How many of you are actually going to vote this November?

So, do you plan on voting this year?

  • Yes, I plan on voting

  • No, I don't plan on voting

  • Undecided at this point

  • Jag

Results are only viewable after voting.
No. Just pity those who throw away their amazing right to do so.

Actually, it's not a "right," as it is not identified as so by the rights enumerated in our Constitution. It's more of a privelege.

But I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of those who are able to vote yet choose not to do so.

I will be voting, and proudly voting for a Democrat, that will hopefully be Obama.

The Republicans/Conservatives have run this country into the ground too much and ruined our reputation as a country for the past eight years that this election is too important to not vote!

While part of me wishes that you would not vote (for a Democrat), I am pleased that many people seem to be energized about their ability to affect the outcome of this election. It's very frustrating to me personally when people do not exercise their ability to vote.

I just wish there were more informed voters. People who voted based on issues, not on personal appeal. But you can't win 'em all, I guess.

I couldn't agree more Tron.

I mean, even if you disagree with me on every issue, I just want you to know why that is the case. I respect opinions that are derived through research, debate and discussion. It's hard to take seriously an individual who supports a particular candidate for reasons other than the issues for which that candidate stands.

I am a very informed voter, and I don't share the same views as a Republican, and never will. I'm a very Liberal, and I mean very.

The Republican party as a whole has turned this country into a complete fear and war-mongering, out of touch, careless juggernaut. There's a reason half the world despises us.

I agree with you both!

And don't use the "I work" BS excuse. Not when there is early voting every weekened, three weeks before the election.

It's only BS when an idiot forgets that some people work on the weekend:o

Absentee ballot. And you should be able to get off work for 2 hours at some point to cast your vote. If your boss isn't cool with that, F 'em.

I would if there was someone I trusted to change things. None of the people running have convinced me

And that is the reason why so many of these idiots running win by default. Most people don't even vote so the thing is decided by a handful.

Damn you, Phere! I was all set to vote "Yes" until I saw the last choice of "Jag". Why must you taunt me so!? :cmad:

jag

It's actually decided by the electoral college

Pretty much:csad:

I've grown more and more apathetic to this upcoming election. I realize it's my duty as an American citizen to vote, but really, I can't justify my vote for anyone at this point. All the candidates IMO suck ass, and I'm really contemplating not even bothering to vote this year. So how many of you plan on actually voting this year? I don't need to know who or what for, I'm just curious as to who is going out there to do their civic duty.

Not to mention there is no real incentive to vote anymore and this country is no longer politically aware about what is going on or care anymore about what is going on politically.

We just say oh that's sad, I feel bad for them. Then turn and walk the other way.

I just think that, if what happened in the past 8 years have affected you and make you feel strongly about doing something about it, then refusing to vote will not be the solution to fix this problem.

I just mean that nothing really changes. I mean really changes. What is the biggest change that will happen? Honestly? Pull the troops out of Iraq? Or wherever we are over there now? Maybe.

Nothing significant will be done to fix Social Security, Education, Prisons, Medical Care or anything else in this country that is really important and matters.

Does it really matter if a Democrat or Republican wins? Honestly? It's a two party system and they know it, they just take turns while in power and take credit when things go well and blame the other when things go wrong.
That is what I mean by incentive. Nothing really changes whether I vote or not. It's sad, but true. I am going to vote regardless. But there has not been someone in a while that really wanted to make changes in this country on any level significant enough to stand up to all of the huge corporations with their massive campaign donations to really affect change in this country.

i want to will be my first time, i still need to register, haven't done it yet.

Why does someone deserve assistance from the government if they make the decision to have sex, and such decision results in one becoming pregnant? How is that the responsibility of the government and taxpayers?

No it is not the responsibility of the government to take care of a woman if she gets pregnant. But I do not think that you can tell her to have a baby if she cannot take care of it. Consider adoption who takes care of orphans. And also folks have sex and will continue to have sex; your pencil notwithstanding. :woot:

There is already legislation prohibiting people from marrying whoever they choose. You can't have more than 1 wife, you can't marry children, and you can't marry a close relative. This legislation has been supported by Republicans and Democrats.

I know ther is leave the descision to the states we don't need a constitutional amendment defining marriage. The Constitution is not that type of document.

Due process only applies to those covered under our Constitution, i.e. American citizens.

I have to check into that one. I thought the Patriot Act screwed you if you were accused of being a terrorist sympathizer even if you are an American Citizen.

So you think Republicans (or Christians) view all Muslims as terrorists? Way off base there. They view people who cause terror as terrorists. Just so happens that most terrorists are Muslim. Do you see the correlation?

Consider some of the crap going through the blogosphere about Obama being a muslim (which is not the case) and asserting he is part of a terrorist conspiracy.

Being PC has gone too far because it shouts down and drowns out any non-PC speech. This is known as oppression.

I have to disagree my rights end where yours begin I should not be allowed to call you a Cr****r, S**c, h****y, or Red N***k, if it upsets you what is wrong with at least trying to consider the feelings of others.
Very interesting.

I like guns, work every day, pay my taxes, and try to make a positive contribution to my community. I think civil rights are important and Im a democrat.:word:

Swords are cooler than guns. I work part time, but I help the public and that should count for something.
I'll be voting this November if I have to crawl naked over glass shards. I am a Democrat.

Obama has taken a definitive stance? He had no platform until Super Tuesday. The platform he has now is at best vague and at worst impractical and naive.

Obama is under unfair scrutiny? He damn well should be. When you run for the most important job in the world, you bet your ass every move you make should be under a microscope.

Please, Kaine, you cannot be more biased.

God forbid someone tries to be a moderate as opposed to more liberal than the elected socialists in this country. It makes no sense at all that a candidate would try to appeal to the middle being as the majority of Americans are moderate.

Moderate success verses smashing success?

You should take notice, that a candidate appealed to the most voters, as a liberal. Obama beats McCain in match up polls, and he beat the moderate in the primary season. The country doesn't want moderate change. If it did, Hillary would have won.

You pointed out how you disagreed with his positions a long time ago, so you shouldn't claim he hasn't taken a stance. I'm talking about before super tuesday, I might add. You made a long list of his positions you disagreed with, but then went on to claim that he had no positions.

Obama is our nominee, and almost certainly our next President. Not only is America in agreement with Obama over McCain, but the other factors that play a role in elections, looks, personality, debate skills, donors, speech performance, Obama trumps McCain in all of those areas. And not only that, but many stations are going HD before November. McCain looks horrible in HD. Liver spots, wrinkles, and lumps all over his face. It looks terrible.
