I think bad mouthing the films that brought you success as well as being an annoying *****ebag will get you axed from Spielberg's circle. He still just shot a film with Brad Pitt though so maybe people in Hollywood think he's such a great actor and box office draw that he can do whatever non Spielberg film he wants?
