Hype survivor - the return

backstabber?

haha jk
remember how "intense" we were during these games? i'm not biased, but one of my favorite rivalries for sure
Kipobe and Erz are legends as well

I'm like Luke Skywalker in exile and CC is Kylo Ren.

I would love to see the archives from the game on LSP. It's a shame they got destroyed and eaten by the Internet, never to be seen again :(

I'd also love to see the early games on the site that were lost in the Purge. Survivor is the main reason I fought for that Archive sub forum tbh.

Agreed. I like goin back and looking over old games. Helped get ideas when i was hosting

It got ugly several times, LOL! I think it shall definitely go down as one of the game's greatest rivalries! I don't see how it can't. Particularly the game we made finals. Though I lost, it was a great cat and mouse game. It was fun times, and I do look back on all the past games very fondly.

My favorite moment was when I played you both all the way to the win. :awesome:

You got me in Survivormania. But I did beat ya later ;) I do take pride in that i was voted out 3 times before you guys actually eliminated me, lol.

JewHob is proud of that, but man he could throw some shade back then haha

i don't know how i feel about that?

i always thought you and Holly were my Yodas. Who better to learn the game from than a Sith and Jedi? haha

I'm genuinely a nice guy... but cross me in Hype Survivor and I will make you miserable until the end!!!!

I don't even remember most games. I remember... like... two things. The year I played you two and beat Spoons for my win, and my second ever game where I made a newb mistake and let my nice guyness get the best of me. I made a pact with Spoons and Pickles, who were rookie players at the time, to go after all the big named people first and try to convince everyone that it was other people (namely Matt). The strategy worked and we took out some big names the first two or three weeks. Then we took out Matt who was our "ally". I felt I owed him an apology for the dirty play thinking he'd understand the game play. He then took my confession and made it public and I was eliminated a week or two later as a result. Thus the one blemish on my Making-the-Jury record. Lesson learned.

I guess I also learned that day how to throw shade. :)

I was goin back earlier and reading through 2 games i hosted. You played in those and got railroaded in them, especially in Oscar Night, lol! Oh the epic survivor meltdowns I was rereading :cwink: So much more fun watching it all unfold from the host perspective than being in the thick of it sometimes. Last game was oddly boring in that way, though. Outside of when there was a move made against Kal in jury, you, me, and Kal largely went unchallenged. Went too smoothly lol. This new game needs more drama!

I just went back over the last season since I remembered nothing about it. Reading my final speech on the season, my 2012 self convinced my 2017 self that I totally should have won! :cmad: I now remember how difficult that "Art of the Throw" strategy was to pull off. That was a fun strategy to play.

I don't think there's much of a "community" the way there was during Survivor's hey day.

CC and I were thinking of doing one together, but then we both just got busy.

Let's do it, I say we offer Shadow Boxer a temp acct and if he can win then he'll be allowed back (until he gets himself banned again I'm sure).

Yeah, that's true. Heck, I barely frequent the site let alone Community. Then again, games like Survivor were a big part of how strong the community was back then. It builds relationships (and animosity). In fact I think the majority of friendships I developed on hype was through Survivor.

I didn't know Shadow Boxer was gone. When did that happen? I'm so out of the loop on who's still here and who's gone.

Bruh, you have no idea haha. SB went off the rails Bible-thumping (I'm sure you're shocked) but then he made so many fake accounts harassing mods, members, and posting nonsense all over. A few other PBU tried to follow suit as well. Got so bad now when any new member finds the community lounge/politcs section quickly we all side-eye them trying to figure out which PBU it is. Ends up being a PBU about 80% of the time too.

SB even sent me a Bookface message to say he wasn't internet stalking me (no, I'm not Bookface friends with him). :lmao:

I would really like to do this. In terms of participation, we are kind of right on the point between enough interest and not quite there.

Never the less, I think I might give it a go. This weekend, I am going to put together an outline for the game and start recruiting players to fill holes.

One idea I had to fill holes is to kind of adapt two of the TV show's better seasons and do a Fans vs Favorites type. I think that would be a good way to restore the game and bridge the gap between classic Hype Survivor and a new generation. After all, you put a bunch of newbies who weren't even on the Hype when Survivor was played on a tribe with vets and the Newbies will get picked apart. In fact, I really believe that this is what caused the game to go stagnant. The same 5 or 6 people dominated every game. I think Fans vs Favorites format gives newbies a chance to find their footing in their own tribe and let's veterans compete with each other at a high level, right off the bat.

But for that to work, I would need a tribe of all newbies (which would run the risk of the players losing interest, quitting, etc) and a tribe of all veterans. But I'd want it to be quality vets. I would love to see some combination of Erzengel, JewHob, Spider-Fan, Hunter Rider, and CC on that tribe. If I could get commitments from a few of them, I think my interest and motivation in crafting the game would increase exponentially. Hell, just talking about it in that format gets me excited. So let me have the weekend to start reaching out to those who expressed interest and recruiting others and we'll see what happens!

What the heck...

Let the backstabbing and late night cry fests begin! I'll give it another go.

I also very much agree about the same veteran players always running things making it stagnant. Hopefully enough time has passed where we can get a new generation making runs for the final 2. Your idea for the new format would greatly help that I think. Force us veterans to tear each other apart before we can do anything with the newbs and help them find their feet.

I'm looking at you D.J.!

It is a hard thing to do, especially when the other guy is doing the same thing you wanted to do that is preventing you from doing it and forcing you to be more involved!!!! :cmad:

Seriously though, you played a great game that go around. I totally banked on sympathy votes lol!!! Paid off ;) But I do feel like I deserved to win also, so it wasn't a pity victory :)

I wish that I had more time to committ to a full game, but alas, I just don't have that time :csad: Besides, I agree on the front of the game needs new blood and badly. You are on point about last few games being dominated by same people, and that is a big reason I want to not be involved as a player. I do not want to see that happen and discourage newer players. Besides, my resume is already fairly padded :oldrazz:

That said, I am 100% on board to judge and/or co-host a challenge if you want me too.

man if this ever comes to fruition, it'd be epic

I actually agree. I agreed to play to get bodies to play and for nostalgia reasons. But I'd actually much rather newbies play the game and would be happy to sit out so less experienced players can get their chance. And yeah, I'd be all for helping out if I weren't playing.

How much commitment would this game require? I'm interested in participating in a relaxed way. Meaning not really caring about winning and seeing how far that gets me. :D

In my experience the more you put into it the better you do. If you don't care about winning and just want the experience then it might take an hour a week accumulated. It'll shift by week depending on the challenge.
