I got out of work early, kinda like having a long weekend. :D

Blade Runner 2049 looks pretty. I've seen the original exactly one time. And apparently there are like 626 versions of that movie, and I can't remember which one I've seen.

The one staring Keanu Reeves is the best version.

After finishing Babylon 5 I can finally say that it's a damn great show, but in the grand rap beef between it and Deep Space 9 I'll have to say that DS9 takes the edge. Now I'm free to watch a new show which won't be Buffy since Netflix had to be turrible turrible.

I find the middle seasons of both shows compelling as all hell, some of the best Sci Fi drama on TV ever but the beginnings and ending are a little underwhelming.

I just picked up The Dark Tower series. I was inspired to by the trailer. Everyone kept saying "this looks like garbage, just read the books"... so, seemed like good advice.

After actually seeing the trailer, while I think "trash/garbage" is harsh... From what I know of the series it does seem to have a very generic wannabe blockbuster vibe to it all. I can't judge on elements from the book being mashed up or the fealty to the source, but just from the trailer it doesn't give off an especially dark or foreboding vibe. It could be fine though, it just doesn't seem all that special.

Nah, trash/garbage is too kind.

The first book in the series is kinda like a post-apocalyptic western with a little fantasy and then in later books it will get a bit more sci-fi with a suicidal talking train.

It should have been a HBO series spread over 6/7 seasons. And I know that's a common sentiment with a lot of properties lately, but in this case it's the option that makes the most sense in a Post-Game of Thrones world.

All you had to say was "suicidal talking train", and I'd be locked in. And the movie is a sequel to the novels? Maybe I will appreciate the movie more once I've read them... or it will go the other way.

Can't wait until Free Comicbook day tomorrow. It'll be last stop after a 12 hour shift tomorrow lol

While I agree, you could also easily pull it off in a 5-6 film series. A straight adaptation of the first 3 or even 4 books, and then 2 films to craft an ending that works. One with the ending of the book series, but perhaps a little different for obvious reasons.

Yeah. Babylon 5's last season is why I easily put DS9 over it. Seasons 2-4 of B5 were great, but that fifth one really was hard to get through. With Deep Space 9 the last season wasn't as good as the three before it, but it ended at the right time. With Babylon 5 you could tell that they threw everything into season 4 because they thought it would be cancelled.
