How I Met Your Mother

I think HIMYM is equally funny with those 3 shows...

I have to disagree, I find HIMYM has fewer laughs and I laugh harder with those other three. I do care more about the characters in HIMYM or they are more likable but Barney against Jack Donaghy or Charlie Day or Dwight? No contest. And the fake laugh track (they film without an audience)? So 1990s. But its still a great show. But I think Will Arnett playing a gay TV network president running away in a suit barefoot in Central Park after getting a BJ from a guy, is much funnier than a angry Regis looking for a burger joint.

I tend to agree with Slinger. 30 Rock, Sunny, and The Office are funnier, but HIMYM has much more heart and the characters are ones I am much more invested in. The fact that they are funnier though, really doesn't take much away from HIMYM. Its still a great show.

Of course, none of those shows are currently the best sitcom on television. Sunny is the funniest...but not the best. The best is the new gem, Worst Week, which I'm suprised you haven't picked up on Slinger. Worst Week has the awkward humor of The Office mixed with the outrageous humor of Sunny and all the heart of How I Met Your Mother. Over all, it is currently the best sitcom on TV, in my opinion.

I've found HIMYM to be consistent with the laughs, IMO. The Office has faded for me and while I still find 30 Rock funny, I have a feeling it may get bland (I hope not). Sunny is great because of the shock humor. But like I said, I think HIMYM has been pretty consistent in the past.

The Office is great for the characters and not so much for the stories, but that's kind of the point. I love watching new episodes, but for some reason never have any desire to ever watch them again. 30 Rock has some good bits here and there but I have zero connection with any of the characters. I'll have to check out Worst Week when I get the chance.

Had class 6-9 on Mondays so I would just TiVo HIMYM. Was reading that the ratings were dropping and that CBS may cancel it since it was doing a horrible job of retaining the audience of Two And A Half Men. Still getting great ratings but networks hate to see a drop off like that.

I hear great things about Big Bang Theory.

Hopefully next year Amy Poehler's show on NBC and Will Arnett's on Fox will join these shows

I think Worst Week bought itself some time due to the fact that its most recent episode beat out all their other shows on monday night (How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, and Big Bang Theory. Afterwards CBS ordered three additional episodes, so I think they may give it time to pick up an audience. At least I hope they do.

-Ratings Breakdown:
Despite airing a night of all repeats, CBS still dominated Monday with its combination of The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #2, 8.02 million; A18-49: #2, 2.5 rating/ 7 share), How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #2, 8.02 million; A18-49: #2, 2.8/ 7), Two and a Half Men (Viewers: #1, 13.66 million; A18-49: #1, 4.1/10), Worst Week (Viewers: #3, 7.86 million; A18-49: #3, 2.2/ 5) and CSI: Miami (Viewers: #1, 11.00 million; A18-49: #1, 3.0/ 8).

With retention for Worst Week out of Two and a Half Men of just 58 percent in total viewers and 54 percent among adults 18-49, CBS could – and should – be doing much better at 9:30 p.m. Sounds like benchwarmer Rules of Engagement will be called to duty soon. As for The Big Bang Theory encore, who knew it would be so cool to be a ner

ABC, Fox and NBC would love numbers like that but not #1 CBS.

Great episode tonight. Everyone notice how Robin quickly had her arm around Barney? Hope they start doing more of that storyline.

Nice twist at the end.

Big Bang Theory was also great, have to add that to TiVo. Sorry Matt didn't stick around to watch Worst Week. Maybe next week.

Good episode tonight. I can't wait to see what the goat episode will be like in the future. Glad they brought it up again. And the lightsaber thing was pretty funny. All the forums are saying 3-5 years!!!

I liked fight club thing between brothers. and how at the end marshall knocked out the will sasso character.

and the last line don't make your uncle marshall mad, he's freaking crazy.

lol.

Anyone know if its coming back for another season?

It's CBS' 2nd highest rated comedy, its hovering around 8-10 million viewers (plus whatever DVR bump it gets) and from all the articles that I've read with the creators they intend to carry on for a few more seasons. Should be safe unless the ratings drop which I don't see happening.

End it next season. It's already getting dragged out pretty far, and most sitcoms get stale as **** after the 4th or so.

As much as I love the show, watching it for another 4 years might be a bad thing. Especially with the aging actors and their characters situations.

I want to know who the mother is! I hope they introduce her by the end of this season.

I watched at the start then stopped, then i remember jason segel was in it and started watching again.

plus NPH ftw!

I think they've done too much foreshadowing right now with the goat. I think that's the third time we've been teased with the goat episode, any more and it won't be able to live up to the expectations.

Cobie Smulders and Alyson Hannigan will be very pregnant by the time that episode films. I will be curious to see how they do it.

I love the continuous buildup to the goat incident. It better be worth the 2 years of hype.

:cmad:

All I can say to that is "Cocoa Break!"

This show gets funnier and funnier every time I watch it. Plus I am learning to phase out the laugh track, so yay for that.

Still, I really wish HIMYM would lose the laugh track. I mean, it was one thing when shows were shot in front of a live audience...but what TV executive genius really thought it would be a good idea to insert artifical laughs into the show? Do people really need to be told when to laugh? Whats the point?
