How can I prove the First Ammendment is really a myth in America?

1- advertisers threated to pull out of CBS.
2- people buy rapper's records.

thats the difference. $

but again, what Imus said has NOTHING to do with free speech. DId the cops come banging down the door to throw him in jail? no. And why not? because it has nothing to do with free speech!

Yeah, losing your livelihood is perfectly acceptible for saying a few harmless words in jest. :whatever: <-- See, that's the proper way to use that smiley!

Imus had every chance to exercise common sense. He chose not to.

its not even worth continuing this conversation until you understand what exactly the first amendement is and what it protects.

and its pretty transparent that you dont.

Bravo.:woot:

Al Sharpton and his bed buddy Jackson are living breathing proof.

"Freedom of speech is the concept of the inherent human right to voice one's opinion publicly without fear of censorship or punishment."

Better yet, if you two can explain how being fired is not a form of punishment, I'll listen to you. Maybe it isn't me that fails to grasp the amendment's exact purpose.

Jesus, you're like 12, huh? No one who actually thinks they're in a position to properly debate someone falls on the DICTIONARY to shape their world views and opinions...

No wonder no one can actually take your "argument" seriously.

THAT makes it okay.
No, that makes them not get fired. Should rappers do it? Morally, probably not most of them. Should they be fired? No, they're representing their bosses and audience just fine it seems.

while one i would dipsute that freedom of speech is an "inherent" right, even if i grant you that youre still missing the most important part of the First Amendment. Its freedom of speech without persecution FROM THE GOVERNMENT.

CBS, and getting fired from a job, is not being prosecuted BY THE GOVERNMENT.

now scurry off and go read the constitution before spouting off to me about what I may or may not fail to grasp.
