None of my Arab/Muslim family members take off Friday (it's not required in religion). They also fast every Ramadan even though it is much harder in the US. Basically in the middle east, during fasting they change the schedule of everything including restaurants/shopping/etc... to accommodate everyone practicing. In the US it is much harder to fast because obviously schedules are not changed around in the same manner as it is not the predominant religion/way of life in US.

It's kind of funny to have Arab/Muslim family, and then see someone try to give me a speech on being accepting of other cultures

Wait, what? No, I gave a speech on the fact that people in different parts of the world operate on different schedules than those of us here in the US.

Arab/Muslim people in the US probably follow along with most societal norms (including work weeks) but are given concessions for religion should they need them.

And... Please tell me how I wasn't being accepting of other cultures? I'm pretty sure I was trying to help educate other people who might not know about the differences between countries that aren't the US... Which would generally indicate that I'm at least understanding if not accepting of other cultures.

I'm an atheist. And I know more about religion than most people. That's sad.
