Horror Comics Thread

So was all of Jason Takes Manhattan.:hehe:

True. I rarely watch it, if ever because it was so badly done. But at least in #7 (which is almost as bad) they establish that Tina has telekinetic powers, as well as psychic powers (seeing Jason's murders as they're happening or sometimes before). Maybe the comic writers got the two girls confused and made one a telepath the other an empath, when in fact Tina was both.

I would recommend checking out Return to Wonderland by Zenescope. The follow up Beyond Wonderland wasn't quite as good, but was still worth reading. They just recently released Escape from Wonderland, but after one issue its hard to say if it's going to be good or not. Also the monthly Grimm Fairy Tales has had some decent issues as well. I've also been reading Garth Ennis Crossed and it is a pretty crazy book. I wouldn't recommend Crossed if you are easily offended. It was almost to much for me the first few issues, but I stuck with it and now I'm eager to see how the book ends.

I got the fourth issue of FVJVA: TNW earlier today and will read it later.

I got done reading it earlier, wow, all I have to say is the last two issues better make up for this one big-time because now the story is getting plain pathetic and ridiculous. If you thought the last few F13 sequels went overboard with the supernatural stuff, this will make your head roll, and some of the dialogue is just plain bad even by slasher movie standards.

Jason still looks absolutely ridiculous with his glam rocker long hair, and the opening nightmare where Freddy is a robot that suspiciously looks like the movie version of Megatron is questionable at best.

Issues 1 and 2 weren't bad but so far Issues 3 and 4 are downhill. TNW better pick up with the last two.

Picked up the first issue of Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash: The Nightmare Warriors the other day and read it, not bad if a bit short. I hope the remaining five issues are good.

Bats And Hornets, Halloween: Nightdance wasn't bad, recommended if you're a big fan of Halloween/Michael Myers.
I liked to Friday 13th one too. And I also agree it was short. I'd like the writers just to put it into one, enjoyable graphic novel.

I finally got around to reading Issue 5 of TNW and it's not much better than the last two issues,

Jason still looks pathetic with his glam rocker long hair and the part with him on the cross at one point was just pathetic (I don't say that because I offend when it comes to that material either, far from it, but the way it looked, with Jason human and wearing only a loin cloth, it's as ridiculous as it sounds). The bit with Stephanie Kimble wearing his mask and becoming a female version of Jason of sorts? As lame as it sounds. The dialogue is even more rotten in this issue and that's saying something.

All in all, I don't have much hope for the last issue being any better. A shame, for the first FVJVA was fun and the first two issues of the sequel weren't too bad, before the next ones went downhill badly.

Here's a horror WEBcomic I make for Zudacomics.com. I don't know if that works for this thread or not.lol But you can check it out at www.lilyofthevalleycomic.com.

It's a love story for the over and under medicated, the disenchanted, the excessively violent, and the soft spoken. About a teenage girl who kills people in her home town to cope with mental struggles, as she falls in love with an odd forest dwelling boy who's been taking all the blame for it.

Not very recent by I really liked The Evil Dead comic books, and also Marvel Zombies 4.

Has anyone checked out Creepy? My comic shop got a new issue in stock for me (the Dark Horse re-release of course) and I'll pick it up later. It seems like a pretty cool comic, if a bit overpriced for a single issue. I love any kind of Horror anthology, so it sounds up my alley.

The new Creepy book is really good. The price may seem overpriced, but it's 5 bucks for 48 pages with NO ADS! You get a full 48 pages of story with no crappy advertisements. It's worth every penny. It's also quarterly, so 5 bucks on a quality book 4 times a year is worth it.

I forgot to pick it up yesterday when I was around the strip mall where my comic shop is. I'll pick it up next time I'm around there.

im not big on comics and ever read a comic book in my life but im am sorta interested. so heres my question out of all the comis yall mentioned how come no one has mentioned the GRIM FAIRY TALE COMICS!?. also did yall know thers going to be a hack/slash movie?

heres the hackslash myspace page http://www.myspace.com/hack_slash

now back on the girm fairy tales no ones heard of those? thers a bunch of those comics

I love the Grimm Fairy Tale comics(Have all of them, including annuals/specials), but I don't really consider them horror.

I finally picked up and read the last issue of FVJVA: The Nightmare Warriors. The last issue is... anti-climactic and dumb, to put it mildly. What a shame the sequel turned out so bad, I enjoyed the original but this sequel was just lame and weak all-around. Count me out of a third one if it'll be this bad.

I haven't caught it yet, but makes me feel better about my horror movie mix-up.:yay:

so how many grim fairy tale comics are ther?

I believe the ongoing series has released 43 issues to date. There is also the Wonderland series of books that is ongoing which is part of the Grimm Fairy Tale line.

I really enjoy the Grimm Fairy Tale books as well Majik. I'm not sure if everyone would consider them horror or not, but I think if someone were to enjoy horror comics they would find things to like in this series. I highly recommend the Return to Wonderland story arc. I thought it was a really good dark take on the Alice in Wonderland story.
