Well, we all know the inevitable winner of this poll, but I'm going to make it anyways to see how the results turn out. Yet you never know. A lot of the options are very tempting; we had a great year on the Hype and some great films to show for it.

Which is the best Superhero/Comic book film of 2008? Why do you think so?

In order from best to worst...

1. The Dark Knight
2. The Incredible Hulk
3. Iron Man
4. Hellboy 2
5. The Spirit
6. The Punisher: War Zone
7. Wanted

1. The Dark Knight
2. Iron Man
3. The Incredible Hulk

  1. The Dark Knight
  2. Iron Man
  3. The Incredible Hulk
  4. Hellboy II: The Golden Army
  5. Wanted
  6. The Spirit
  7. The Punisher: War Zone
I've seen nothing outside of promotional materials of the last two, but they look like something that'd have me demanding my money back from the theater manager ...and that hasn't worked for me in years.

Best to Worst...

1. The Dark Knight
2. Iron Man
3. The Incredible Hulk
4. Punisher: War Zone
5. Wanted

I haven't seen Hellboy II: The Golden Army or The Spirit yet. I'm sure once I see Hellboy II it'll jump up on my list.

I say Hellboy II: The Golden Army. I loved it.

TDK just barely edges out Iron Man for me.

Liked the first four, did not like the last two. Have not and most likely will not see the Spirit

IRON MAN ALL THE WAY!!!!

Spirit, while I wills ee it, isnt really the Spirit and WANTED was about as far away from the concept as you could get.

The Dark Knight is going to win this poll with an unfair advantage.

Now, when I think about my choice, it become a bit of a tough question. Best Comic Book FILM, or best COMIC BOOK Film. There's a difference. One is the overall best film (The Dark Knight), and the other is the film that captures the world of the comic the best. Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk really showcased the movie world of Marvel, whereas Wanted essentially spat on the original book.

For 2008, I find that The Dark Knight is the best overall in both categories. That said, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk come in close second for COMIC BOOK Film.

So, my list:

1) The Dark Knight
2) Iron Man
2) The Incredible Hulk (YES, it's a tie)

I still have yet to see Hellboy II, and I won't bother rating the others, considering they just fall short.

I was originally going to omit TDK from the poll as an option, given that it will obviously win the poll, but I figure it's equally unfair to omit the deserving winner.

TDK > Everything.

Just as Batman > Everything (especially Spider-Man).

No words.

The Dark Knight by a large margin, then Iron Man and Hellboy II.

When it comes to translating the literal characters and settings from a comic book to the screen with little to no liberties taken at all, Hellboy 2 wins that hands down. Putting Iron Man and Bats on the screen without changing a few items would be next to impossible, but because HB's world is so out there and Del Toro does that type of thing, it was the most faithful to me.
