Hypesters who live, love, play Pokemon GO

I wandered around a legit forest with trails and whatnot last night. When my buddy came to scoop me up he said I was over two miles from his house haha. it was a cool trail but a little sketchy so late at night and in the dark.

I have observed people in NY riding public transportation while playing to be in AC instead of outside in the heat.

I play it on the bus all the time, really could time waster. Specifically, if you pop off an incense and lucky egg. Easy way to grind and level up.

Really??!?!?
You didn't noticed that that percentage was a hyperbole?
Do you actually think i know everyone on the planet?

The point of my exaggeration was that the majority of people on this planet are sheep.
How do i know that?
Easily, look around...people like to follow one another and trends

No, I really thought you knew 90 percent of the planet. Now I'm disappointed. Get off that ivory tower, stop explaining Tool lyrics to friends and relax. It's just a game.

But really, to say most people are sheep is eye roll worthy. There's a nostalgia factor that comes with this game. A lot of people don't carry around Nintendo DS's or whatever handheld console that's out now, so, naturally this is easier. It's kind of dumb, it's kind of fun and it's useful when bored. I walk dogs in Manhattan and play it to kill time. Used to love Pokemon as a child so it's fun for what it is.

Seriously....i don't care for this game.

I never played a Pokemon game in my life, i don't remember ever watching a cartoon episode all the way through, i really don't care for it...nor do i play games on my smartphone.

Even so, i can see merit in this game, except for the fact that human beings are ridiculously stupid, 90% of the people on this planet are sheep; and as such, instead of playing this game here and there, they created a blind craze where people only think about it and "to catch them all".

Someone got the Charizard before you could get there. I'm sorry man. :D

I read a CNN story about someone that walked off a cliff while playing the game. I'm not posting the cliff notes, ya'll gonna have to go and find the article.

I hop on trends sometimes. Does that make me a sheep? I don't care. I pick and choose.

So how many Pokemon out of 151 have you all caught. So far I am 36/151

I've caught 67. Would've been 68 but Onix is the one that got away.

Seen 39, caught 38.

Tauros ran away. Also had one or two Pokémons (Geodude I think) I haven't gotten yet that I couldn't click on them because servers crashed. :o

I don't even play, but from what I've of others playing this is so true...

It got my kid off the computer and outside. This is the kid who's afraid of bugs and constantly complains it's too hot to do anything outside. I'm looking for a way to combine this app with cutting the grass.

he can use the distance he walks to hatch eggs and get more pokemon
(note: i'm still 6 pages back, so someone else may have already answered this)

how come no one mentions any of the good things that Pokemon Go is doing?
there's a lot of people being active, yay
i live at the biggest base in the world, a lot of vets with ptsd or people with social anxiety are getting out of the house and meeting people to play.
our area has a huge fb group of 5000 plus. people organize meet ups in different areas once a week, area clean ups/pokemon hunts, etc
there are also people who place lures at the library here (there are 3 pokestops at it) for the kids to come play in a safe public place
there's also a guy who paints pics of pokemons and hides them at various lures in town as gifts for whoever finds them. another guy makes decals/stickers

plus, i drive by a cemetary on the way home and i have some relatives in there. the other day i was looking for where some are buried to pay my respects for their birthday. the cemetery is 165 acres and i didn't remember where they were buried. i happened to be under a pokegym, and at the time i had on idea what that was. I looked up in the section i was in, and there was a huge tombstone with my last name on it. i got out and looked and found 4 more relatives of mine that i had no idea were buried there. the earliest one was born in 1855. i'm really big into genealogy, so this was really cool to me. my grandma was really excited to hear it too. she's almost 91 and is interested in seeing them, as well as visiting some of our other family out there.

so in short, some good stuff has come from this game, but you wont hear about it nearly as much as the bad.
in my area at least, it's big positive thing. i've talked to a bunch of people i didn't know and have never met and everyone of all ages, nationalities and all have been playing. i've seen younger teens help older people/young adults play, i've seen the older/young adults show younger kids and their families how to play in gyms, understand the game etc.

and i for one, had never seen an episode of pokemon or played this game ever

The media get to whine about how terrible new stuff is and how awful people are. That's why we don't hear nice things on the news.

Yep. I saw a comment about people complaining how kids were playing Pokemon in the 90's instead of going outside. Now it's telling kids to come inside and stop playing Pokemon.

No matter what way the winds blow, the media will find a way to piss directly into it.

I am not playing or supporting this game. For me it is a waste of time. And it really fleshes out the stupidity in some people (judging from news reports). Having fun outside is one thing, jumping into rivers, trespassing fences and stuff like this is plain stupid. You see, it's some of the people who make me dislike the game, not the game itself.

I knew as soon as the game became a phenomenon that there would be vocal detractors. Yet I hear stories like yours and many positive ones of people playing in groups. The problems coming from the game are like any hobby where some people become obsessed and take thier fandom too far.

I've taken my oldest daughter on two all-day expeditions for capture Pokemon, and it's given me invaluable time with her. I'm planning on driving her to another city before summer ends to see if she can find some of the rare ones that she's missing. I'm really looking forward to that.

Does anyone else game freeze when you turn your phone upside down? I realized that if I turn my phone upside down the game stops working. I mean it shows that my toon is walking but I can't spin the map around and I can't open any of the windows. So I have to make sure when I put it in my pocket it's right side up. Or if I hold it in my hand it's right side up. Anyone else have this issue?
