How would you do Marvel "One Year Later"?

The Batman said:
They're pretty good. Definetely have alot of surprises to them. i especially like that you cleaned up all the steet level heroes running around and kept the really good characters. I, personally wouldve taken the chance to put marvel's biggest characters in the Avengers book, but the international team works too.

Well, Marvel's biggest names are Wolverine, Spider-Man,a dn The Hulk. Hardly an Avengers team, I'd think. The international aspect makes more sense to me, since they're supposed to have an international scope.

Spider-Man OYL

*Spider-Man has become a menace once again, due to the fact that he outright refused the metahuman registration act. Peter is finally moving ahead with a career in the science field. He takes pictures for the daily bugle to pay for his spider-man activites.

*Aunt May died sometime during the missing year, as, IMO, shes really served no purpose since coming back from her death in ASM 400.

*Spidey's rogues have decided to team up with each other to watch each others backs. The leader of this group is Doc Ock. Norman Osbourne has fallen off the radar.

*The totem stuff and Sins past are heavily retconed or forgotten.

*Spider-Man is at odds with the likes of the Avengers, Iron Man, etc, over the civil war debacle. He only talks to street level heroes like Daredevil and Black Cat.

The Batman said:

I get sins past, but why the totem stuff? Those stories were pretty cool.

X-Men OYL

*The Government has allowed Xaver's X-Men to still fight crime, only because they believe the X-Men are the only way mutant-human relations will improve.

*Cyclop's and Storm co lead the public team of X-Men, which include Wolverine, Emma Frost, ShadowCat, Beast, Colossus, and Jean Grey. Scott is the only headmaster of the school, as well as leader of the X-Men.

*Jean Grey has somehow come back from the dead...except this time, without her phoenix powers. She has no idea if she'll ever get them back.

*Scott has a secret covert team of X-Men who travel around the world thwarting mutant terroist operations. The government has no idea of this team.

*There's a new brotherhood, a secret underground where mutants come together to lash out at humanity. Magneto has disappeared, and so has Charles Xavier.

*Piotr and Kitty are finally a couple.

It just complicates that which does not need to be complicated. IMO, the idea that peter was chosen to be spider-man ruins the story. Before, he was just some schmoe who was at the right place at the right time, which fits more with what they tried to do with the character.

I don't see how it ruins or complicates it. It doesn't change anything about his past. It's just giving a whole new feild of **** to deal with. And really, after 40 years, you have to change things up a bit to keep things interesting.

The Batman said:
Questions got it. Matt grew up in Hells Kitchen. His crimefighting goal is to make Hell's Kitchen a better place. It's like taking Batman out of Gotham City.

It's OYL...it's not like it's gonna be permanent

But it doesn't make sense for Daredevil in the first place. He would not leave Hell's Kitchen. He just wouldn't.

The Question said:

That is the point of the story is to get him out of a familiar setting. Put him in situations that he isnt used to.Infact I really dont see DD as just guarding Hells Kitchen. I see him as a guarding NY....but as I said it wouldnt be permenant just until the OYL ended

But the thing is, he is the gaurdian of Hell's Kitchen. And he would never leave it. It just doesn't make sense. It's out of character. Now, if it were someone like Moon Knight, that's be cool, since he's not especially tied to his neighborhood.

The Batman said:
No offense, but i didnt make this thread so you can bash DC's storyline techniques. This is about how you would handle the Marvel universe if they jumped ahead one year. Besides, I believe that marvel already had done something like this before with secret wars, but i'm not sure.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know all answers to your question had to fit into your guideline of appropriate responses. You asked a question, and I responded to your question. Not every answer is going to give you warm, fuzzy feelings. And, I didn't bash DC's storyline techniques....if you noticed, I am currently getting all OYL storys, just as I've been buying everything linked with Infinite Crisis before that. All I did was state the reason I wouldn't do OYL, Marvel style and why DC is doing a good job with OYL right now.

MK would be in Los Angeles....
Cap would be based out of DC
X-men would be moved to Massachusetts
Powerman and Iron fist would be out of Detroit
Dr. Strange would still be in his apartment but I dont really see him as a superhero anyhow
The Avengers would be in DC also
Iron man would be out of San Fran

I, personally, would keep Luke and Danny in New York. I mean, it's till a rather large city. Having one, maybe two vigilantes for each major neighborhood wouyld make a certain amount of sense.

Wolverine believes "there can only be one" and goes around decapitating every mutant on earth stealing their quickening so he can be the last mutant left alive. Then Marvel publishes only comics with Logan in them. Mostly he just sits around, scratches his butt, says things about 'bub.' Ah one year later, how I pine for you.

Well, looking at how things might end with the Civil War, I got a few ideas for a Marvel OYL.

The State of the MU OYL

Avengers
Iron Man
Ms. Marvel
Dr. Pym
Ant Man
Song Bird
Juggernaut (With his powers back to normal)

OYL the Avengers are controled by the U.S. government now, and Tony Stark is miserable. Caps in jail awating trial for Treason, Spidey is on the run from the government, Aunt May and Jarvis are dead, and it's all his fault. Now he's in charge of an Avengers team that is entirely under the control of a corrupt President. ( Who seems to be more than he appears. ) Starks forced to hunt down his fellow heros. Imprison them. He's not the only one who feels this way, Dr. Pym and Ms. Marvel have made a deal with the devil as well. But they're caught up in this thing and can't find they're way out. Song Bird was an additon to the team at the behest of Zemo. She, of course doesn't trust him or like whats going on, but she does what she's told. Juggernaut was brought in by the President. He offered him his full power back in exchange for his services.

Cap is about to begin trial for Treason, which is really more of a show trial. They're gonna exicute him no matter what. His name has been dragged through the mudd, and the public, who once thought that Cap could do no wrong, is against him. But a desparate Escape attempt is coming together to save the good Captain, by the Thunderbolts?!?

Other heros are either in jail, or on the run. Dr. Strange, has disappeared as far as the world is concerned. The walls to his home in N.Y. were breached by the U.S. Forces thanks to an alience made with Baron Mordo. His access to the mystic arts are being blocked somehow so his powers are muted. He's retreated to the underground along with a number of other heros that are on the run. Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Luke Cage, Nick Fury, Spider-Woman, etc. They make up what is known as....well...the underground. Helping heros and mutants escape from persicution.

Meanwhile, war is brewing between Wakanda and the United States as they are harboring a number of wanted Mutants. Namely, the X-Men. It's not looking good for Wakanda. What with government funded superheros from both the U.S. and possibly Canada with the new Alpha Flight possibly standing agianst them, even the mighty nation of Wakanda would be in danger. But help is coming from two surprising individuals. Namely, Namor and Dr. Doom!

Thats all for now. I'll probally contribute more later.

That's freaking good!!! :)

Heres the thing there is no more 'Hell's Kitchen' it's been cleaned up.

Hell's Kitchen has more 'Starbucks' than 'Waste Management businesses' now.

Those are great ideas.

I especially like the one about Spidey being a menace again and the one about his villains watching eachother's backs, with Ock as the leader

And you don't think Matt would stay around to keep it clean? The only reason it was cleaned up in the first place is because he was beating the holy hell out of the local pushers and gangs. Once he's gone, it's a free ride for the criminal element.

Anyway, what did you think of my OYL ideas on the first page?

dont forget mine which touched off the wildfire because I suggested that DD move to Chi-town

The Question said:
The MU as a whole:

1) The only vigilantes active in New York are Luke Cage, Danny Rand, Moon Knight, Daredevil, Spider-Man, Shang-Chi, and Cloak and Dagger. At the behest of of Reed Richards and Captain America, all other active vigilantes have either moved to other cities or become agents of the FBI, CIA, or S.H.E.I.L.D.

2) The percentage of vigilante activity in the U.S. has droped considerably, simply because after seeing what happened to the New Warriors, the fad seems alot less apealing to most.

3) Alot of super villains have either retired, gone the hero rout, or much more commonly, started hiding under the coat tails of organized crime. No particular reason, besides the fact that being a mob leg breaker offers more protection than being a bank robber. Of course, there are more than a few who stick to bank robbies and smash and grab jobs, and the real psychos like Purple Man and Dr. Octopus are still doing the same old psycho killer crap they always do. Other types who aren't quite as crazy, but still quite amoral, have started working as muscle for terrorist organizations.

4) The street level types still in New York I already mentioned, they form a group together. Not as much a team as a support network. If someome needs help, they call the others. Daredevil calls them the "Urban Legends".

The Avengers:

1) The Avengers are, on paper, a special unit of S.H.E.I.L.D. Before you ask, no, it's not making 616 more like the ultimate line. It's just the U.N.'s way of keeping track of them, which, logically, the U.N. would do. They're basically doing the same things they were doing before, but now they get all sorts of cool toys from S.H.E.I.L.D., and Cap has to file reports to Nick Fury. Speaking of which.....

2) Nick Fury is director of S.H.E.I.L.D. again. He's proven that the current director is a corrupt *****. Yay for him.

3) Because the Avengers are now a much more international group, they've had a roster change that shows this. The current roster is:

Captain America

Red Gaurdian II

Herculese

Sabra

Caprain Britain

Iron Man

Shaman

Namor

Black Panther

Thor

Everything from here up ^ is freaking, Awesome!!! and now the iffy stuff...

and, suprise of suprises, Dr. Doom. Now, I bet your asking yourself, "why the **** is Doom on the Avengers?" Well, Latveria has become a major export of technological goods by now. If you own something electronic, it's either from Japan, Wakanda, or Latveria. The nations of the world don't want to piss Doom off. So when he says he wants to join, they sort of force the team to let him. Now, why does he want to join? Well, as always, he has his own agenda. He's playing the team. The team knows this. But they really can't do jack**** about it. Over the course of the series, what he wants from them becomes more obviouse. And it ain't pretty.

It's something that I'd have a hard time accepting yet, It has major potential.

4) The Invaders. The Avengers are the guys who fight psycho terroirists and save people from earthquakes and stuff like that. The Invaders are the guys who get their hands dirty. The take out terrorist cells before they do anything. They assasinate third world dictators and stuff like that. The roster is:

USAgent

Union Jack

Spitfire

Taskmaster

Deadpool

Black Widow

and The Hulk. The Hulk's participation in less than willing. He's what the higher ups call the "nuclear option". Basically, when things get too rough, he's pumped full of steroids and droped on top of the problem from a helicopter. Violence and much "Hulk Smash" insues.

Q this is my dream book! Kudos!!

Spider Man:

1) Spidey found out that baby May is not dead, but being held by people working for Osborn somewhere. He and Osborn face off one final time, and Osborn died in the insueing fight.

2) Turns out that Aunt May really died, and the Aunt May living with Peter and MJ is a VERY convincing clone. The whole "payed a genetically altered actress" thing was bull****. In the event of Osborn's death, the clone was programed to self terminate. One more **** over for Pete's life by Osborn from beyond the grave.

Not gonna do it for me, I'm not feeling these two at all.

3) There's something stirring amung Spider-Man's regular rougues. Now, they've never really been organized before. They've gotten together for the occasional revenge scheme, but all in all, they're just a bunch of theives and psychopaths who fight Spider-Man alot. The only reason they even fight him the most is because, for some reason, he feels responsible for them. But, I digress. Someone is organizing them. They've begun watching each other's backs. Pulling heists together. They've gotten smarter. Since Osborn is dead, you'd think the mastermind is Octavious. But not even he knows who's really behind it. Nor does he really care. He's just glad to have back up when he's on one of his little crusades to "make the world a better place" by stealing plutonium and squishing security gaurds' heads like grapes.

4) The Shocker and Rhino are not asociated with the new organization. They're not murderers like The Scorpion or Doc Ock. Shocker and Rhino kind of go back and forth between the roles of theives and vigilantes based on their financial situation and what they happen to come across. They're not as much heroes as, if they see that somethings happening where people are going to get killed, they're going to help out. But, they're still criminals. They've actually become rather good friends with Peter Parker, even though they don't know he's Spidey.

Hmm..? Theres something of value in it..I like the possibilities of Rhino and Shocker as a buddy team. I'd rather they sorta befriend Spidey as opposed to 'Peter' it'll be more like how some cops know and kinda tolerate the town drunk or trouble maker.

5) The Carnage Symbiot eventually floats back to Earth, and latches on to a teenage girl named Tracy in the San Fernando Valley. She is, of course, quite exited that she has super powers, and is having much fun with them. The only catch. She's begun hearing voices when no one's talking to her. Seering things that aren't there. She has black outs, sometime slosing several hours of time. And after more than a few of these black outs, she sees on the news reports of particularly brutal murders. And then, one day, after a shower, she looks into the mirror, and she doesn;t see her reflection. What she sees is a rather lanky man, with brownish red hair, and a crookid nose that looks like it's been broken and resent more than a few times. And then, even more suprisingly, he says something to her: "Hello. My name's Cletus."

Alright that is damn cool and creepy! This is probaly my favorite idea and I hate Carnage and Venom and symbiotes in general.

X-Men:

1) The school is moved from New York to Boston, at the request of Captain America and Reed Richards. They're trying to lower superhuman crime in the city, and anti-mutant protestors can get just as bad sometimes with the tech they tend to use. So, Boston, which beforhand had a very small number of superhuman/supernatural crime, becomes their new home.

2) Alexander Riker, a young mutant and hardcore Magneto fan who lost his mutation (which was nothing more than a vistigial third arm. We're not talking major super powered baddie here) because of Wanda's reality ****ing, begins gathering together former Brotherhood members to find away to regain their mutations. Magneto, realizing that his crusade has done nothing but **** with his health, screw with his kids and grandkids, and get people killed, wants no part of it. The Blob, who got major surgury and started working out alot to deal with his incredibly morbid obeasity, also wants no part of it. He's perfectly happy the way he is. Hell, he's got a girlfriend for the first time since he was 18. The rest, however, are much more complyant.

3) Because the faculty of Xaivier's school insist on internveening every time some mutant terrorist or anti-mutant terrorist goes a-killin', the government has sanctioned them as an unofficial anti-terrorism squad, specifying in terrorist activity centering aroung mutant/human relations. Like with the Avengers, they're doing the same crap as always, but now they're doing it legally.

Everything here ^ is damn god and is so perfect for what could happen in 'Civil War'.

4) While Jean is not back, the Pheonix force has fused with Rachel Summers, and she can sometimes hear her mother's voice in the back of her head, giving her advice and the like.

I do not, I repeat do not like these time traveling/Alternate reality/doppleganger/rehashed type mutant characters. So naturally I don't like anything to do with Cable/Bishop/Rachel/Nocturne/X-23/Exiles (although they keep to themselves for the most part.) I just have a adversion to these types.

5) There is only one book about the X-Men, and Wolverine no longer has a solo book. Seriously, it's getting to be pretty ****ing ridiculous.

One X-book works for me, although Wolverine is worth a solo book. No getting around that for all his faults and over exposer, he's Marvel's Batman in the sense any type of story or genre or interpertation of him works.

Fantastic Four:

1) The four have left Earth on a trans-dimensional journy. Basically, they're doing what they were meant to do. Charting the unknown and studying the fantastic. Their trip takes them everywhere from the pits of hell to the gates of heaven, from Asgard to Olympus, from the land of dreams to a universe of computer data, and all manner of alternate realities.

2) Thanos has begun apearing to Franklin when others are not around, helping him learn of the nature of his vast psychic abilities. Of course, Franklin doesn't realize that his new imaginary friend is a genocidal maniac who's got a hard on for death (literally), so he's sort of in over his depth. Thanos also shows an interest in Franklin's little sister, Valeria, sugesting that she also has powers like Franklin's. Possibly even greater ones.

All of the above is really good and that's the FF I want to see.

3) Reed, having lost his arm in a scurmish in Hell and not having the recources at hand to clone a new one, is left with a prosthetic. He's become less of a feild member of the team and more of a behind the scenes leader. He does the scientific investigations, builds gadgets, and studies stuff. If, in the course of his studies, something goes wrong (which always seems to happen), Ben and Johnny hit stuff.

Not feeling this bit, I'm tired of the "let's lessen or weak the four." ploy we had it with Byrne and his She-hulk days and recently with the mini-coming up with one of the Four dying (Sue) I just want a solid Adventure romp with the FF intact and discovering new worlds and alien beings.

All around Q I like it, very good man.
