How do you feel about all the hubbub over the gov'mnt monitoring bank transactions?

whats ridiculpous is that if it did happen, i can guarantee that there would be at least one person here who would agree it was the right thing to do, and that these TV channels are being irresponsible in these dangerous times ect ect ect

so Im right on this: the senate has passed a resolution condemning a news outlet for reporting on something that is unclassified, freely available and in the public domain?

The fact that the Senate even spent time on this should be reason enough to remove them all from office and start fresh with no incumbents running in the Fall, if you ask me. At the very least, they should be earmarked for investigation of abusing this program because they're sort of circumspect by their actions, here.

i think its fair to ask why the senate is so eager to be critical of a news outlet reporting on something that is in the public domain.

actually, it was the house, but i agree with you. it seems to me that this is a way for the republican party to get back at the new york times for all the negative (read: true) things that they've reported about the bush administration these last 6+ years. sad, sad, sad. "let's git them liberal a-holes back fer what they dun to w!"

That is exactly what I'm hoping the media outlets do, too. Having a bunch of inquiries from the press about it would serve them right.

Absolutely. Fox had this geaphic last night, New York Times - soft on terror? I think the conculsion they wanted you to draw was yes. And now the Supreme Court are activisist judges! Legislating from the bench! The liberal supreme court? Gimmee a break.
