I'm pretty baffled by the sentimental tone of this trailer. Barnum was a pretty awful person. He's history's prototypical huckster, which is a cynical status at best. At worst he was a man that bought an enslaved woman, marketed her as George Washington's 160 year old wet nurse and had her publiclly dissected upon death. I find the whole "man shows a group of freaks their worth" angle really offputting here.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. And the new trailer doesn't make the film look any better.

'The Greatest Show' is an actually great song, but the I didn't like how they chopped it up in the second trailer. They should've just used the song throughout the entire trailer, just like they used 'This is Me'.

My friend saw it this morning and really enjoyed it. Said she was surprised the reviews were so harsh.

Going to catch it over Christmas week with my mom. Soundtrack is pretty good.
