Anglo Saxon warriors 'tribe' that was discovered at Sutton Hoo in eastern Britain?

What on Earth about Floki could possibly suggest to you that he'll eventually convert to Christianity?

Just curious!

He wouldn't be the first pagan or hater of convert to Christianity. I'm not sure it's going that way, but if it does it won't be out of left field if they handle it well.

Have you heard of Saul of Tarsus?

Just sayin' . . . enemy of Christianity becomes its greatest defender and eventually is martyred for his faith!

That has happened. Compound it with new converts often being even more hardcore than people who were born or long been involved and Floki as a Christian defender could be scary.

Yeah but Saul was at least half way there already by being a Jew. Floki isn't even close. I could see Ragnar converting maybe....but not Floki.

Even with precedent, I'd find it hard to believe Floki would convert to Christianity. Which isn't to say the show couldn't do a convincing job, only that they've put so much time into Floki's Odin-loving extremism that it would be pretty far from left field.

Floki isn't quite stable, that's his real trouble. I don't think he's a coward, he's just struggling with what he did, which was flat out murder. He sees signs in things that probably aren't even there.

I thought it was pretty funny that Floki immediately blamed Athelstan when everything went sideways, even though Athestan is pushing up daisies.

This episode was nutso, and I bet it was very expensive! I honestly thought they'd killed of Bjorn for a second there, which would have been a shame. I like seeing Jarl whatshisface save Lagertha, and her later agreeing to be with him on one minor condition. Ragnar chatting to Athelstan near the end was nice, and although it was obvious it was cool to hear him talk about his agenda.

Rollo's back to form, which is nice. I always prefer berserker Rollo to the sobbing, self-pitying Rollo.

Yeah this was a busy, complicated episode and so much fun. This show just keeps getting better and better. :)

heh do all vikings do the 'Am I dead? Cause I look dead with my eyes open like this when I'm knocked out.' thing.

I know, right? It was the eyes thing that made me think Bjorn was dead. I call trickery!

He could have been in shock!

I'd be pretty shocked if I had two bolts sticking out my back.
