No, I like his head buzzed, it made him look younger, and it just seemed to fit Johnny alot more. Actually made him look cute ^^

Do you want him to have more hair?

I hope so, if Jessica can dye her hair and wear blue contacts, he can let his hair grow out.....but I don't want him in a wig or anything....but grow his hair out and more blond....yep....makes him closer to his comic counterpart in my opinion.

I'm just tired of how he has his hair.. I was fine with it, but now it's.. eh. I've been seeing that type of hair around a lot and it's just boring to me now.

His hair is fine now, but it would be nice to see him alittle closer to the comic character, also he looks much younger with longer hair, which in my opinion was the biggest and actually only problem with him and jessica playing brother and sister....

I don't think they'll make Johnny look younger. We have to believe that he's a former NASA pilot. What would be more sensible is for Sue to look as old as Reed. But we know the marketing people won't let that happen.

One thing I hope is that they don't try to make Johnny like Spiderman, and have him "learn lessons." Johnny is supposed to be carefree womanizer. I thought Chris played him exactly right.

Johnny is too young to be a womanizer, that's disturbing :(

Sue is 11 years younger than Reed in the comics...so she is supposed to look quite a bit younger than Reed......Johnny is a younger brother....he should look like a younger brother....I don't mean make him look like a 16 year old....

Former as in he washed out of NASA....not former as in he flew for NASA for 20 years and retired....

But the comics are completely out because no one would believe a 16 year old would be taken to outer space. There's just no way to make Chris Evans look significantly younger than Alba without it looking stupid.

You can only join NASA after a time in the Air Force so Johnny can't be that young in the movieverse. He has to be at least mid-20s.

Wow, you really didn't read what I wrote then did you....I said younger, not a 16 year old, but younger.....never said significantly younger, but with longer hair, he does look YOUNGER....thats the key....not the amount of years, just YOUNGER.....:)

I think he has the buzz cut to make it easier on the FX team, the same reason Mystique has slicked back hair in the X-Men movies.

Hmm..you know..I can't think of a single thing I want to change for him...I thought he was fantastic.

I want to see more than the one-liner Johnny....and that will be in the writer's hands....

Maybe longer hair....

Now this is a potentially controversial theory of mine, and if anyone finds it offensive please just PM me and I'll happily edit, but...

I felt there were two appearance differences made for Johnny that possibly have a very specific reason behind them. These are: short, buzzed, dark hair as opposed to longer blondness and actually having body hair whereas his comic counterpart seems perenially waxed.

I personally assumed these diversions from the source were to make him look "straighter."

As in a Chris Evans with a shaved chest and bleached hair would not be considered sufficiently masculine enough.

With everyone trying to look for Batman & Robin innuendos, a name like The Human Torch, a fan base made primarilly of adolescent males (what group could be more insecure about their masculinity?), and a film aimed for a 'family' audience inviting gay jokes would not be a good thing.

Do with it what you will, but they seem to be very conscious choices based upon some reasoning, as I can remember the outcry from back when it was revealed he wouldn't be blond in the first place.

Hair dye is cheap, so there is some reason they chose not to do it.

I by no means find your theory offensive, but I do think it's interesting given the discussions about Superman Returns's marketing.

It didn't strike me as though the marketing avoided possible homoerotic implications of The Human Torch. After all, the two major marketing pushes for the character were him shirtless wrapped in a women's pink coat and him saying "Flame On." It would seem like those would be two things you would want to downplay rather than promote if you were worried about homoerotic subtext.

As to the character, Johnny is less of an outsider than other superheroes. One of the comic book tenets that implicates homosexual subtext is hiding one's true identity. Johnny embraces his fame. It does't make him more better or worse, it's just different.

Ok, how about we move on....
