How I Met Your Mother

I loved that the crazy/hot scale was part of the formula.

KA-RAZY episode. I liked the guy from Daily Show, albeit for the couple of minutes he was on...

Danneel Harris was hot as usual...

I desperately want Ted and Robin together, but if not him, then Barney's all right... but I cling to hope that somehow they'll find a way...

is there really any doubt that Ted winds up marrying Robin? I've watched this show on and off for the past couple years, and that outcome never seems in doubt, no matter how many breakups, weddings, career changes, etc. that they go through.

It is in doubt, because he tells the kids at the end of the first episode, "and that is how I met ... your aunt Robin." And he means aunt as in the way your parents call one of their best friends your "aunt" or "uncle," even though they aren't actually related to you.

There is no doubt... that he won't marry her. He has flat out said she isn't the mother and the creators have said that there will be no cop out.

Robin is definitely not the mother. I'm glad Stella isn't the mother though. For some reason, I haven't liked her as much this season as I did last season. Danneel Harris was really hot in the episode. I can't wait to see the next episode. It's back in 2 weeks, uh? That sucks.

'How I Met Your Mother': Satisfying Twist

So, as we learned last night, Stella isn't the mother. I can't say I'm surprised; she and Ted were so clearly mismatched, even though I love Sarah Chalke. And, as "How I Met Your Mother" made clear, the kids would probably look quite different if Stella were the mom. Plus, it was obviously too early in the series to have us meet the mother and solve the Big Mystery. (Oh yeah, and I was TOTALLY so very, very wrong in my theory of last season, that maybe Stella's sister was the mother. Stella's sister is a dud.)
But it was a good episode that ended the Stella story satisfyingly, even though the whole quick-wedding-this-weekend construct was kind of forced and Stella's ex was too pathetic the first time we met him. But I liked the psychology at play. The fact that Stella was so anxious about inviting exes to the wedding said everything we needed to know about her own unfinished business, and nothing about Ted and Robin (or is there more to that, too?). It was the classic "protesteth too much" scenario, but it still worked for me.
Into the fourth season of this series, which is doing better than ever in the ratings, I still care about who will be the mother. That surprises me. Usually, when a sitcom keeps playing around with will-they-won't-they type questions, like "Friends" or "Cheers" did, I get tired of them quickly. And so I continue to be a fan of this show, and look forward to forthcoming developments.

I also look forward to seeing Sarah Chalke back on "Scrubs," when it returns this winter on ABC. More on that return later, except to note that, in the forthcoming "Scrubs" premiere, Zach Braff points to the ABC logo bug in the corner of the screen and says, "That's new." It's the kind of heavy meta humor that "30 Rock" does so well, but that has been in evidence on "Scrubs" for years.

Anyone catch the commercial for Barney's book, The Bro Code. I picked it up yesterday, gonna read it next week. A little expensive at $13, for what's basically a joke book, but oh well

From Entertainment Weekly.com:

Ratings: 'How I Met Your Mother' hits season high

CBS' Monday night line-up continued to perform solidly with How I Met Your Mother (pictured) tallying its season-high number of 9.8 million viewers, according to preliminary overnight ratings, even though its lead-in, Big Bang Theory, actually dipped slightly to 9.7 million from last week's 10 million. At 9 p.m., the Eye's Two and a Half Men performed strongly (opposite Dancing With the Stars, no less) with 15.2 million viewers, a 4 percent increase from the previous week. And Worst Week, which had been struggling, saw its highest numbers since the premiere with 10.4 million viewers. CBS also dominated the 10 p.m. hour with CSI: Miami's 15.4 million viewers.

As good as this show is doing. I really hope they only go one more season. I mean the story can last only so long, or they continue but reveal teds wife soon.

Let me know if it is worth buying.

It was pretty funny, good as a coffee table type book. It's really short though, under 200 pages and many times just one rule per page. Worth it if you have a little extra cash and are a fan of the show.

Gotta try The Naked Man sometime.

So is the goat episode going to be the season finale, the date did say May 2009.

Great episode last night. Remember, the Naked Man works 2/3 times! Yeah, I think the goat will be in the season finale. The writers like to do this a lot like they did with the Slap Bet. It was funny how Barney was the one that failed at the Naked Man. lol

If you watch the show, you'll notice everytime at the end of the show when Ted has a relationship problem and he says something to the effect of "I know there's someone for me" or "Miss right is right around the corner", the camera seems to always focus in on some chick that is always wearing yellow and we never see her face. I have forgotten the episode but they were outside in the rain and Ted was whining and talking about he'll meet Miss Right one day and the camera zoomed in on a woman walking by Ted going into the bar. Her face was hidden by a yellow umbrella. Also in one episode, Ted was whining again in the bar and the camera zoomed in on chick sitting at the bar with a yellow sweater on but her back was to the camera and Ted was leaving the bar. Mind you it's not every episode but it's sporadic.

I'm still waiting for the slap bet to return, Marshall still has two slaps left.
