I have seen CASINO ROYALE & this is what i have to say (Heavy Spoilers!)

I just got back from seeing it, and I LOVED it. Sure, anyone could've called that that would be my reaction, but I really thought it was a fan-****ing-tastic movie.

I love that they made an actual movie this time, rather than squeezing a story in between an assemblage of franchise formula checkpoints (flirt with Moneypenny here, banter with Q here), and that they pulled the reins back on the quips that Die Another Day took to the extreme of lameass-ness.

This one had actual scenes! Conversations with some good dialogue! Bond's interplay with Vesper is great, and at various times either brilliant, beautiful, or heartbreaking. Eva Green may now be my favorite Bond girl.

Speaking of favorites - Daniel Craig was a great Bond. And yes, right now I'd say that he is my favorite Bond since Connery.

The movie is long. At 144 minutes, it is officially the longest Bond film ever. I can understand how that will be an issue for some, but as an obsessive Bond fan I was rooting for this long of a runtime. The more Bond the better. The movie never felt slow or overlong to me. It was more like an all-you-can-eat Bond buffet that I blissfully pigged out on. ;)

So there's a whole lot of gushing. But the only negative thing this movie brought to mind for me was worry about the quality being kept up for Bond 22. They can't go back on auto pilot, and I hope they don't go right back to formula. Don't make stereotypical assembly line "Bond movies" - make good movies that star Bond.

I rather enjoyed the silloutte figures fighting during the opening credits.

Another highlight of the film for me was ...

..Bond breaking into M's house!

Hey Guys, Just came back from the film and I have to say it was pretty good. It did have faults though.

Likes

Eva Green: She's really the Heart of the film . She brought such a tenderness to the film that I didn't expect . If there's one thing I'll remember about Casino Royale it will be her performance.

Craig: I thought he actually got better as the film went on. When they let Craig be Craig instead of a silent killer , He works . The best films I've seen Craig in are when He's sarcastic yet vunerable . IMO they should have given Craig more lee way in the first half of the film . Brosnan is still a better Bond IMO , but I think Craig can make the role his own if they take the reigns off him. It seemed like the 1st half was written before they cast anyone in the lead.

The Villian : I thought he was good . I don't think he was the best Villian ever but he was good.

Plot : Very good but a little too sketchy at times . The humanity is what makes this film work.

Dislikes

Theme Song: It wasn't that good, but then again Madonna, lowered the bar so much, that "You Know My Name" sounded like "Yesterday".

The first half: The critics seem to prefer the aspect to the rest while for me it's the opposite . For me the film began once Eva Green entered the picture .

Overall , A good Bond flick . It put it with OHMSS, FRWL, and TND. While I don't think Craig is the best Bond since Connery , I'd like to see him do his own thing for Bond 22.

The Toronto Star (like so many other publications) gave Casino Royale 4 stars out of 4, while finding room to admonish Die Another Day and the previous Bond installments. However, I have an original newspaper clipping of The Star's review of Die Another Day, where they gave it 3.5 stars out of 5, calling DAD "the Bond we like to see."

Although Casino Royale was an amazing film, I find a striking parallel to Goldeneye. And much like GE, CR's legacy won't be decided now and maybe not for a few years, however it's gotten off to a good start.

disappointed.

I went in with an open-mind, looking forward to a more realistic take on bond *lets face it dad went wayy ott* but the thing is...it just wasnt that well-written.

It was like watching a whole movie of the "serious" parts of a brosnan bond, without any of the fun. If youre going serious you gotta back it up with decent dialogue and serious drama and twists.

The plot was a little simple for my tastes.

Now...before I get flamed, I thought "wow daniel craig can seriously act" and for the first time bond is definately a bad-ass....but I just kept thinking *especially during the torture scene quips* that craig has painted a great character..but...something just doesnt feel right....this guy just isnt bond. as hard as I tried I just couldnt buy him as james bond.

I didnt miss brosnan whilst watching the movie, but when the lights went up I really did. Id take golden eye or hell even tnd or twine over this anyday.

LIKES: vesper lynd-great bond girl. Bond being a bad-ass. Bond making mistakes/vulnerabilty. le chiffre. the poker game.

DISLIKES: DJ Dench shouldnt have been cast in this one...found it too distracting. Theme tune. set-pieces never really got me going. chemistry between lynd and bond really wasnt there- dinner table scene. corny dialogue.

am afraid to say it....but I guess I like my royale with cheese.

Amazing. Purely amazing. The ads saying "Bond is back" actually tell the truth. I went into this movie with high expectations, and still was blown away.

DC in one movie is a better Bond then Brosnan, IMO. Just wow, he was a beast in this. I mean I don't see how some people hate this guy. He makes Bond the scary hardcore killer agent he is.

The opening credits were so fresh. I for one was growing tired of the naked women silhouettes in every opening. The gun shot barrel was perfect(finally had a reason). And the retro colors really set the mood.

Eva Green. Not only a beautiful Bond girl, she is basically his equal. Loved her in this movie, her part is what made the film.

Le Chiffre. Now I see why my poor xw2 has a man crush on this guy. Best Bond villian in a loooong time.

I could go on and on, this movie is not only one of the best Bond films in a long time, it is an excellent film that will hold strong years from now. 10/10

Oh yes, the ending. Me=*liquid explosion*:O

I just got back from Seeing CR and I have to say I really enjoyed it.

I'll also start off by saying that I have never been a really big Bond fan (I watch the movies but don't own any, and while they're fun, I am definately not a die-hard).

That being said, I really liked Craig as Bond. I know many have said they don't like him as the choice, but I thought he did a great job in teh role. He was somewhat ruthless and still had those certain moments of charm Bond is known for. This is actually one of the things I liked about CR, the fact that Bond wasn't as smooth and charming as he has been in previous ones. He didn't have a witty little quip for every single kill or anythign like that.

My only real complaint with teh movie is that I wish it wouldn't have had Texas Hold-em in it. I heard it was originally baccarat and I wish they would have kept it that. I love playing cards, but I am getting tired of seeing them everywhere, and I think baccarat would have helped the film stand out more. Other than that the only other complaint was that I wish we woudl have seen more of the car, ut that's just more of a wish than a complaint.

Overall, I really enjoyed this film and I hoped that Craig's performance will help ease some the the unrest for some people.

you have got to be kidding me.

My only regreat is that they didn't really mention what Bond was going before he got his 00 status. I remember hearing something about SAS but i'm not sure it what contect it ws used.

just saw it tonight and loved every minute of it.
no cheese. no script dumbed down in typical hollywood fare(I've been spoiled by 'The Departed').
I'm happy to see a Bond film where I was able to watch a spy get out of tricky scenarios using his common sense and not some gadget Q gave him.
If this is the kind of films we can expect from this franchise I'm game. The studio followed through with their declaration of a relaunch;this film bears absolutely no resemblence to any other Bond film out there. In fact, if you're a fan of old Bond-ism you should avoid this. Should you want to see a well thought out, well written action flick with the Best Bond yet & with quite a few surprises then see 'Casino Royale'. Never before have I watched James Bond kick butt like this.
Good times.
9/10

Just got back from seeing it and it was absolutely incredible!
the audience I was with even applauded at the end and laughed at all the one liners

my mom even said that "this guy was tough!" and both my mom and dad commented that he made brosnan look like a sissy haha( and they were even brosnan fans)

campbell does it again he brings a new bond into a new age

last time(goldeneye) it was reintroducing bond after 6 years so we got the gadgets and everything to boot basically "movie bond"

fastfoward to today and we've seen bond and now we want the book adaption

good job to the cast and crew

Pfft. Brosnan was an excellent Bond. I generally hate bandwagoning.

Anyway, Craig was quite good as Bond. Not sure if I'd say better than Brosnan yet, but certainly better than Moore, Dalton and Lazenby (though anyone who utters him in the same breath as Connery should stop breathing with that).

That said, it was A GREAT MOVIE. Possibly the best of the recent Bonds (its tight between this and Goldeneye). I'd definetly put it in my top 5 Bond films. It took Flemming's best book and while injecting it with needless action and explosions....IT NAILED IT.

Terrific movie from start to finish. I loved every bit of it and Eva Green proves with every film what an underrated talent she is.

i also loved the "tuxedo" scene . It made it look like it was james bonds worst enemy with the building up of the music

after saying that CR revolutionizes the Bond franchise....
And even after considering that CR is THE BEST Bond movie....
my only FEAR now is that

we might completely LOSE & MISS the good old elements of the Classic Bond movies.

Sometimes, we watch Bond movies for its escapist factors. Sometimes, we want to watch a Bond movie with really weird villains and mind-blowing technology. Sometimes, we love the popcorn aspect of Bond.

Oh anyways, let's enjoy THE NOW for now, shall we...

CASINO ROYALE: THE BEST Bond Movie
:)

Casino Royale blew my gonads off
With a carpet beater!

I agree. This movie was exactly what I wanted. Slimmed down, no invisible cars, not too many one-liners. This movie officially puts Brosnan in the same category as Moore and Craig in the same one as Connery and Dalton.

Judi Dench felt more energetic in this CR than she did in the other four movies.

Dench's best 'M' perfoprmance, imo. Can't wait for the next one.

Loved it.

I did feel it dragged a little towards the end but that doesnt really matter.

I  Craig

So wait, was Vesper really using Bond al along? Or did she have true feelings for him? I'm a little confused, was she in co-hoots with Lechiffre? Remember she didn't know the password either, so Bond being tortured and her screaming in the other room could have been all part of her plan to begin with to get the password from Bond...only things went south for Lechiffre.....

She had feelings for him...thats why she kills herself, over guilt.

the scene where he has his heart attack...she didnt have to save him, you know....

..true. But she did need the money.
