How to Train Your Dragon - Spring 2010

i will say again. learn lighting from pixar. its a f... CGI cartoon. the lighting should be more saturated. it looks to dark for a kids movie. learn from disney 2D cartoons for christ sake. did someone die?
again black is a bad color.its very hard to light with black. black is black. so with what are you left with? the hightlights. not enough.

but i must say i like the designe of the dragon. it looks very unique for a dragon. good job on that.

Agreed, the dragon does look unique.

I'm just wondering how many people laughed when the title of this movie was talked about.

this movie actually looks pretty good imo. I like that dreamworks isn't afraid to use a darker pallet, it fits with the world in which the movie is set... i mean it's a story about f***ing vikings slaying dragons... somehow bright orange nauseating yellow don't seem appropriate (rant over)... also i like jay baruchel and the rest of the cast, and the directors are the guys that made lilo and stitch, (last good disney to come out that i actually watched)

This looks like it might be pretty good. I bet the 3d is real and not converted like Alice in Wonderland.

I can't believe how good the reviews are for this. I had written it off as another so-so Dreamworks animated movie. Might check it out at the IMAX one night next week.

Only 10 posts!?!? we should all be ashamed of ourselves!! :cmad:

By the way I'm seeing this tomorrow

Hi.

How dare you????!!! :cmad: :hehe:

btw i just came back from seeing it and i give it a 8.5/10

It´s a good heart-warming story with a side of good action scenes with some nice jokes thrown in there, but it needed more dragon badassery.

If it wasnt for Toy Story 3 coming out later this year this would be the best animated movie of the year for sure (i dont think any of the upcoming Dreamworks animation movies are going to be near as good as this one)

It was quite an enjoyable movie. Alot of very good action scenes for the kind if movie it is.

On a sidenote anyone else get confused about why all the adult vikings spoke with scottish acents while the kids north american ones?

wow! this movie was amazing!!... the tvspots made it out to be a dumb comedy or something.. it wasnt!

i liked this waay better than pixars UP!

Truly an amazing movie. just saw it last night. It had great action, the scope of it created a real sense of the danger
(particularly the climax with the big dragon
and you could tell that some actual thought went into the movie. I loved how they created behavior patterns for the dragons, You really got a sense that they were living, breathing creatures. Speculator vocal performances as well, especially Baruchel and Butler; Ferguson was hilarious as usual. This was definitely my favorite Dreamworks animated movie (not made in conjunction with ardman)

I saw this yesterday. I loved it! 9/10 :word:

The only problem i hade was that it was to short. hehe :woot:

The 3d was incredible. I thought it was better than Avatars 3D.
I'm looking forward to Toy story 3d, Hopefully it'll be just as good.

Awesome movie. Too bad it's not doing so well at the box office.

It did 43mil over the weekend. It might be a good movie for all I know but considering all the advertising and the 17-20 dollar ticket prices the movie opened up to hugely disappointing numbers. Without the ridiculously 3D ticket prices it would have done like 30mil. Now it could have legs for all I know but it's opening was disappointing.

With the good reviews, and positive word of mouth. I'm sure it'll catch up to a higher box office in the weeks to come.

yeah as for the ticket prices. Mine was 14.50.. the last movie i saw was Avatar and it was 14.00. Same theater, both on a weekend.

I'm not to happy with spending around 15 bucks for a 80 minute movie. But at least i liked it. The 3d was sensational. If i didn't enjoy it would have been pissed.

Very well done animated film. Reminds me of those 80s animated movies that weren't afraid to get a little harsh, which this one does, especially at the end.

can you explain. this sounds interesting.

Well the 3d seemed cleaner and sharper. It was also a lot brighter. I recall the out door scenes were very bright, and as i remember some of the out door scenes in avatar were somewhat dark.
Though this can be due to the projectors and screens. Maybe my theater upgraded to better equipment, which may explain the 50 cent ticket increase.

Perhaps 3d does look better when rendered in a computer than using a 3d camera with live scenes and people. Because i remeber Avatars best scenes where the ones with the Navi people, epic Landscapes, and Creatures, which were all rendered in the computer.

Now i am looking forward to toy story 3. I hope they rendered it with the 3d Camera set up too.
