The Dark Knight Rises History Check

I'm not usually a complainer. The perma-white thing I was fine with him being w/o. In fact, I was pro-face paint.

The "Ras never wore the green cloak and never called him 'Detective'" thing - same. Didn't Bother me.

The alterations to bane's mask (And Bane is my favorite Bat-villain) don't bother me at all. Nor does his height / muscle mass. (And no I don't think their gonna have Mr. Thau CGI him some more).

But this.... this I take issue with. I'm not jumping to conclusions on the costume, but no cowl to any extent for the majority of the film really kinda sucks for me as a fan. I'm sure it won't ruin the movie, but it just won't be the same. This is obviously the end of the movie with all the players in motion - and it'll just be "lacking." unless she's coming from just being un-masked or something. Idk,

I'll be cool about it and wait, but for the opposing argument - it's fair to say the lack of a Cat-cowl is discouraging in anticipation for the character being in the movie.

You think this is the end of the movie? I hope not. Reason being is that we already have a pretty good outline of whats going down just by the pics that have been taken. From these its not a huge leap to deduce whats going to happen if this is really the end of the movie. SOmething tells me it isnt at all.

Well, this thread isn't really to debate the plausibility of the Catwoman costume evolving (or Bane's height issue either), it's really just pointing out that it's silly to assume things won't or will happen when we barely have any information and lots of possibilities are still open. (I mean, the movie isn't coming out for 11 months yet).

Right, i apologize. And I do agree with the premise of the thread most definitely.

Sadly instinct tells me it is, and I have a bit of a good reputation with it.

I honestly don't think Talia will be released till the 3rd act and this seems like a major set piece involving mass crowd fights, all the characters in action.

It's without a doubt the end of the movie, or at least part of the final action.

No problem:woot:, it's kind of a hazard of bringing up issues as hot as the Catwoman and Bane one are now. The thread can very easily turn into yet another version of the Catwoman or Bane threads.

Damn. I hope your wrong but you very well are probably right. I feel like the movies been very spoiled for me if so. Alright Ill drop it as to not derail the thread further.

I would love it to be a typical Nolan film and start in the middle or end and work its way back with flashbacks.

For nothing else just that it'd give me a bit of a kick if he ****s with all the fanboys and reveals or appears to reveal Talia as the baddy at the very start and takes things from there.

I think that's perfectly fine. See, that's a valid issue that can lead to interesting discussion. That kind of thing is fun to debate. It's the statements that come about as a symptom of the overreactions that don't lead to good discussion "This is all we're getting? THIS MOVIE WILL SUCK!" and things like that.

Agree.

The reason I'm not so sure about that is the Harvey Dent photo ripping. It just seems like that might be a moment to lure out the Bat. And a little Batpod jacking in the middle of all the chaos wouldn't be a bad way to introduce her on screen...

From what I've heard, this is to be the set-piece that ends with Batman getting incapacitated, meaning it would be fairly early in the movie. There is definitely doubt as to whether or not it is the finale.

I decided to start this thread in hopes of curbing some of the very circular arguments that have arisen via the Catwoman pics and the Bane "height" issue. Most likely it won't help all that much, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

So, for any of you new posters who weren't here in pre-2008, I'd like to give a brief history lesson to help give a new perspective on our current situation. The first picture of the Joker is released via the virals...and this was more or less the reaction....

OMG PANDA EYES!
I CAN'T SEE HIS HAIR! WILL HE EVEN HAVE GREEN HAIR!???
HE PROBABLY WON'T EVEN WEAR PURPLE BECAUSE TEH NOLAN HATEZ TEH UNREALIZMZZ!!!!!

And then we had some people who actually proceeded to argue why wearing purple or having green hair would be too unrealistic...because apparently green and purple aren't "real" enough colors.

People were freaking out. And this was before the perma-white thing. People were seriously worried that the Joker wouldn't have green hair or wear purple. That carried over to the Two-Face debates, with people arguing that his scarring would probably be very muted, very "realistic."

We all know how everything turned out. The Joker did have green hair, and he did end up having a purple suit, just with minor tweaks and Two-Face ended up being quite possibly one of the most comic to film accurate characters ever.

So the point is, let's try to not jump to hasty conclusions right off the bat. If you want to debate the merits of why Catwoman should have a cat mask, or why Bane should be taller, that's perfectly fine. But let's try and not automatically assume that Bane won't be tall and that Catwoman won't have any sort of cat-motif mask until we get more information. Because, literally, the same thing has happened before, and it ended up with a whole lot of people looking pretty silly for their overreactions.

I'm not saying that I think Bane will be shot to look bigger, or that Catwoman's costume will evolve, because there is every chance that these things won't happen. But there's every chance they could at this point as well. We just don't know. So let's try and not jump to conclusions, and actually have discussions on aspects of the film...instead of just filling forums with random statements like "OH MY GOD THIS IS GOING TO SUCK!" because...that's just not very fun.

If Marion weren't gallaprancing around in her Talia outfit, i'd be inclined to agree. But her and Gordan being there leads me to believe this is his comeback.

Not to mention - he looks like he's kicking the living ***** out of Bane on those steps.

More than likely the rain fight we saw in the trailer is where he gets taken out and the snow fight is the come back.

So.. Basically what we'd have then is ra's and talia twists at the end of the first and 3rd films. I'm not sure how to feel about that at all.

But so many Hypesters pride themselves on being Olympic class conclusion jumpers.

See that's another thing, though. If Marion as Talia was some huge third act reveal I don't think he'd be flaunting her around like this and he'd be recycling a plot move from Begins to a T.

Just a gut feeling is that this is more along the lines of the chase/semi-flip from TDK in terms of when it occurs in the story.

You know I remember when people on this board were saying "Why does he have scars" "I don't like him" "Why wasn't he Red Hood first" On and on it went then we hit the midnight showing and bam a dark bad@$$ Batman that made Batman & Robin seemed like it never happened. Nolan, will explain what is going on with Cat and Bane like he explained it in BB and TDK that's the type of director he is!

This is the greatest post I've ever read on these boards. I concur 100%

I love how people assure themselves that Bane and Catwoman won't suck just because people were wrong about their initial reactions to the Joker. That was 2007, this is 2011, things change. Go on and assume that this film will naturally follow TDK in every way, I hope you set yourselves up for disappointment. Time will tell, nobody can predict the future. It'll either be crap, mediocre or a great movie.

I don't think with this thread people are trying to assure themselves it won't suck due to what happened in the past,
the point being made is merely that it is possible we'll get a different look at Catwoman later on that will change the minds of many who have reacted negatively.

Not that it will stop the endless complaining, but I like where your head's at.

This had been said countless times by myself and others, only to be drowned out by ignorance and irrational thought.

It's good to see it in thread form. It needs to be said.
