Horror Comics Thread

Ted White's in his eighties now and definitely not what he was back in 1984. He was the scariest Jason by far, IMO.

Has anyone else here read any of the Nightmare on Elm Street comics?

I've read some of those. The Wildstorm ones were okay but could've been better.

I liked the Nightmares on Elm Street run by Innovation where it pretty much tied up all of the movies pre-Freddy's Dead

I read the Innovation comics, they were pretty good. Definitely worth tracking down, IMO.

I have, they were pretty good. Back in the late 80's Marvel had a series of Nightmare On Elm Street Comics. I have issue #1. It didn't last too long though, only three or four issues I think.

Does anyone remember Flinch? It was a great horror anthology series. It didn't last for very long, unfortunately. I found some of my old issues while I was cleaning out a bookshelf the other day.

There's not a lot of information on it. As I said, the series didn't last very long and I don't think it was too popular. But it really was good. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to find every issue online. Some are better than others.

I think I've read every issue that was released, but that was several years ago and the only story I remember clearly--other than the ones I re-read when I found my comics-- was one illustrated by Bruce Timm. I recommend that one, if you can find it (I'm sure it's online somewhere). As for the issues I re-read, the contributions from Garth Ennis, Ty Templeton and Mark Wheatley are good.

I really enjoyed the 30th Aniversery issue of Halloween. I also like the First Death Of Laurie Strode story arc as well. Unfortunately it looks like there might not be a 3rd issue.

I got the third issue of FVJVA: The Nightmare Warriors earlier and will read it later.

I got done reading the third issue, I think I need to wait for the other three to judge this story overall, but it is a little over the top in the third issue, but I guess that's to be expected.

Jason is reverted to a human form again near the end, looking close to how he did in the reboot. Apparently, the demons regenerate him back to his human state of being. I HATE the long hair look he has though, which seems to be the new thing for Jason these days, long hair.

Not really. He had long hair in Friday The 13th Part 2 when he first appeared. They didn't make him bald until part 3 when he got his hockey mask.

The long hair looks ridiculous with the hockey mask though, IMO. It worked in Part 2 but not so much the other times.

Very true. I don't think he would've looked as good in Part 3 and up if he still had hair. Besides, giving him hair in Part 2 was a little inconsistant since he was bald in Part 1.

I was just pointing out it isn't new.

I always chalked up the ending of Part 2 as being a nightmare Ginny had with her vision of what she always thought Jason looked like, and that Part 3 is his actual facial appearance.

Just read part 3 of FVJVA. It was okay. Hopefully it gets better as it goes on.

Yeah, at first I was kind of annoyed that someone beat me to the punch of using horror movie survivors, but I'm glad it's in a total different manner than how I'm doing it.

But yeah I'm enjoying the run so far. Not sure how I feel about the Jason makeover.

I had an idea for a movie where the survivors of F13 2, 3, 4, and 5 all get together in a support group and head back to Crystal Lake in order to "face their demons" and end up battling Jason again.

While I'm glad they decided to do away with the Zombie Jason bit, I must admit his new look isn't the greatest.

Who the hell is this empathic chick who just got killed. Is she from one of the comics? Because I just don't remember her from any of the movies. They've got Tommy from #4-6, Tina from #7, Alice & Jacob from Elm Street #5, Freddy's daughter from Freddy's Dead, and Ash. But that other girl I just don't recall where she's from.

She's Renny, the girl with the dog from Jason Takes Manhattan. I never knew she had empathy powers, unless they added that in the comic.

I don't think they said anything about her being an empath in the movie. She did constantly see visions of Jason, but it's hard to tell if she was halucinating or if Jason was teleporting in and out of her line of sight. Maybe that was supposed to be her "empathy power". If it was, it was really badly done.
