Hiya,

I'm a big Superman fan, and have plenty of the Graphic Novels from buying online, but because we have no comic book store for 25 miles where I'm from, I've never been able to buy comics individually.

With the relaunch just started, I thought this would be the perfect time to start buying the individual comics.

Problem is, I don't know how to go about ordering them online, or subscribing or anything. I can't see where u can do it on the DC site.

Does anyone know of anywhere good, bearing in mind I'm in the UK?

I strongly suggest going digital if you're willing. Its the simplest and cheapest way to get comics now.

I'd also suggest checking out www.heavyink.com They're a great comic site.

Here's the subscription site:
https://ssl.drgnetwork.com/ecom/dcc/app/live/dccmultisubs?org=dcc

Also, DC is offering their comics digitally now. So you can download your comics.

I'd actually much prefer digital. I'm too young to start a physical collection because I move around too much from house to house (and don't want the luggage).

Where can I get the digital downloads?

Wouldn't be comfortable buying from that site you suggested anyway. Don't like giving card details to sites I don't know. A friend of mine got ripped out of 700 quid once doing that :(

I've never been ripped off buying from an online retailer. And even if you did, if your bank/credit card company is at all credible, they'll be insured against fraud such as that.

As for digital comics, go to Comics.Comixology.com

I STRONGLY suggest finding a different site. Not only did it take them 3 months to get me my books (that they said would be delivered in 1-2 weeks), but when they did arrive they came heavily damaged. I contacted them about it, but they basically said I was **** out of luck. Plus the guy who owns the site advocates the shooting of US Senators. I know you're from the UK, but still, this is like advocating the shooting of a member of Parliament.

I haven't used them in a while, but I've had really good experiences impulsecreations.net. Really fast shipping and excellent customer service. The one time one of my books arrived damaged, I emailed them about it, and within 20 mins got a response saying they would ship out a replacement ASAP, no questions asked.

Although I haven't used them, I"ve also heard good things about mycomicshop.com and atomicavenue.com

I bought comics from Heavyink weekly for 2 years and never had a major issue.

The only issues that take a long time to ship are things that are sold out at diamond.

And the one time I did have a problem (I was sent an issue I didn't order), their customer service was great in seeing that i got my money refunded promptly.

Glad you at least didn't have a problem with them. I only ordered from them once and like I said earlier it was an ordeal. And the books weren't sold out from diamond. It took them over 2 months to even put the books in the mail. I was told that someone very important to the company left and that's why things were hectic. But I'm sorry, having someone quit on you shouldn't make it take over two months to put put 4 books into an envelope and bring it to the post office.

That sounds like the definition of a fluke.

Maybe it was, but it was enough for me to NEVER give them any of my money again. I wish I still had the emails where they keep telling me my order will arrive within 24 hours only for them to tell me multiple emails later that they didn't even ship it out yet.

I've been subscribed to comics through Heavy Ink for almost a year now and they've been nothing but fantastic. The only issue I've had so far is that sometimes it takes an extra week for comics to get shipped to me if I make last-minute changes to my orders/subs.

Trust in Corp. Corp knows best.

Sometimes.

Y'know, it's kinda weird.

When I agree with him, Corp knows best.

Yet when I don't, he doesn't.

Funny how the works out.

I always know best. If you disagree, you are wrong. It's one of those universal axioms.

How do I get into comics?

grab books, open wallet, read the damn books!

Its not rocket surgery there spanky!

It's not "how to get into comics" it's "How to GET comics."

There's no comic shops in this persons area and apparently the thread starter doesn't like buying online but unless you learn how to teleport, that's the only way it's gonna happen.

Then I guess they will have to use a mail order sub service. I heard
some of those are pretty good.

Why did you post
like this?

If you're looking to get them digitally straight from DC here's a link to DC's digital download section for the new 52 books.

https://read.dccomics.com/comixology/#/dc_the_new_52

I'm surprised no one else pointed you there. I'm picking up some of the new books from my LCS but I'll probably download some of the other titles later on. Hope that helps.

Well it's not that I don't like buying from ANY online site, but I'm not going to buy from one outside of the UK, I'm not buying from a site without confirmation that they are legit (which you guys are giving me :) thanks!) And I would have preferred to go through PayPal.

For the moment I'm buying the first issues on eBay, but would rather pre order than wait until sellers put them up.

And yeah, I decided to go for hardcopies rather than digital. :D

Of course my other option is to sort something out with the comic shop that's an hour and a half away, and spend 7 quid a month going there and back to pick up my orders.

EDIT: Have decided on comicdomain.co.uk as it allows for PayPal payments.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys! :)

You're welcome.

One more addict to the fold is always welcome.

Why do brits say quid? Is it like when Americans say "Can I borrow a few bucks?".
