but people fell into it, not climbed. Unless they use a CGi double climbing down with a rope but that would be lame.

just maybe he didn't die in the first movie and the pit has a affect on the human body.

The logistics of a CGI Lazarus Pit don't quite work when you think about it.

Because? Nolan can't get the budget? Water is hard to animate? Sarcasm?

So what happens when you show someone getting dipped? Wouldn't it be far easier to use an actual pit?

PS: Water isn't green.

Baby Bane should do something like this when jumping out of the pit.

So who subscribes to the current theory that this is deliberate misinformation on the part of Nolan? Seems like a long way to go just for that..

Okay guys lets not get ahead of ourselves. How about we start judging when we actually know what the hell that pit thing actually is. Could be something totally different from what everyone is thinking

yes it could tottally work in Nolan's Bat-Universe.

Aslong as it's presented as something spectacular and secretive and a big deal it will be fine. Bruce/Batman should the have the same reaction as a real person as in 'how is this possible'/'how does it work'

If you introduce it as just another thing("oh yeah the lazarus pit, i've heard of that") or then yes it will be a massive white elephant in the room.

I think those suggesting that it can't possibly be the pits because it will be CGI, or that using water would be easier should consider the location. Nolan can't exactly excavate and construct a pool on such an important site. He was probably lucky enough to be able to get in there to film.

Personally I hope the rumored plot line is true.

I really, really like the idea of it and I'll always be a 100% supporter of the more magical aspects of Batman. Especially if Nolan is in charge who can make it conceivable. I can't believe all the amount of skepticism when this is Nolan we're talking about.

I know, I know, that some say he isn't infallible but none of his work suggest me to start doubting him now.

Well, you could easily have people climb out of a 2 foot pit with smart camera work.

Just remake the wall of the pit somewhere else, film climbing there and for the real pit film with a level angle outside the pit looking at it.

I also think that the pit with the stones is for aerial shots, they don't need a full green screen but only indicators of borders.

But how deep was it on the 300 set?
about 2 to 3 meters filled with cardboardboxes..theres a making of video ...i still think they are using the green screen for another surface not water.....ice or fire/lava something like that....

Like I said in another thread, FDR used to vacation around some spring that due to the unique properties of the water reduced the effects of his condition on a temporary basis. It could be explained like that but more powerful. I'm not talking bringing you back from dead or making you young, just healing a broken back perhaps...over a day or so of bathing in it.

But I also think the pit could easily represent the top of a staircase to a certain prison where kid Bane resides. Especially considering the placement of the green screen.

A little history on Warm Springs, Georgia.

The History of Warm Springs

They flocked to the waters for health.......The warm mineral springs drew settlers to the area, and in 1832 when David Rose built the first "resort area" in Warm Springs, its popularity grew. Later in 1893, Charles Davis built the very Victorian 300-room Meriwether Inn. There was a dance pavilion, bowling alley, tennis court and trap shooting. From the nearly 90 degree springs flowing from the hillside of Pine Mountain, resort pools were constructed. It became "the place" for a summer retreat. But at the turn of the century, the resort and the town fell into a decline.

It was the late former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt who first gave national recognition to Warm Springs when, in 1924, he visited the town's naturally heated mineral springs as treatment for his polio related paralysis. Georgia State Parks recently refurbished the pools and, although they are now mostly empty, a touch pool still exists where visitors are welcome to feel the actual warm spring water and listen to information about its' history. The warm springs maintains a constant 88 degree temperature year round and flows at approximately 914 gallons per minute. Unfortunately the springs are not available for public use as a spa resort, but they are used by the Roosevelt Institute for therapeutic purposes. The Springs Complex is open daily for tours from 9:00 am til 4:45 pm except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. For more information call 706-655-5870.

Today, the warmth of the springs is steeped right into the very personalities of the people who live here. Progressive, yet still tied to our traditions, we love to befriend each other and certainly our visitors, and we still take great pleasure in the Southern way of doing things-----cleanly, honestly, but with a mite slower pace!

Because it's a focused microwave emitter. Focused: like a beam. So if you're not in the line of the beam, then you wont get microwaved.

It isn't focused at all, literally every pipe around the emitter was exploding with steam, and people ran behind and in front of it in the scene.

they would just mix both shots, one with a real liquid on a closed set, and the other with green sceen, bang, instant lazarus, or would you rather they dig a huge whole?

the microwave emitter is simply dumb, it is focused because it targets the pipelines, if it didnt people would be boiling, and die of radiation. It would have far worse consequenced if it wasnt focused, ie cooking alive.

and if i am not mistaken, healing a broken back is extremely complicated, it would have to be a chemical that could regenerate human tissue, if it is explained, it should be explained like this, it puts the body into a hybernation or cacoon in which your body heals, similar to an amphibian like a lizard that regrows a tail, but it still sounds ridiculous.

why cant the joker have white skin if you can regenerate the human body remarkably?

So no chance on Neeson returning as Roger Ghoul?

I could've sworn that I've seen something about nanites being the future of medicine. Maybe it could be a pool of nanite solution for healing?

The Lazarus pit sounds cool especially if they are going to bring Ra's back. It's fitting to end this trilogy where it began. There are things in this world we just can't explain this Lazarus pit could be one of them.

I have an idea about the Lazarus pit working as a means to control the League of Shadows such as the way Mayan elites used their astronomy knowledge to gain power over their ancient civilization.

Mayan elites would proclaim in front of a large audience something like, say, the moon would disappear (eclipse) and to the people's astonishment - it did. Now think of how powerful this tool would have been over the normal person who had no concept of astronomy. Surely they would believe their leader had a link with deities.

Well, I thought of this Lazarus pit in this way. What if, like the "cheap parlor tricks" that we saw in Batman Begins continued within Raz's regime. What if, somehow, there were replacements for every Raz and pulled from the "magical" Lazarus pit? It could be a tool to to build his league.

It is a stretch, but a thought nonetheless. The idea of deception to gain mysticism...

I bet this is the Lazarus Pit. However, with Nolan being Nolan, this will probably be used to 'celebrate the rebirth of Rhas Al Ghul' a ritualistic baptism of the NEW leader of the League of Shadows...Rhas Al Ghul. It means 'The Head of The Beast', nothing more. This'll be a passing of the torch to someone else to keep the symbol alive, rather than the person holding the mantle.

A new guy is taking the mantle here and being ordained as leader. I personally thought Watanabe and Neesons character were BOTH Al Ghul, it's just that Ken's character died and Liam's took over. Bane will DEFINITELY be involved here, and he could very well end up being Rhas in this movie. The young Rhas casted will probably be used in a flashback to go over the League's origin.
