How Sad Our Country Is!

In 40 years time both 9/11 and Steve Irwin will be spoofed by a Family Guy oriented television show.

I never said there was anything wrong with mourning Steve Irwin. I just said that you shouldn't downplay the deaths of 9/11 victims.

It sucks that the **** happened, but when you're living in a country that most of the world hates and/or fears it's not that much of surprise that we get attacked. The US is not innocent, and as Americans we are brought up to believe that we are invincible, as far as I am concerned an event like this just knocks the citizens down to a level of humility.

I didn't personally know anyone who died in 9/11 so I don't mourn at all, just as I would not expect someone who didn't know me to mourn me if I had died in something similar.

I choose to recognize Steve Irwin over 9/11 because remembering him is remembering all the positive he has done and remembering 9/11 is just remembering the American false unity that lasted for a whole year or so, and the media ****ing of the whole event.

BTW...."terrorists" are people with families, so are we suppose to just all get along? Be realistic now. But don't worry, I am sure the history books will all be force fed to our future's youth and GWB will be remembered as the hero that took a stand against terror. It's going to be as successful as the war on drugs, and poverty, and everything else that tends to fade off (without any real improvement) in decades following.

that pretty much sums up this entire thread and my opinion on it.

Six days ago was the 5th anniversary of September 11th, the tragedy that claimed thousands of lives, my fiance and I were driving down a local street in town and happened to pass by a Veteranany Hostpital of which had a small billboard posted out front that is usualy ment to deliver daily messages to the public about its times and services, as we passed by we noticed that instead of the regular messages posted it said "REST IN PEACE STEVE IRWIN".........on 9/11....the anniversary date of thousands this institution chose to acknowledge the death of an Austrailian Crocodile Hunter who made a living off of ****ING with dangerous animals, instead of acknowledging the tragedy that AT ONE TIME touched the lives of so many americans......now as tacky and distatsfull as I thought this was, I understood that it was an animal hospital and I could see some, not much, but some reason for doing this so I let it go......but not three blocks later we passed a church with its own small board on the front lawn, now of course I could suspect to see some testimate, some tribute, some small fraction of sympathy for those who lost their lives five years earlier on this day......right?......NO! As we passed by the church once again I saw "REST IN PEACE STEVE IRWIN, WE WILL MISS YOU"......W.T.F.?

Are we such a pathetic country that celebrities are more important to us that the deaths of thousands?! Have we lost all tact and morality? Why is the death od ONE Austrailian thrillseaker more important than the thousands of men women and children who were killed by terrorist actions on our own soil? This makes me sick, and those of you who know me would know that I am not one of those Right Wing Republicans bashing the libral media, personaly I hate Georgey Boy and I think Cheney need to shoot himself in the face! I love the Media, I loved Steve Irwin, I thought his death was very unfortunate but he made his living off of placing himself in dangerous situations, it wasn't that inexpected! I feel sorry for his family and wish that it didn't happen. he was a wonderfull and energetc, lovely man, but he was a thrill seaker who died from thrillseaking! Not and inocent bystander who decided to take his kids to work with him at the twin towers and had a plane flown into him!

I want to know your feelings on this, are there any others who are as asamed of our country for this?

Steve Irwin didn't die "thrill seeking". He was a researcher. Because he was willing to do more with animals than any researcher before him, we know far more about animals than we did before Irwin came into the picture.

Furthermore, it is an ANIMAL hospital. The man did a lot for ANIMALS. Some people have moved on five years later. You should do the same.

How about we end this damn war?!

Indeed,i can imagine alot of Americans want this to end. They dont want their country`s name being dragged through the mud.But its doubtful Bush will stop,he thinks by continuing this war he will somehow bring reputation or respect back to his family`s name which has been tainted and disgraced.

You guys need to show some ***ing respect for the victims of 9/11. I don't give a damn if you don't know them, they're people for Christ's sake, people with families.

A sort of raw truth,if family or frends die.You care, but if strangers die,you care or think, but you soon forget.
