How would you do Marvel "One Year Later"?

Marvel OYL....by Roach
The Avengers would be aligned exactly the way I described in the Avengers rosters thread.
The X-men would be treated just like the Black Panthers. The government would be doing everything in it's power to take them down with a few prominent Xmen in prison. The X-men would be on the run and not have the mansion or blackbird.

The Fantastic Four will be stranded several billion dimensions from earth and would be trying to get home. They would be a sort of cosmic Swiss Family Robinson.

Freaking awesome! The FF as the SFR!

Daredevil...Matt Murdoch would be disbarred in NY and have to set up shop in Chicago. He would become the guardian devil of Chi-town. We'd see him struggle to pass the Chicago Bar.

I'd rather he stay in NY or move to Detriot or Jersey a city that really needs his help.

Captain America would now be an agent of the Homeland Security and tackle terrorism and terrorist based villains.

Cool works for me, although he does this already.

Iron Man would actually showcase the life of a man that is technologically beyound everyone else. The guy created the IM armor do you really think he'd drive a regular car???? His villains would get a upgraded.

Meh.

Spiderman would have a lot more help since he is the only hero for NY now. That help would come in the form of someone wearing the black Spiderman suit(not Venom), The Scarlet Spiderman suit and The Iron Spidey suit. Peter in his classic suit would try to solve the mystery of who is swinging around the city dressed like him.

Not bad has potential.

Dr. Strange is dead and the new Sorceror Supreme is Adam Warlock. No one knows what really happened.

Hmm...it would have to be one heck of a story for me not to miss Steven Strange.

Submariner would get his own book again as terrorists attack his city. He declares war and goes after the terrorists to the concerns of the world.

I could go more indepth if anyone wants to know.

Not bad with Namor.

The Namor story would mirror image what is going on with The US and Bush. Hopefully it'll get people to see a different side of the story while telling a kick ass story

Everything from here up ^ is freaking, Awesome!!! and now the iffy stuff...

Thanks.

deemar325 said:
It's something that I'd have a hard time accepting yet, It has major potential.

Well, I'd just think Doom would use the opourtunity to use things to his advantage. Really, it's a win win for him. He gets to look all noble and heroic, which will always satisfy his ego, and he can manipulate the team towards his own ends. Besides, who doesn't want to see Doom and T'Challa having a clash of egos?

deemar325 said:
Q this is my dream book! Kudos!!

Thanks.

deemar325 said:
Not gonna do it for me, I'm not feeling these two at all.

Why? Personally, I felt Aunt May's death way back when was perfect, and JMS bringing her back was stupid. And I just want to bring back Pete's kid so he an MJ will grow beyond the cute 20-something couple living in New York thing.

deemar325 said:
Hmm..? Theres something of value in it..I like the possibilities of Rhino and Shocker as a buddy team. I'd rather they sorta befriend Spidey as opposed to 'Peter' it'll be more like how some cops know and kinda tolerate the town drunk or trouble maker.

Well, the thing is, they hate Spidey, Shocker especially. So, it'd be interesting to have him becoming a good friend of the one guy he completely despises and not realizing it. Also, I'm kind of taking the idea from a fanfic I'm reading called "The Shocker: Legit". It's damned good. You should check it out.

deemar325 said:
Alright that is damn cool and creepy! This is probaly my favorite idea and I hate Carnage and Venom and symbiotes in general.

Thanks. I thought it would be cool to have a teenage girl wrestling with a dead psychotic killer for control of her body.

deemar325 said:
Everything here ^ is damn god and is so perfect for what could happen in 'Civil War'.

Much thanks.

deemar325 said:
I do not, I repeat do not like these time traveling/Alternate reality/doppleganger/rehashed type mutant characters. So naturally I don't like anything to do with Cable/Bishop/Rachel/Nocturne/X-23/Exiles (although they keep to themselves for the most part.) I just have a adversion to these types.

You don't even like Exiles? I heard it was a very good book. And one that doesn't effect the main continuity in the slightest.

deemar325 said:
One X-book works for me, although Wolverine is worth a solo book. No getting around that for all his faults and over exposer, he's Marvel's Batman in the sense any type of story or genre or interpertation of him works.

True. But, were I to allow a Wolverine solo series, it would be set during the 60s and 70s, long before he ever met the X-Men.

deemar325 said:
All of the above is really good and that's the FF I want to see.

Thanks.

deemar325 said:
Not feeling this bit, I'm tired of the "let's lessen or weak the four." ploy we had it with Byrne and his She-hulk days and recently with the mini-coming up with one of the Four dying (Sue) I just want a solid Adventure romp with the FF intact and discovering new worlds and alien beings.

Well, It's not trying to weaken the group. It's just, Reed's never been much of one to participate in much of the fisticuffs, and I just thought that future version of him with the big ass robot arm in the wedding anaversary issue just looked damned cool.

All around Q I like it, very good man.

More Marvel OYL ideas:

Daredevil:

1) Matt Murdock is a fugitive. Who he is is known to the public after having been found guilty in court and escaping mid transport. He's currently in Hell's Kitchen, moving from hide out to hide out on a regular basis. He is often aided by the Spawn of Satan, former members of various street gangs who, following Murdock's example, have decided to help clean up the Kitchen.

2) Fisk is out. He's in jail, and his territory has been completely usurped. Due to the migration of New York's vigilante population (almost 90% of whome posed no real threat to the criminal underworld), an as of yet unknown figure has taken the initiative to show New York that it's not the nerds in spandex who almost assuredly never get laid who they should be concerned with. It's the mafia. This figure has only been refered to as "Capi Di Tutti Capi." Translated from Itallian, this means "the boss of the bosses." However, the fact that he has been known to swear in Hebrew suggests that he is not actually connected to the Cicillian Mafia, since said mafia has most often been predominantly Catholic in the past. His organization has absorbed several former employess of Fisk, along with many street gangs. Currentlyl, he has Stilt Man, Mr. Hyde, Bushwhaker, and Nuke in his employ.

3) Elektra, now leading a small group of Hand members, has hired her and her group out to the NYPD, who have put them on a special squad. Speaking of which.....

MU as a whole, part duex:

1) The NYPD has (finally) set up a special unit to deal with the strange and unusual. Before leaving this dimension, Reed Richards gave them samples of his own and alien tech ology to use in their arsenal. Reed, being into non violence as he is, gave them weapons that would allow them to nuetralize targets with minimal bloodshet. Besides Elektra and her Hand members that I mentioned, the unit is also comprised of:

Hank Pym. Tech specialist, weapons designer, and CSI.

Johnny Blaze (who has been freed from Hell by Dr. Strange). Demonology/magic specialist, feild operative.

Genis Vell. Alien culture/society/polotics specialist.

Bishop. Mutant relations specialist, detective, feild operative.

Misty Knight. Detective, feild operative.

Emma Frost (who is no longer head mistress of the Xaicier institute). Profiler.

Matt Liebowicz/Clay Harder (also known as the Two Gun Kid. While Matt Liebowicz is his real name, and Clay Harder is an alias, people go back and forth between calling him Matt and Clay, and he really doesn't seem to mind). Legal consultant, feild operative.

Other cities, following New York's lead, have begun to create other suich units.

2) Sentinels. The U.S. government has re-created the Sentinal program, this time for the use of defense against supernatural events. To insure that no more malfunctions in A.I. occur, the Sentinel's have pilots. Think like Gundams, but purple. Sam Wilson, also known as The Falcon, is one of the main pilots.

Dr. Strange:

The Doc has become a parinormal private eye. He rarely meddles in the afairs of the normal world, and instead delves into the realm of the straneg and unusual. He is aided in his adventures by Blade, Morbius, and Damien Helstrom, who he refers to as his "New Defenders".

It's funny, but Marvel already did OYL. There was year between Avengers and New Avengers. And I think Secret War could be 52. Yea Secret War kinda sucked, but they both explained what happened in that missing year.

i would actually like the registration act to be implimented. i think it could provide some refreshing stories for the marvel characters.

The Avengers
Split apart by the Civil War, the world was forced to endure a year without its protectors, the (New) Avengers. A year later however, as a group of them come together once more with the wedding of Justice and Firestar, it's time for the revival of the Avengers.

Who is the leading man in their reformation? The man they call... Nova. Having returned from space for the wedding of his friends, he sees not only that most of his New Warriors friends have died, but now the Avengers are no more either. Although he refuses to assume the leadership position, he is integral to the forming of the new team.

This decision is strengthened by the return of Thor at the wedding. Awoken prematurely from his sleep, he comes to the Avengers in a weakened state, similar to his usual power, for their aid. Apparently a villain has appeared that seeks to systematically and completely destroy the legend of Asgard.

So, a new group of Avengers gathers in order to travel to the ruins of Asgard, and hopefully stop this villain. Amongst the guests at the wedding they gather their comrades and are thus joined by:

Iron Man, who's identity is secret even to his teammates. Why would he be at the wedding if his identity were secret? He's the representative of Tony Stark, who has been missing for a year now, although everybody simply assumes that Iron Man is Tony. In a last moment change of heart, Tony Stark prevented the passing of the registration act by supplying SHIELD with all of his technology. Stark Enterprises was no more, and Tony Stark left the country in hopes of finding himself. So who is really in that Iron armor?

Giant-Man and the Wasp, who are really the veteran rocks in this new team of Avengers. While Janet primarily leads the team, Hank Pym has taken Nova under his wing, determined to make the young hero into a full-fledged Avenger. Instead of transfixing his insecurities upon himself, which has lead to his numerous breakdowns over the years, Hank has become focussed on ensuring there is a new generation of Avengers to carry on the legacy. It's not making him go insane, but he's really determined.

Captain Marvel, formerly the woman called Ms. Marvel. She's become one of the world's most well-known superheroes during the year that followed Civil War, and a chance to be back on the Avengers? Too good to pass up on. She'd have to struggle with a more defined role on the team, but also with the expectations the others have. Being a hero was easy when nobody had any big expectations of you. Back then, Ms. Marvel went above and beyond her work, same as she does now, but now she finds the expectations more properly aligned with what she can do.

Hawkeye. The Avengers were gone and nobody missed them more than Clint Barton did. He has spent the time since his ressurection (which I'd place at the end of the House of M) on the road, keeping out of the whole registration business. The world's starting to make sense again, but it's one without the Avengers. Hawkeye can't stand for that.

Triathalon, who had to take his time to adjust to a new existence with a better idea of his physical powers, but without the religion that sustained him mentally. He's back in the game and still somewhat arrogant, but now he's out to prove that his place on the Avengers was a deserved one, so he's taking it back.

You've got your founders (Thor, Iron Man?, Giant-Man and Wasp), your Avengers rookie (Nova), your back-from-Limbo member (Triathalon) and you've got your veterans (Captain Marvel and Hawkeye). They'd be the focus of that first Asgard-arc, which would end in the glorious return of Asgard and the gods, and of course, a roster shake-up. Iron Man's identity would be revealed somewhere mid-way the arc, and it would not be Tony Stark. Tony'd still be in Tibet somewhere.

Thanks, roach.

The Champions

So two superheroes walk into a bar... No really. Archangel and Iceman, with the knowledge that at least they won't be hunted for being superheroes, they plan to go out and get wasted. Of course, that's always the opportune moment that you come across an old friend.

Hercules is drinking down the mead and sitting with a pair of fine women on his lap in the same bar that Archangel and Iceman happen to enter. After a night of nostalgia and also a lot of booze, they all wake up in an alley the following morning, dressed in their old superhero outfits.

Quickly getting a newspaper, and avoiding each other's eyes, they find out that they apparently were able to save Los Angeles yesterday evening, while inebriated. That's just the page 5 news though. Front page and center is the the disbanding of the (New) Avengers.

Of course, that was a year ago, and after that moment, the Champions were slowly formed. Now all those months later, they are the team that had to pick up the slack, and they've actually became quite well-known. Based out of Los Angeles, they are the world's hottest superteam. And they're harboring two fugitives.

Archangel and Iceman are the figureheads of the team, the duo that the public swoons for. Bobby is a hit with the young teenage girl crowd, endearing the team to the public while Warren makes sure the team remains financially viable. We're talking licensed action figures and all that jazz.

Hercules, the strong man with a heart of gold and a penchant for some nice ale. Half of the team's finances go to bailing him out of jail after he spends a night out on the town. He's got the power, he's got the experience, and there ain't nobody who messes with this Greek god.

Black Widow, who is one of the team's fugitives, and is therefore rarely seen by the public. Taking a bit from her recent mini-series, the Black Widow isn't all that loved anymore, but S.H.I.E.L.D. (now back under the rule of Nick Fury) tends to keep their other eye closed when it comes to her activities. When it comes down to it, she's the leader.

Daredevil, the other fugitive, but practically a non-member. After being stuck in jail for ages, Matt Murdock was freed by Natasha, who offered him a place on the team and his freedom. The catch? He's wanted and has to stick to Los Angeles, and Matt's not going to be able to bear that much longer.

Power Man and Iron Fist have decided to join the Champions in order to assist their friend, Matt. Using their experience from their Heroes for Hire time, they quickly become an integral part of the team, and best of all, with Luke Cage a former Avenger, they bring in the cash with all the merchandising around them.

It's like a triple buddy-cop extravaganza with a drunken Greek god thrown in. They're the superhero team that is enjoying themselves and still gets the job done, but not without some bickering amongst themselves. Behind the action figures however they remain true heroes, and although looked at oddly, they fill in a niche in the superhero community. Of course, they too would have a roster shake-up in the future, with their own hostage getting loose and the return of the Avengers.

More OYL:

Runaways and the Young Avengers:

The U.S. government has set up a program for young people with powers to be trained,a dn eventually become special operatives. The Young Avengers, having left New York during the viglinate migration, have joined the program as it's first students. The Runaways, who were found and taken into government custody months earlyer, were given the choice of going into foster homes or forcebly joining the program. They, obviously, chose the later. The teams, of course, would be in major conflict with one another. Think, the YA are the nice, polite, private school kids, and the Runaways are the public high school stoners. They don't mesh. Makes things interesting. Were it a perfect world, I'd have Vaughn and Heinberg would co-write it, taking turns on arcs and the like.

The Punisher:

While The Avengers and Invaders are both U.N. sponsored units, the U.S. government wants their own superhuman squad. So, they recruit Frank Castle to head one. At first, he protests, but then they offer amnesty for all of his crimes, and free reign to kill as many terrorists and drug lords that he can. He agrees. Frank, who is injected with a variant of the super soldier formula, gains low level superhuman abilities comperable to Captain America's. Other members of the squad are:

War Machine

Black Goliath (he'd simply be called Goliath)

And most of the Great Lakes Avengers.

This would simply be to expand Frank's supporting cast. I mean, who doesn't want to see him interacting with Mr. Immortal? :D

The Power Pack:

The group has grown up. Only Energizer is still really considered a kid. Mass Master's in high school, Lightspeed is in Hollywood, trying to be an actress, and G-Force joined the military. The family's split up. However, a strange force soon calls them all to New York. There, they meet up, and enter the now relatively empty Baxter Building. They are compelled to switch on a machine, and are transported to another dimension. This will tie heavily into Fantastic Four: OYL. Also, there will be a Power Pack series for younger kids that is not in continuity.

Spider-Man 1YL: Peter is out of the Tower and somehow managed to keep his identity secret, sadly it cost him a heavy price: Aunt May is dead... for real this time. MJ is making more and more of a name for herself on broadway, supporting the family fully, giving peter more and more time to be Spider-Man. After a fight with MJ Peter finds himself abducted/picked up by a group of shadowy figures. Peter Parker, not Spider-Man, quickly finds himself face to face with the Mad Thinker, Dr. Octavius, Dr. Doom, and other assorted Marvel geniuses. they have seen Peter's tests, and heard Otto's testimony. they have formed a think-tank dedicated to "Deposing the moronic Champions that infest this planet" (Destroying all super-heroes). They want Peter to become a part of this, none of them knowing the truth that Peter is, infact, Spider-Man, though Dr. Doom seems to have a dangerous smile behind his mask. This would focus more on the fact that Peter is brilliant than the fact that he has spider-powers. also, more marital problems as Peter joins this Think-Tank as a double agent without telling MJ.

Captain America 1YL: Nomad revisited. he doesn't change his costume this time, but he has renounced himself. Steve, after having watched the his country attempt to destroy some of his closest friends, has become disillusioned. He was by no means naive to the sort of people who ran this nation, but he didn't believe they would so callously try to destroy his allies. In his stead, John Walker has taken back the mantle of Captain America with the utmost of smugness, with his Invaders usurping the title of Avengers.

Champions 1YL: Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, Ms. Marvel, Danny Rand, and Sentry, refused the Registration act, and the Avengers fell apart once more, only to be replaced by the Invaders. the former Avengers have re-established themeslves in Chicago.

Matt Murdock 1YL: No longer able to hide his identity or his powers, the world knows that Matt Murdock is the guardian of Hell's Kitchen known as DareDevil. As the dust from the Civil war final settles, Matt continues donning the costume to fight, but now his cases are growing more specialized, and they seem to become more important than his masked work. He begins to take more and more cases against Meta-humans.

X-Men 1YL: they X-Men are now Pariahs in both the human and mutant world. to late they realized that siding with O.N.E. was a mistake. Most of their roster is gone. only Cyclops, Emma, Colossus, Kitty, and Nightcrawler remain. the others are either dead, or have left to Genosha to rebuild the once great nation under the begruding rule of both Magneto and that guy from the 198. the 198 themselves are, for the most part, the happy citizens of Genosha, though there is disent among the ranks. the only ones there who might be able to sort things out are the X-Gene Security Enforcers. X.S.E. is back in buisness. still headed by Bishop and Sage, they are followed by Arclight, Mammomax, Leech, and Cannonball. among the dead are Beast, Husk, and Dust.

Iron-Man 1YL: having chosen to play both sides of the field during the war, Tony nearly lost everything. The only friend he has left when we rejoin him is Brodie, back to pull him out of the bottle. thats right, Tony has relapsed into severe alcoholism.

Fantastic Four 1YL: a new challenge has been added to the lives of Marvel's First Family; Luna Maximoff. Crystal has asked that her long time friends look after her daughter, who is banished from Attilan because she illegally used the Terrigen Mists. in exchange, Crystal is sending them gold from the royal vaults, drops in the bucket to them, but enought to get the Richards out of debt and then some. Laying in the infirmary of the Baxter Building by the way is Namor, comatose. no one knows how he got that way, but his vital signs haven't shown improvement since he was admitted sixmonths ago.

Guardians of the Galaxy 1YL: after the distruction and chaos sown by Annihilation, many have chosen to band together. Nova, representing many species who submitted to the authority of the Nova Corp, Hannah Connover Queen of a large family of moderatly docile Brood, Kl'rt new Emperor of the the New Skrull Empire are trying to build tentative alliances. sadly there are those that would oppose peace. the Kree, the Shi'ar, and the rest of the Brood are determined to bring about the end of this alliance. the wild cards? The Silver Surfer still rides the space-ways, as does the Unitified Empire (A collaboration of Skrulls and Majesdane forces under the rule of Xavin, another super-skrull).

Ok since everyone was up in arms over me moving Matt out to Chicago i'll come up with a new story......
Daredevil OYL.....Hell's Kitchen is cleaned up. It appears that Daredevil has a strong handle on crime. It appears that he is moving his operation to New York city as a whole. Why???? Matt is the new Jonin of the Hand and uses his authority to stamp out crime....but he is opposed by Stick and his organization. You cant use Darkness to stamp out darkness and Matt has begun his descent....and what role does Elektra play in this???????????

Not sure about some of those ideas,Question. I like the idea of Runaways and Young Avengers being more...independent. I'd like a YA/Runaways crossover, but not sure about the government wanting them as operatives.

Well, the YA would be all for it, and the Runaways would despise being forced into it. So there's a conflict there. And, of course, there'd be a story where they get out of it.

No. They seem rather indifferent towards them. Besides, they'd see it as a chance to prove themselves.
