as far as i'm concerned normal is the difficulty a game was designed for. when you get games without a choice it's normally at a normal difficulty level. but then you get something like dmc3 where in the special edition they decided that what was easy should now be normal.

I at least like to have an Easy difficulty option. I try to play on normal most of the time, but I don't like getting frustrated over games when normal almost seems impossible. I usually can get through games eventually even if they are really hard, but I don't have the time like I did when I was a kid to spend on getting better etc. I'd rather just be able to get through a game instead of getting stuck over and over to where I put it down and move on to something else. I'm a causal gamer though as I'm in grad school, trying to work a little to help pay for school, and I'm married.

I hate escort missions. Ones that flow well I guess are passible. But I've had too many bad experiences with escort missions making me not very fond of them. For instance, Kane & Lynch had a few awful escort missions.

I like having an easy option as well. I'm ''hardcore" geek wise (meaning I buy most of the big time franchises and the small time franchises as well) when it comes to games, but I like to have the option to just breeze through a game, because I don't like getting fustrated at the game as well. I just see gaming as a passtime that's suppose to be easy, not too difficult, to get through and have fun playing either by yourself or with friends.

Unfortunately some games on very hard are a little too hard and put me into that special rage that borders on smahing your controllers and setting your game system on fire.

I like to be challenged without being frustrated. If I get stuck and have to attempt something more than three or four times, then I start to get annoyed.

I always start on normal just so I can breeze through the game and pay attention to the story and whatnot without getting hung up anywhere.

Having said that, I do prefer to play on hard, though. Gotta have that challenge.
