Millar and Gough are leaving the show!

it all depends on how much Michael wants to move on. I hope he does at least 11 episodes.

I think Michael can afford to wait another year to do more crap movies. I hope they get him for atleast half.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....

This is wonderful news. It's about time this bubble gum, special effects loving, one off character featuring, one year play character having guys finally leave the show and give it a shot to fulfill the promise it once had. Lets be honest, this show is the most inconsistent show of it's nature in tv history, and I blame these two.

Finally, we have a shot at long term, meaningful storylines, real emotion, true character development, etc etc. Go get someone like Tim Minear or Drew Goddard to be the show runner.

the show runners were already named. They're the long term writers who been on the show for a couple of years. Nothing is going to change. I don't know why people think the show will be revamped. lol

I agree in my gut but there is this one little tiny bit of hope that I am wrong. This being the last season, they need to make it memorable!

I think the rumors are true that someone, somewhere high up the food chain, finally got fed up with the direction or at least was worried about the end not going where it needed to go, so they stood up and did something that either po'd AlMiles or backed them into a corner so they quit. That's what I'd like to believe, anyway. I don't buy the financial angle for AlMiles leaving one bit.

Apparently a lot of people around here have different opinions about how this show should proceed... Since I liked the angle that the creators gave the show, I wish they were still involved.

But, IMO - it's whoever decided that introducing Kara was a good idea who should be fired. Do we know who did that?

Actually that seems like an Al idea to me, but I could be wrong...

No, is not honest, is not the most inconsistent, there are a lot worse. Though I don't like many things TPTB have done (I would've done five seasons), this is the best comic book character based series, not that there are that many and most of them sucked badly. The Superboy series was pretty bad and Lois and Clark failed too, The Flash was good but not better than SV, same for The Incredible Hulk. Of course, is just a matter of opinion. :word:

The lask of disrespect toward the Superman character by some of you Smallville fans I'm reading is a bit concerning. Are there any Superman fans that actually think these comments like "The secret Identity thing is stupid" or referring to classic Superman elements are "cheezy and dumb" is something people should be called to the floor to answer for?

I mean, isn't there another Superhero character you can better relate to if you think these pretty standard elements are cheezy and dumb? It's like saying you love watching Star Treck, but hate the space and alien stuff.

:applaud

im gonna lol if s8 is the best season ever

Then what happens?

Fans will just want more.
I for one would hate for the series to end on that note.

Don't you want it to end making you feel good about what Clark has gonre through? Don't you want Clark's journey to have a satisfying ending?

A movie of Welling's Clark beginning the life of Superman is the only TRUE satisfactory ending.

it amazes how many people complain about the show and then say they want more after season 8. A Smallville movie? Not going to happen. I don't there's enough of an audience to warrant a Smallville movie. If season 8 is the best season of the show, then that's great. That means the show went out on top. It shouldn't mean that we need another season, though. Then it would go into Lois and Clark territory and we've already been there.

PLEASE!! :whatever:
I wish NOT for Smallville the movie.
I want a SUPERMAN film starring: Mr. Welling as Big Blue. PERIOD!!!
Now, whatever journey the creative team take us on story wise, it's up to them. They would not be confined to the Smallville story arcs, which are a mess in my opinion.
As a consumer of Warner Brother's movie and television products and a Fan of SUPERMAN aka Kal-EL aka Clark Kent.
I DEMAND IT!!!

I dont know if its a good thing or bad thing because the dudes who will take over have been running the show the past 4 years anyway. Which happen to be years of decline for the show.
Either way just wrap this thing up in one season...

Looks like post-Smallville GoughLar are keeping busy:

Big-screen 'Robotech' lands scribes
Alfred Gough, Miles Millar to pen adaptation

By Borys Kit

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have been drafted to pen "Robotech," Warner Bros.' adaptation of the anime classic.

Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven are producing with Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello.

"Robotech" was a 1980s cartoon series from Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Prods. It was re-edited and re-dialogued to combine three Japanese anime series to give the producers enough episodes to air as a daily syndicated series.

A sprawling sci-fi epic, "Robotech" takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots.

Lawrence Kasdan wrote a previous draft. Warners is intent on keeping the project moving forward, and Gough and Millar bring action and geek cred to the table. The WMA-repped duo worked on "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" and "Spider-Man 2," among other films, and were showrunners on TV's "Smallville" for many years.

Frank Agrama of rights-holder Harmony Gold is executive producing "Robotech," as is Jason Netter.

Things that make you go Hmmm....

Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing... Maybe they'll do better with a superhero type movie than they did with the mummy franchise.

*shrug*

Uhm... What's the deal with the sigs not parsing board code anymore? It's working on some sigs, but not others....

That's because Smallville's main audience are teenage girls who fawn over Tom Welling and don't know a damn thing about Superman, and whine about Clark not being with Chloe and that Lois is a big meanie and stuff.

I find it hilarious that Millar/Gough are so arrogant as to look down on Lois and Clark when they later would start to steal the dialogue and memorable scenes for their Lois and Clark. :whatever:

^ Thanks for bumping an irrelevant thread for the sole purpose of bashing Smallville fans.

yea i hate when folks at times decide to bump up old/pointless threads.
