TDKR is about to jump the shark like Lost season 6?

Not necessarily a bad thing. I loved season 6. Just reminds me of how the Lost writers kind of just sprung all of these mystical concepts on us after 5 years of ambiguity.

OMG... stop. It's not the pit, you're overreacting.

Once again, Jak, you're greatly misunderstanding. You're literally twisting all of my words, taking them by the throat & creating your own discussion that is irrelevant to my point. Look at the importance of your topic you're arguing about.... it has very little importance. It's laughable. You said you don't consider a CG pit excessive. Same here. You agree with my main point. However Pete disagrees. He believes it's excess however I provided many examples to prove that is not necessarily out of the ordinary. It's just an example of Jak taking someone's words so literal. Of course you're not going to admit it and you're going to keep driving on the same route. I'm not talking about Iron Man or Avatar here, Jak. This is all about me defending the use of a CG pit in the Nolanverse because I want to see it in the film.
You're the one who brought up Avatar in the first place.

I'm going to let this go, because it seems you are some sort of crazy person.

Jak, once again, you're taking things so literal. You knew what I was implying. Shame on you

Unnecessary insult? Or is it some kind of slang for "you proved me wrong but I'm not leaving without the last shot"? Have a nice day kid :word:

So has that been confirmed as the Lazarus Pit or are we just assuming it is...

It's all conjecture and hope at this point.

dont care if it is, dont care if it isnt, for all we know that pit could be used to bring Harvey Dent back to life :)

why the hell would anyone want the lazarus pit in the movie?

there isn't one single justifiable reason for its inclusion; it's just a really bad idea.

Maybe the pit is a lava pit?

But my first guess would be the Lazarus pit. Maybe Nolan uses it different in his universe though.

Again, it's NOT about realism, it's about believability.

So, as long as it is grounded and supported by a thin layer of logic, physics, and applied science, it'll be totally fine. Not worth getting too antsy over anymore.

Exactly. And since the principals that govern the Pit are based in real science, it could fit perfectly.

What about the microwave emitter that vaporises water in BB? I haven't seen any real life military use that weapon.

What I realized the other day when catching BB on tv on the scene when the League actives the emitter.... not only does it instantaneously vaporize water in pipes, which is pushing it for realism IMO already, but it does not vaporize all the water and blood in the people standing within 5 ft of the thing instantaneously or at all, ever.

Meanwhile, that thing goes through Gotham and vaporizes the water main from a distance of hundreds of feet and still does not do that to humans within a closer range.

We live in a universe where our planet, full of many different complex creatures, were all created from dead matter, so ANYTHING is possible.

Because it's a focused microwave emitter. Focused: like a beam. So if you're not in the line of the beam, then you wont get microwaved.

My "stab in the dark" on the greenscreen pit there is...

- Explosion from underground base from Bane's getaway ala V For Vendetta lab escape.

- Volcanic pit as others suggested.

- OR actually a Lazarus Pit...which I am cool with.

My $$ is on the first or second though. A Lazarus pit, though cool as it may be and would tie together with all the subtle nods and hints from BB regarding Al Ghul, would be a big surprise honestly.

BUT....if Josh Pence is on scene there as the report states - and NOT Bale or Hardy - then it seems everyone is ignoring the elephant in the room with that one.

True, because Nolan broke the realistic rule already with introducing Two-Face.
Not the same thing, because people can be burnt in the way Two-Face was. They wouldn't be able to do the things Two-Face did, but burn victims are a real thing. Immortality isn't, that's just pure magic.

It's not even about realism, it's about introducing magic into a light science fiction story.

Just wondering Jak, what requirements do we need for "immortality"?

If a biological form never ages, is that a definition of immortality you would be open to?

The best way to bridge this and make it work is go back use the Blue flower that he had in batman begins maybe it can be broken down to restore the body just like it was broken down and used as the source of a fear-intensifying hallucinogenic drug.

There are a few lifeforms on Earth that do seem to be immortal, mostly single-celled lifeforms and at least one species of jellyfish.

But humans? No. That's magic. That's fantasy. At least for a contemporary setting.

But it's not even about the concept of immortality itself. It's the method of the Lazarus Pit. You're an old man, or you're wounded, then you get one dip in some green goo and you come out young and completely healed.

It's not that it's too unrealistic for ME, as if I cannot watch ANY movie that includes such a thing, or that I don't like the concept of the Lazarus Pit. Quite the opposite. I would love to see a Batman movie that included it.

But I just don't see Nolan doing it.

yeah having the lazarus pit would be too jarring for me, compared to what's happened in the first two films... but I'm also not interested in seeing the further exploits of Ras.

Unlike some comic book film directors, Nolan doesnt present something fantastic and wink at the camera with a "Its all good folks! Its a COMIC BOOK film!" He presents the fantastical in an unfantastical way. The Lazarus Pit will be no different.

Nolan used fear toxin in Batman Begins.
Nolan made Two-Face possible.
Nolan made a film with people going into each others dreams.

And from the photos so far, if the Lazarus Pit is in TDKR, he will make it work.

If that is the Lazarus Pit, then either Nolan has changed the way it works to fit in his realistic universe, or he has suddenly broken the rules of his universe.

BB and TDK were clearly set in a universe where magic does not exist.
