"[Director] Michael Bay talks to me on the phone. I've never met him," Weaving said about the first two installments. "We were doing the voice for the second one and I still hadn't seen the first one. I still didn't really know who the characters were and I didn't know what anything was. It's a voice job, for sure, and people assume I've spent my life working on it, but I really know so little about it."

Read more: To clarify, when it came time to voice the second film, Weaving not only didn't see the first one but was also unsure who he was voicing. But maybe he's getting more immersed into the franchise now that "Transformers 3" is in the works. "They're not making Transformers III, are they?," said Weaving, confirming that he couldn't possibly care any less.

:hehe:

LOL, well he only does a voice for it. He had what like, 15 lines total in the first one?

This isn't very unusual especially for voice jobs like this. Pretty funny if you ask me.

The ironic is that Weaving sounds like he knows as much about Transformers as Bay does.

Orson Welles had the same reaction when he did a voice for the original cartoon movie. He didn't really know what he was recording for but some toy movie.

I fail to see what makes this newsworthy. I've played on a crapload of albums that I would never personally listen to, but I get paid to hang out in a studio and play guitar so I'm happy.

Well Paul Bettany didn't know he was in Iron Man until the movie came out...

Why should he care? It's not like he's living from paycheck to paycheck with voice work for the TF series, and it's pretty nondemanding.

To be fair, this is the same Orson Wells who got drunk off his ass while filming a wine commercial! :hehe:

Except for Optimus Prime, none of the other TF gotten any meat in the story, so I'm not surprised that Weaving didn't know or couldn't care about another TF movie. Maybe if Bay would stop treating the TF like ornaments for the actors and write them like real characters, voice actors like Weaving would be more involved.

Reminds me of Elijah Wood saying in a promotional interview for Flipper that the only reason he did it was because he got to play with dolphins.

I can see the PR people backstage being

:wow::doh::cmad:

Which kind of makes me go

:hehe:

Gotta love actors blatantly not being able to care less about some of the stupid parts they take, and really, if Hugo Weaving never bothered to watch Transformers, he didn't miss anything.

Ah, that was hilarious. :hehe:

I suppose in some ways it is not surprising for a voice role he took a paycheck for and not seeing it. Though I hope he saw Babe, because his voice and that film were tremendous.

I would also add that this reminds me of Keira Knightley promoting Atonement in late 2007 and early 2008 and getting her Oscar nomination. They asked her about seeing herself so differently in that and the Pirates movie of 2007 and she revealed she never saw the third Pirates movie, but thought "it must be good." :hehe:

Why should he care about a Michael Bay film? If I were him, I would be doing it purely for the paycheck too. I can't imagine any actor in those movies caring about the product they're making.

Its shows me they take very little attention to there work. Sure maybe some actors don't watch there films but if your gonna act i think if was me i would take pride in my work good or bad the out come and show some intrist to each project.

I am sure real Voice actors know what there voice is going to for often they have a drawing or image as to what they are voicing

this is true for almost every big budget blockbuster.

Yeah but it shows how very superficial actors are today. The old days Actors took some pride in all there projects

Orson Welles was one of those old actors and he did the exact same thing. He voiced for a Transformers film and he could not possibly care less about the material.

Even the best actors eventually end up doing jobs just for the paycheck. Just look at Michael Caine or Jon Voigt. It's not a product of modern superficial actors, it's something that's always going to end up happening.

Yes cause Orson Wells cared about every film he ever did.

Freeman is in the batman movies for the money. fact

Same with him in Wanted and narrating so many other movies as well. He cares more about Invictus than Batman, really.
