How come Burton doesnt like B89 that much?

I see arbitrary chaos in Nolan's Joker. Chaos for the sake of it.

I'm not sure I see where you're coming from. Are you saying TDK Joker didn't enjoy killing enough?

not the killing but making a grand spectacle of death.

death for him was an means to an end, it was all part of 'his plan' to undo gotham.

There's a great piece of footage from a comic

wtf, carnage and joker??? thats very odd to see, lol.

however, after reading that comic, i still think nicholson really nailed the joker. jacks joker had to have style and be really theatrical when he killed ppl, like the museum scene, he HAD to have music and dancing involved. and he thought of himself as an artist. now THATS joker. nolans joker wasnt bad, but he was not an artist, more of an insane killer, not about the laughs or style too much. which was dissapointing.

this is crazy Ive never seen this before WOW! I cannot believe his comments about 89 at all!

B89 is quite the overrated film...In my opinion...

Dude, search for it on YouTube.

Burton Charlie Rose

The only Charlie Rose vid with Burton on youtube.com is about sleepy hollow and there is little or no mention of Batman.

Maybe you can find it and post a link?

Tell me, are a 14 year emo child? I must say, as a Batman you not knowing about the Batman/Spider-man cross-over is a bit "meh", a lot of "ppl" know that panel instantly. (Plus, Joker commented at the beginning of DC Vs. Marvel on the whole affair and discussing Spideys new costume.)

Also, Jack's Joker nailed some of the parts but he missed the greatest part of all, the big relationship between Joker and Batman the fact that they "need" each other, they're forever forced to play that big duel with each other until the trumpet rings. Jack was an artist but he also thought of Batman not as a deserving arch-nemesis but more of press ****e stealing his headlines.

Can't say that I blame Burton for feeling this way. I agree with him that Batman Returns is the superior film. Would've been interesting to see how '89 would have turned out if it would have been his movie completely, like how Returns was. Not saying that Batman was a bad film by any means.. it was very iconic and great in its own way, I just think it could have been so much better if Burton was unhindered.

^^

In many ways... he did get his way at a number of times.

The Joker killing Bruce's Parents was his idea... so he could often get away with quite alot.

well in regards to his catwoman and penguin, his joker is somewhat constrained....

Johnny Depp wasn't in it.

Sorry I had to say it.

What kind of idiotic comment is this??? If only comic book readers watched comic book movies, they wouldn't gross more than $10 million, if that.

True but they do have a connection, they created each other though.

And I may be wrong about this but Ithink that that element was pretty new in 1988 [when it was filming]

you're right, because that "CONNECTION" is from The Killing Joke & that book was recently published just before BATMAN 89

Didn't Burton say that The Killing Joke was the only comic he read when preparing the film?

Please, take a few steps back from your PC, look at what website your on, then bang head against keyboard.

The connection was established in TDKR's actually. But that sill only means a year or two of that interpetation being used. He went with the classical interpetatio from the Bob Kane days.

In terms of the Killing Joke, I think he said that he wanted to use it's visual approach more than it's characterisation.
