On the flip side of the "how many times have you been in love thread." I noticed some people voting like 3 or more times unrecipricated, which I thought was kind of odd so I was wondering how many people get their hearts broken multiple times.

Heartbreak in this case means the kind of pain you feel after losing someone you love or care a hell of a lot about, romantically speaking. If we included friendships lost or pets that died everyone would be choosing 5 or more.

I don't care to relive it.

Ben & Jerry's is much better.

Also people, I'm talking like a real heartbreak. Not "oh my gosh, he's never going to call me back." I mean, you feel like the world is ending heartbroken. The kind of pain you only feel after you lose real love. :o

A lot of girlfriends fail to realize what love really is. Glad I found one that does. Too bad six others ripped my heart out before her.

The word heartbroken can transcend relationships.

You can be watching something kinda upsetting or even touching on tv or at the movies and that can be heart breaking.

Also friends can break your heart.

But on to the topic, I think the worst heartbreak was my first girlfriend. She went away to school. But alas the the distance just made a relationship impossible especially for 2 kids still in school. Yet at the time, I litterally felt my heart ache afterwards. It took me a while and it ruined the next relationship after it which lead to my 2nd tale of heartbreak. LOL

Um,B&J is a little to rich and creamy for me.

I've lived a pretty long life and yes I've had real heart break more then once, thanks.

quote Alfred... "master bruce, why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up"

without rejection we wouldn't learn from our mistakes....

I wasn't talking to you. Notice how it says "people" which implies that its not directed to any one person.

[count]Tree, tree heartbreaks. Ah ah ah ahhhh[/count]

The first one was the worst... they do get easier with time. The second one was... really hard to come to terms with. Unbelievable really. The last one was one of those ones where you're breaking up for practical reasons not because you don't love eachother. 900 miles apart makes for a very difficult relationship. That is almost as bad as the first.

Exactly. I think we learn more from our mistakes than our successes. And that's why I don't believe in regret. We do the things we think are right at the time. Hindsight is never 20/20. It's looking back through jaded eyes.

It's never happened due to a relationship. Other things have done it a number of times.

then again I'm a strong believer in what yoda told anakin "attachment leads to jealousy, you must train yourself to let go"

being emotionally unattached has it's merits... you don't risk being hurt... it's all the same in the end... success, failure.

God bless you Yoda.

Missed it in my speed reading, happens when I'm quoted.

My heart is always broken. But never directly. It's like they smile to my face, then walk away and turn around after ten steps and punch a hole through my chest with a death ray. :(

None...I mean it, there was no girl that clawed into my chest, ripped out my heart and stomped on it like a dying cockroach. :cmad:
Seriously there wasn't. Now if you'll pardon me, there's a gallon of Edy's that requires my immediate attention :csad:

Read more carefully :cmad:

Seriously though, I do it too.

Once. But I think I emerged a better person because of it. Like Erz said, we learn from our mistakes. And nope, no regrets for me either. I'm ready to fall in love again when/if the right man comes along.

I wish I could say the same and good lord this thread is depressing.

For me it's almost humorous to look back at times. Wistful... some what ifs. But no regrets. Every relationship was special and I can always smile about the nice parts and roll my eyes about the lame ones.

Oh... and Ben and Jerry's Strawberry Cheesecake (but wait SH1T that flavor was something the last one and I shared often.) :D
