How do you know how much a comic is worth?

I have a whole bunch of comics - excellent condition (good as new) that are about ten years old.

Would they be worth much now, or should I hold onto them?

Thoughts??

They won't be worth much...everyone wants the Golden Age or the Silver Age comics right now. So hold onto them for a long time.

How old are the Golden and Silver Age comics (in years)? Like 20 years etc?

Comics that are only 10 years old won't be worth much at all.

One place you can check values is here: www.comicspriceguide.com

Roughly:

Golden age comics = 1930s to late 40s
Silver age comics= 1956 to late 60s
Bronze age comics = early 1970s to mid 80s
Modern age comics mid 1980s to present

I have the original Avengers first appearance, will have to see how much that is going for.

comics are only as worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.
Whether they are Silver or Golden age or not. Just because a book is listed at $300 in anyone of the price guides around, doesn't mean you are going to get that unless a collector is willing to pay that. You can ask for it but that doesnt mean you are going to get it.trust me at one time i thought that price was what i was going to get too and it ain't.A few comic store owners i have known thru the years gave me some advice ,"dont think you are going to get rich collecting them, because you wont and just collect them cause they are fun!"
