Home Alone Remake is Official

Who was even asking for Home Alone to come back? That series is a product of the 90s and just doesn't work in 2021. Home Alone 2 at least tried to shake things up with Kevin having to fend for himself in New York, but everything afterwards seemed to want to focus on variations of what the first movie did to less and less returns and release windows. 3 was theatrical, 4 was a crummy TV movie that was indeed to be a pilot for a TV show that never happened, and 5 was STDVD.

Disney doesn't need to use every series Fox owns for the sake of it. Some like this and Die Hard need to be left alone to rest. I'd rather see Alien be put to use under people other than Ridley Scott (I'm still unhappy with what he pulled with Alien Covenant) and Predator: Skulls sounds awesome!

If you think about it, the end of Home Alone is just a PG version of Die Hard

Have all the moms in these movies all been redheads?

Thinking about it, I'm surprised that Disney/20th Century isn't putting this in theaters. It's Home Alone. The first one came out in November 1990, and December's right around the corner. Sure, this looks dead on arrival, but I'd think that Disney would want to make a quick holiday buck. Want a a holiday movie for the whole family? Home Alone sounds like a surefire bet.

They'd at least have some form of brand security with the Home Alone name, even though this looks absolutely horrid. I'm not saying this should because it would probably blow up in Disney's face, but I'm surprised is all. Though I wonder if that's Disney's call or Fox's.

This... doesn't look good. But I'm probably going to end up watching it for the sake of Archie Yates. Nick Frost Jr. deserves better than this after stealing the show in Jojo Rabbit.

I was genuinely speechless after watching that trailer. And not in a good way.
The dialogue is exactly the same in some places, they even dressed the mother in the same clothes!!
Isn't thatthe kid from JoJo Rabbit? He deserves better than this.

This maybe most hot garbage movie made in this decade to come. This looks so bad I wouldnt even release it on streaming service.

Ah, but they met as adults in Hot Fuzz. However...they could do a Shaun of the Dead prequel where Shaun and Ed just sit around playing Nintendo for the whole movie. :o
A World's End prequel that's just 'Good Boys' but British.

Also, I'm just now realizing that 'Hot Fuzz' came out FOURTEEN YEARS AGO, which means that a sequel where Davis and Yates play Nick & Danny's kids is 100% realistic with their real life ages.

I didn’t hate it. But it felt like a cheap TV movie more than anything like a feature film. It definitely isn’t going to be a classic anytime soon.

The whole movie we are led to believe the new Kevin is a thief who stole a rare doll from the burglars’ house, which is why they they are trying to get it back and break in. So not really making him a likable kid and the bad guys very sympathetic. We hardly spent any time with new Kevin and most of the movie is from the crooks point of view.

I wasn't aware the remake was a Disney + original...always thought it was going to be a major theater release. Not at all what I was expecting, and a hard pass of course.

That's such an easy joke to make. If this were a Deadpool movie or 22 Jump Street, there'd be some cleverness, but here? They might as well wink and nod to the camera.

X-Men Apocalypse made the same kind of joke. And it was the worst one, until they made Dark Phoenix
