I actually think Adam West's suit is almost perfect.

Well, thats how Batman looked like in comics at the time

Exactly. Looks like The Brave and the Bold.

I think all of the costumes in the 60's show were spot on. Definitely one of the best things about it. ;)

I think that if there wasnt a campy sixties Batman show no one would have an issue with Batman in a spandex like costume

I was never a fan of the West Batsuit, not that I have anything against the gray tights. I know it's not "realistic" because it's not a bullet proof armor suit but I could care less about that. All what matters is style. Number one the cape looked too short. Number two.... it looked like Batman had no ears in some scenes. Number three.... the eyebrows on the mask looked corny. Number four.... the mask looks too flat as if there's no structure to it. And number five.... if you don't have the physique of a body builder then stick to a muscle-armor suit. It worked for Keaton!

you forgetting the show was made in the early 60's?

The time period had nothing to do with it. Did you even bother to read the post you responded to?

If you're referring to the muscle-armor outfit then it was just a figure of speech (I thought it was obvious?).

has everything to do with it. The Batman of the 60's show looked exactly like the Batman of the comics at the time. He had a short cape, and little ears...hell just look at the pic six posts up and compare that to the Adam West suit.
In the 60's what we consider muscular is different that what we consider to be muscular nowadays....and a muscle suit in the 60's would have looked a billion times more silly than people believe this suit to be.

No.

It was comic accurate but they could have done a better job with the details. It has nothing to do with the time period.

Unlike the Adam West cowl, in that image his ears aren't leveled with the tip of his head. This is why it's hard to notice his ears in some scenes. BTW when I said the cape looked too short I wasn't suggesting it should drag to the floor.

Obviously you don't watch many shows and films from the "goo ol' days". I could make a big list but I'll narrow it down to The Adventures of Superman and the Batman serials. But it's funny how you took the muscular suit so literal. Like I said, it was a figure of speech.

BTW I have nothing against gray tights and I know they were on a limited budget however I still think they could have done better. We're not debating facts, we're debating opinions and nothing's going to change what I think of the Adam West Batsuit.

In the future, I would love a blue and gray suit in a movie.

To me, the perfect Batman movie would be this:

- Schumacher's Gotham from Batman Forever.
- The serious tone and acting from Nolan's films.
- Batman's suit is strictly from the comics.
- It's still a kid's movie, but it's serious enough for adults.
- Nothing TOO adult-oriented like Batman Returns.
- Suspension of disbelief, but NOTHING campy or silly or ridiculous.
- The soundtrack from the Animated Series.
- Don't be afraid of COLOR. Where Nolan stuck to blue and brown tones, and Burton stuck to black and white tones, I want to see some creative purples and oranges and greens in Gotham. In other words, Schumacher's Gotham didn't bother me at all - it was the bat-suits and nipples, and the terrible acting. If you press the Mute button on your remote and ignore the nipples, the movie looks gorgeous. Nolan's films are kind of cold and lifeless when muted.

Basically:
- Nothing from Batman & Robin.
- Nothing from Burton's movies.
- NONE of the suits from Burton, Schumacher, or Nolan.
- Keep it PG-13.
- Keep Nolan's tone and great acting.
- Keep Schumacher's Gotham from Forever.

I don't think there's ever been a perfect Batman film, but I think there's been a perfect Batman when you combine elements from all the films and mix it into one thing. One movie has great color, another movie has great acting, another movie has a serious tone, another movie is campy and stupid, another movie has terrible acting, another movie looks cold and dark. They all have something perfect while also having something that completely misses the mark.

I would actually prefer having the Gotham City from the 1989 film instead. That production design truly gave you the sense that Gotham was a major hellhole. The problem with the Gotham in the Nolan films is that sense they want to make things as realistic as possible (basically, it's Chicago standing in for Gotham), the city itself is no longer a character too. While I like Bo Welch's designs from Returns, it was way too claustophobic (and too obviously placed on a sound stage) for my tastes. The Gotham from the Schumacher films just didn't seem as much of a dangerous and decaying place to live (I suppose that they really wanted to make a comic book come to life with all of the bright colors) when compared to the Burton films.
