How would you Fix a character?

I would buy it a whole hell of a lot more than Kara Zor-El being a constantly grating obnoxious snotball who everyone's supposed to love anyway, cause z0MG she's SUPERGIRL.

Well, that's just unfair. I think they TRY to fix things...they just end up breaking them even further. They're like Lenny from Of Mice And Men that way.

Hey, all Lennie ever did was squeeze some fieldmice until he killed 'em. To compare to Marvel, he'd have to be cutting the mice open and make, like, party decorations out of their innards.

Um...minor requeset...can we stop calling Diana "Wondie"? For some reason it makes my stomach curdle. Kind of like the word for vagina that rhymes with "bunt." That word also makes me stomach curdle.

... I think that was the first time I've ever called her Wondie.

Dude. It's a comic book. Fictional universes have their own scientific laws. Ever notice how in Star Wars, there's the slight problem of constant thrust for starships? Or how lasers make sounds in space, even though in space, no one can hear you scream? It's because the Star Wars universe has its own rules.

Um...I...Yeah, I'm...OK, what now? Are you so invested in your theory that Superman should be scientifically accurate, that my metafictional rebuttal of it has brought out in you some latent monarchist/individualistic rhetoric? Or did you just read a T-shirt in Hot Topic?

Either way, I fail to see how my disagreement with you on the necessity of accurate science in fantasy fiction has any bearing on the question of my own conformity to societal norms, or on my education, or on any such weighty concerns. This discussion should stay within the realms of things that actually pertain to it. I think that's a pretty fair thing to say.

It's mismatched...the top part is red and gold, and the bottom part is star-spangled...patriotic-ish, which is odd cause she's amazonian...not American. She had a pretty unified costume in DC: New Frontier by Darwyn Cook, or Wizard's Ultimate Wonder Woman design:

Maybe make her costume more like Roman body armor, or something like that.
Plus the red/white/blue idea was meant to be her attempt to win the public over. Trying to show she is a hero and to be trusted, wasn't it?

I like the New Frontier's Trojan War armor skirt. I think it would work best for the book and definately for the movie

I agree, I don't really like the Ultimate Wonder Woman costume, not as much as the New Frontier costume.
Her costumes in that story were great, they fit her character and did everything you were talking about.

I'd start with cleaning up his comics line.
Detective Comics, Batman, LOTDK would survive.

Detective Comics would display Batman's Detective skills and have crime-noir type stories it also would have more of Bruce Wayne and Bat's relation with GCPD and Gordon.

Batman would be more action flavoured. Both books would feature Alfred, Robin, Nightwing etc. from time to time.
Artist I'd prefer would incl. Breyfogle, B. Blevins, G. Parlov.

LOTDK would feature a re-written history. Taking into count, fav's like Y1, TLH, DV, Monstermen and The Monk.
It would focuse on how Bruce came to be Batman and feature tales like Shaman.
I would do everything to try and get Mazzuchelli on it for the first story arc.
The second would have art by Tim Sale and the third Darwyn Cooke.

Batman would be around 35 to 40 (Batman and TEC), grimm but not bitter.
He would not be a brooding selfdestructing character.
Something along TAS only a bit more brutal towards criminals.
Being more a mentor to Tim, a father to Dick and a friend to Alfred.
Gotham City would still think of him like a myth...

Wipe the slate clean no Batman mixing up with meta's (no Superman, WW and no JLA) or aliens. No Earth 2 etc. Just Batman based in a "real" world.

How about resurrecting Gotham Knights, but as a more strictly defined "Batman Family" type series (I refer here to the actual Batman Family ongoing series that lasted for 20 issues in the 70s) about Batman's sidekicks? Are you also talking about quashing the Robin, Nightwing, and Oracle books?

Impossible. Batman is too connected to the rest of the DCU, through his own actions and through the actions of others around him, to be removed from it except by COIE-level rebooting. Birds of Prey, Oracle, Ra's Al Ghul, the Joker, Robin, Nightwing, these are characters with implications in the DCU that reach very far. Probably the closest you could come to this particular vision of Batman is to leave his current books as is, except for All-Star. Restart All-Star, or cancel it and start a new one, that reimagines Batman in a setting all by himself, with no DCU around him. You just can't take him out of the DCU, for sales and for story purposes.

At the same time, having a DCU Batman and a non-DCU Batman running at the same time would be confusing to everybody. Best to leave this idea alone.

The re-written history is necessary just to keep this new Batman's origin transparent. I would explain his quest to become Batman.
The original LOTDK concept was awesome but a lot of stories didn't have that Year one feeling.
I have another idea, place it in the future. Batman is about 50/60 years old and it retells major events like: Knightfall, No Ma's Land etc. but this time try to put it all in a nice contuinty. These arc don't have to be duplicated but he could sort of think back in flashbacks.

As for Impossible...well in comics nothing is impossible.

Nothing major...just a tweak or two. I would just like to see a more unified costume...like eliminating the blue and stick with the gold and red motif...or just eliminate the stars...as I said, she's Thymesciran (sp?) so a star-spangled anything on her doesn't make much sense...and the stars are too busy anyway.

I just think she should wear something that's less mis-matched, and just a little more simple...She almost borders on tacky...

how about cleaning up his rogues gallery. re-establish certain classic villains and make them a little more contemporary, without getting what makes them unique. get rid of some of the lame villains like the ventriloquist/scarface, and maybe add a one or two new villains that are an actual thread to batman, his allies and gotham city.

Dr. Fate: Instead of having a lameass grand nephew or whatever, lets bring back Kent Nelson and make him THE Sorcerer of the DCU...a guy that would make Dr. Strange pee his pants. Get Neil Gaiman or something to do a 5 issue mini series. I'd make Fate one of the big players in the DCu, the guy you see in another heroes book.

Also, a similar sentiment goes to many DC characters. Alot of DC fans seem to equate power levels with how good the character is. Superman doesn't have to rip apart galaxies to be a good character. He just needs to be Superman. A good, noble person who serves as an inspiration towards everyone. He should be very powerful, simply because that's the role he fills in the DCU. But there's no need to take it so far that his operating on Earth the way he does makes no sense.

Teen Titans: I'd bring back Connor, De-Age Bart, and bring Static into the Team and the DCU. In fact, this would be my roster:

I'd get a writer, probably joss Whedon or Allan Heidberg who can write the trials of teenagers and also superheroes. I wouldnt use Deathstroke or Brother Blood for at least a year, and try to create some new supervillains and threats. Teen Lantern would be a new character who joins the team. I'd kick off members like Cyborg and Raven because this should be a new era of Teen Titans, not a retread of previous ones.

Also, to add, just in case anyone misunderstood: The main reason I'd like to see this is because I think people concentrait far too much on these (and other) characters' feats. Their feats are not make them who they are. Their personalities and characterizations are what make them who they are. The second reason is that I think if you make their feats too fantastic, you forgoe logical storytelling for the sake of "WOW" moments. That works for some stories, but it doesn't work too well for serialized, mostly serious stories with characters who deal with the threats that Batman and Superman do (the idea being, if Batman can figure out the White Martians' true identities, sneak into their base, and defeat four of them single handedly, how is The Joker ever a threat to him?).

Interesting idea. Although, how would you bring Static into the DCU?

I'm not too big on that, because:

1) Anything explained with Superboy Prime punching things is a good deal suckier in my opinion.

2) Having the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman around lessens the importance of many Milestone characters. Though, it might be interesting to fuse the Justice League and the Shadow Cabinet together.

The Stranger's got it covered. And that's fine by me, Fate's cool, and should make appearances in others' books as well, but the Stranger is the badest assest badass magick in the DCU. No matter what John Constantine says.

If you don't have him deal with any super humans, then you loose his great interactions with them.
Like his teaming up with Superman, they are so different and so the same. They are such a great team up.
You'd miss ideas like Superman and Batman having a mutual competition of who can find out the others identity first. (from Superman/Batman Annual)

Or Superman telling the white aliens that Batman is the most dangersous human alive.
Or the Tower of Babbel idea, of Ras using Batman's fail safe plans for taking down every JLA member (Incase he had to)

Cutting out all the Super human elements like that really limits the stories.
