copy image location between and [/ img] tags. remove the spaces.

please note that if you hotlink, it is at your own risk and if the sites have parameters set up to prevent hotlinking, then whatever images it shows instead, you are subject to the punishment.

example: hotlinking steals bandwidth from sites, so some sites have it set up to where if a person hotlinks, it directs them to a picture of something grotesque or porn instead. those images are not permitted on the hype, so you'd be punished for that.

we recommend image hosting sites, such as Imgur, tinypic, photobucket, flickr, imageshack etc

some people are too lazy to go to another site when you can open the video up right there on the page and never leave

Has it ever been thought of about allowing tweets and such to be embedable on here?

Hotwire, it looks like your screencaps don't show up anymore (they all show as "Please Update Your Account To Enable 3rd Party Hosting")

So for anyone wondering what the missing screencaps are showing/telling you here's my how to (and I'll using a cute video of a bat stuffing it's face with banana)

Here on SHH when you're typing your post, there's the YouTube Icon in the formatting bar that will insert the YT tags for you. But you still need information to put in between the tags for you. You don't put the full http://youtube.com URL, you just need the youtube video's ID string.

Here's the URL (long and short forms both) of the Video I'm using as my example:

Long form (often seen in your browser's address bar): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B0UPtEpOQc

Short Form (typically gotten when you click the "share" button below a video): https://youtu.be/5B0UPtEpOQc

The Video ID on the long form is anything after the v=
In the short form, it's what's after the youtu.be/

So the Vid ID of my video example is the 5B0UPtEpOQc part of the URL

Put that in your post in between the YT tags like so:

    [YT]5B0UPtEpOQc[/YT]

and voila - a cute bat stuffing it's cheeks full of banana:
    [YT]5B0UPtEpOQc[/YT]

can someone tell me the process for adding gif's in a post? do I have to upload them to a picture hosting site or just put the link directly into a post like you would for a video?

This is obsolete. For most media content all you have to do is paste in the link now. The film clip icon in the editor has a list of supported content.
