Hotshot creators that you're just not into.

Mark Millar
Frank Miller
Grant Morrison
Brian Michael Bendis

I hate none of these guys, but I'm not a fan of their work. Millar and Miller only seem to get the violence part of a grim story. Morrison's just way too confusing to understand. Bendis can do some great stuff, but his writing style gets obnoxious at times.

Why Kirby? His artwork was pretty dynamic and unique for the time period, and there's evidence that he did much more than just art while he was paired with Stan. The man's worthy of the respect afforded.

I have to agree with you there.

Mark Millar, Frank Miller, Jeph Loeb and Brian Michael Bendis come to mind right off. Not that I guess I dislike any of them, except maybe Loeb, but I've often found a lot of thier stuff overrated.

Especially Millar, I mean I have enjoyed some of his stuff like his Ultimates runs, but some of his other stuff is just crap to me.

Grant Morrison

I'm not a fan of his "weird for the sake of weird" approach. I like some of his work, but I think he is grossly overrated. And despite what the Morrison fans may say, I think his writing works best when he's on an established property as opposed to his own creations.

That's not weird for the sake of weird, that's just all the drugs taking a toll

BENDIS

GEOFF JOHNS if that's even how you spell it(what an A**HOLE)

I ALSO DESPISE WHOEVER killed Vic Sage & turned Montoya into the Question

I have to agree with those who say Frank Miller. 300 and Sin City to me are both boring, hollow examples of what's wrong with comics, and what has been for 20-25 years; being dark doesn't make something great. He has a few great Batman stories, but honestly, I fail to see what's so special about him.

I found the movies enjoyable but not enough to make me want to read the comics.

I still say the Sage-Montoya transition was the most believable passing of a superhero identity done at DC since Wally West became the Flash. It was ruined only by the fact that Renee spent all of her time with the one-note LesBat, and that she's done almost nothing since 52 ended.

That aside, I've really gotta say Grant Morrison isn't as awesome as he or Dan DiDio thinks he is.

I've gotten used to Questoya, but I'd still prefer Vic back. I was just getting into him after JLU and the early part of 52 before they killed him off.

Me too. Thankfully, DC has been releasing the old Question series in trades since 52 ended.

Dan Slott.

I don't understand his appeal. Off the top of my head, I've been unimpressed with his spider-man and his She-hulk and it astounds me when people say,"I'll read anything Slott does" and I'm thinking...why? Slott is the definition of underwhelming.

Frank Miller is also now an onetrick pony. Him and his god-damn Batman:woot:

Think I'll take Grant Morrison off my own list. Yeah, his work can be "out there," but I've come to appreciate how multi-layered his stories are.

With the exception of Year One, Frank Miller's Batman stuff blows.

Dan Slott isn't the end-all/be-all of comic book writers, but he is a very solid writer who, until recently, was a bit of an underdog. The problem with being an underdog with a vocal & loyal fanbase is that the moment you become a topdog, you're suddenly overrated. It's impossible to live up to all the hype.

I liked Slott's She-Hulk and I'm about to start reading his Mighty Avengers, but even I don't love him enough to pick up a Spider-Man book these days.

I was pretty much going to post the same thing. :funny:

Though I still don't care for The Invisibles.

Grant Morrison stays on my list because of New X-Men and maybe half of Seven Soldiers. Some of that maxiseries just felt unnecessary.
