I like Titanic

It's holding a LOT better than those two. It'll end up grossing $10M-$15M more than those have, once all is said and done. That said, I do find it puzzling that it's not going to top TLK's re-release gross domestically, let alone come close to equaling it. But it's holding well, and it's already made back the money Paramount and Fox spent on converting and re-releasing it.

But if you look at it from a worldwide perspective, Titanic 3D won hand over fist -- over $200M and counting, versus TLK's $178M.

Mine was a point about the "low" domestic numbers and that Hunger Games fad I'm guessing eclipsed Titanic a bit seeing as like Titanic really banking on women/girls seeing it. First movie in a long time to stretch to #1 for 4 straight weeks.

Picked up the BR a few days ago...it's really a beautiful film. I'm glad I had the opportunity to see it remastered in the theater last April. The special features are awesome.

Agreed. I finally got around to watching the bluray last night and was blown away. It's 5 star quality in both video and audio.

I saw the blu ray the other night. It's astonishing to look at and most of the effects still hold up today. I guess Jeremy Sisto was in the running to play Jack. That wouldn't of worked as good.


Also Leonardo DiCaprio has a noticeable absense from the special features. I was kind of dissapointed.

After 15 years, I finally got a home release copy (Blu-Ray in this case) of Titanic. I've avoided it like the plague since only watching in the theaters, but I got pussywhipped into getting it. After putting up with garbage like Twilight, Titanic ain't so bad now. I'm impressed they were able to fit the whole movie on 1 disc!

I hated how they changed the official cover so I had it changed back to the 3D poster:

I fell in love with this picture. Instead of the romance, this puts the focus back on what the movie is supposed to be about: a disaster.

Also Leonardo DiCaprio has a noticeable absense from the special features. I was kind of dissapointed.

He has a love / hate relationship with the movie. From what I understand, he appreciates the movie and all the opportunities it gave him, but at the same time..sort of wishes his career went in a different direction. In the 90s, he was the critically acclaimed indie boy, and then Titanic turned him into this teen heartthrob. Leo got a lot of flack from haters because of it (I would know because I was one of them) kind of like how Robert Pattinson does now plus I think the record breaking movie had some hinderance to his career and he wanted to be taken seriously as an actor instead of only being known as Jack Dawson so the next thing you know, he grows a goatee and tried really hard the following years to be all bad ass (He didn't win me over until Blood Diamond).

Officially, he was probably too busy to do any new interviews, but I wouldn't be surprised if he still distanced himself from his most successful movie.

Little tip...saying this to girls, that Titanic is your fav movie...never fails at winning their hearts. Straight up

The problem wasnt that it wouldnt hold them. The problem was getting onto the thing. It was a chunck of bouyant wood floating on water. They had nothing to support their weight on to allow them to gain leverage and climb on the thing. As we see in the movie when they both try to get on it their unsupported weight flips it.

Now obviosuly they could have kept trying other ways of getting on the door problem being tho that it was below freezing water in the north atlantic in close proximity to an ice field and the air temperature would have been around freezing. In those conditions a healthy person will die in 15-20 minutes. Rose was exhausted which decreases that time. By her staying in the water trying other ways for both her and jack to get on the plank she decreases her chances of survival. Jack would have realized this and Remember he had fallen into a frozen lake as a kid. Cameron said it himself that Jack knew Roses only chance of survival was to stay on the plank. He wouldnt have let her keep trying to get him on the plank because if she had fallen off even one more time it could mean her life. Cameron also said when Jack moves to the side of the planks and holds Roses hand he knows at that moment he was going to die. He didn't care whether he survived. He cared that Rose survived and that she kept hope that both of them would survive.

Considering all the factors it played out in the right way. If Jack hadnt had past experience in freezing water and hadnt cared as much for Rose he may have kept trying to get on the plank at risk of her falling off but he did care and he wasnt going to risk her life.

Just saw the alternate ending on youtube. It is terrible, and I mean really terrible. It undermines the whole point of the movie in my opinion, makes it seem like its all about that necklace. I was actually surprised at how bad it was.
