How Do Americans View The British Royal Family?

I think anybody who thinks their blood line is truly royal or holy should be sent to deep space so the rest of the world doesn't have to deal with them.

I'm torn as a Brit over our Royal Family. I HATE the whole stuffy antiquated 'upper class' notion that they hold over us. However, Charles, the late Diana and her sons have done so much good in the UK and around the world (everything from the Princes Trust helping the needy and unfortunate in the UK to Diana and now Williams incredible work raising awareness over Landmines, poverty and oppression in war-torn third world countries)

Also, it appears that the newer generation are far more in touch with todays society than old Liz and the rest have been for many decades. So as an institution, it can go to hell. But as people, the immediate Royal family seem like an alright bunch.

Plus thanks to the bank holidays I get a three day working week

NBC certainly seems obsessed with them. They're really the only TV news I watch, so I'm just guessing that the rest are doing backflips over the upcoming wedding. As for me, I don't care for them any more than I care for any other Brit over in Great Britain. I won't be tuning in for the wedding. But, I hope everything works out for them.

Also, my tired brain read "sent to deep space" as meaning "Jettisoned into the Vacuum of space, and asphyxiating" instead of "Being sent on a rocket ship to remove them from Earth".

I don't think anyone apart from a tiny few hardcore monarchist believe in divine rule and just about everyone in the country dislikes the idea of aristocrats.

Only Daily Mail, Tatler magazine or Evening Standard (occasionally) really love that stuff.

The people who are pro-royal have affection towards the current queen Elizabeth and Prince William.

There have been polls and newspaper articles about how people don't want Prince Charles to be the next King and think he should hand it over to his son.

Apparently the amount of money they generate from tourism far outweighs the amount of money we spend to maintain their standards of living.

And they all seem like nice people.

All in all, I don't care enough to hate them, and there is little evidence to suggest that I should.
