So Kevin Feige revealed that there's two of them. What's the explanation? I mean one Gauntlet by itself was designed to fit all 6 gems so why did they need a second one?

I have two theories.

1. The first one was in Thor I believe. And that one was likely a fake/model because Thanos already had the real one. Or at least that's what I think.

2. Perhaps they have one Gauntlet to counter the other.

If the first theory is true. That could mean Odin knew of Thanos from the beginning but could not stop him from taking the real gauntlet. Thus, ashamed, created a fake one to hide his weakness. This might come to light in Ragnarok and/or Infinity War and create a conflict between Thor and Odin.

If the second is true that means the first one may run on the powers of the six Infinity Gems. The second may run on will of the 6 heroes.

Captain America-Time
Starlord-Space
Doctor Strange-Soul
Captain Marvel-Power
Spider Man-Mind
Daredevil-Reality

The Big 6 of the MCU. Or it could be the 6 teams.

Original Avengers
SHIELD
Defenders
Gaurdians of the Galaxy
New Avengers
Everyone Else or Inhumans

I don't know. For me the first one makes a bit more sense.

Good theories, but I disagree with your Big 6. For me it would be Thor, Iron Man, Cap, Hulk, Star-lord, and Strange.

Apparently Thanos has the left-handed gauntlet, and Odin has the right-handed one.

That would also make sense.

@ThePhantasm, thanks. The Odin Gauntlet was shown in the first Thor film if memory serves correct.

The out of universe explanation is they decided not to be beholden to an Easter Egg when it didn't serve the story. In-universe, I'm partial to the gauntlet for each hand theory, but I'll settle for the "fake gauntlet" or counter-gauntlet ideas too.

Is the gauntlet itself that powerful or is it merely a place to put the gems?

The gauntlet is only means to hold the gems. Other than that you could destroy and make an Infinity Hat or Infintiy Belt or Infinity Armor. Do you think pants would look nice on Thanos? That's way off topic.

Two Gauntlets for each hand would...they could...., I'm not sure how that'd work out.

Because Whedon thought he would be clever and would put the Gauntlet in to give fans a cheap thrill. Not realising that Branagh had beaten him too it.

As far as we know no-one before has ever wielded the 6 gems. So who made the gauntlet and what for? If it's not a plothole. Then it might be interesting to find out.

I'm fairly certain he's aware that the Gauntlet has been seen before, given that he appeared with it in a video to tease the first Avengers movie.

So that wasn't Odin's vault? I would think Loki would just hand the stuff over.

Did the mid credit scene really add anything to the story of AOU?

No. But have any stingers ever added anything to the story of the film itself?

I think that kind of goes without saying, considering they are not found within the film itself?

Because some people are left handed and others are right handed. Duh.

Yes actually.

Thanos has decided to get directly involved instead of using proxy's.

"Fine...... I'll do it myself."

I wouldn't trust Hulk with an infinity stone. He's too unpredictable. He can't even control his own power. Starlord dropped the orb, so no, he out of the group as well. I would replace Star-Lord and Hulk with Captain Marvel and Vision.

That's what I meant when I said cheap thrill. Same as easter eggs. Something done to please the fans that has little bearing on the story.

so do you expect him to show up in the next film wearing his new glove? It didn't tell us anything and will probably have little bearing on the upcoming stories

Actually I do expect him to keep showing up, wearing the glove and gathering the gems/stones. We know the locations of 4 gems/stones; Asgard, the Nova Planet, with the Collector and on Earth with Vision. Vision will probably be one of the last one's he gets, but with Thor Ragnarok and another Guardians movie coming, I can see Thanos in both movies working to get the stones. With Doctor Strange, the Inhumans and Captain Marvel we might see the other two stones. Phase 2 was basically the fallout from the Avengers and putting the stones into play. That mid credit scene was basically the setup for the background of Phase 3, Thanos' Quest for the stones. It was a great geek moment.

Thanos will likely show up in Asgard to get one gem. Maybe set off Ragnarok in the process. Probably raid the Nova Planet as well. That'd be an end credits scene. Just show hundreds of dead soldiers and Thanos with the gem in the gauntlet. Maybe then he battles the collector for the next gem, obviously winning. Then he gets the rest and lastly he goes to Earth to rip the last gem out of Visions forehead.

Greatest post ever. Thank you.

Whelp, I guess I'll take the last post on the page /:

Anyway, I'm surprised they kept the same design of the easter egg Infinity Gauntlet from Thor, instead of coming up with a new design.
