I Spit On Your Grave to Be Remade

Why remake this thing? It has no discernable market-value outside of a small cadre of gore-hounds, so why not do something similar (albeit original) with a slightly different backdrop? Is this the next phase of horror: Small-town rape revenge tales? Yeesh.

Well, I'd definatly be uncomfortable and scared out of my mind. In fact, I already have that script typed up. Sad little story....

But anyways..I think the idea of 'revenge' flick horror needs to be explored freshly in today's society. It's virturly empty territory. Take away the gore, take away axe murderer and focus on the torment ane emotional pain set by personal events and let it build into a monster that not only you fear, but welcome with open arms.

Of course, it would be a drawn out path purely hanging by suspense (Hollywood lost that term decades ago), but the moment it hits...you're hooked.

And take away the out-dated cartoonish rednecks.

No redneck, white trash, clique characters. Or mutants, or monsters....just extremely raw real characters. Maybe not even cast 'break out' actors....just cast from unknowns.

And no WB/CW nitwits.

Guess I'm the only one who bothered watching this.
The redneck characters weren't overdone, but it still banks on the stereotypes of sadistic country folk.
This was a tight little piece of cinema, the rape and humiliation stuff was severely difficult to watch, never saw the original but I can't imagine it being much worse than this.
Never in my life have I hated characters so much, just utterly despised them, and it makes the payoff so much more rewarding. The ways she gets back at these guys, although implausible, are completely gratifying.

Looking at imdb I see this movie bombed horribly, budget of 1.5 million, gross of 92k!

I think in some ways this film is better than the original . I didn't like how she disappears for a portion of the film, that made some of it implausible for me. Nice kills though.. I squirmed a bit.

Totally unrealistic in that regard. A girl who has just been violently brutalized, is in complete shock, can barely walk, how can we really believe that all a sudden she can hold her breath indefinitely, wade through murky waters and somehow avoid 4 dudes intently searching for her... But yah, grain of salt with that one as well as how she'd be able to orchestrate everything she did. But man oh man was I rooting hard for her!
Wonder what happened with the sheriffs daughter though?

Just watched this movie last night with my fiance and I too was wondering what happened with the sheriffs daughter?

I thought she threatened to made her watch the rape tape or doing really bad things to her.

I know she abducted the daughter to bait the sheriff but I don't think she actually did her any harm. Probably was just playing mind games with him.

Was it hard watching this with your fiance? Definitely not in my top ten pick for a date movie, then again you've already got this one locked down :oldrazz:

That be awful, and pretty much pointless. I can condone violently killing everyone involved in raping her, but as soon as she touches a hair on that little kids head it sort of ruins the whole thing for me, must be an answer to this somewhere.

If I remember we don't really know if she was just bluffing or not.

Hey, this movie needs wtv money it can make!
I wonder how many people will never work in Hollywood again due to this film, I mean it made back less than 10% of what it cost to make, that is an astronomical bomb!

It's good in a way, otherwise it might of encourage other directors to simply exploit the rape angle.

The first one (the remake) was good. Haven't seen part 2, but part 3 which stars the same actress and is a direct sequel to the first one was pretty good. I liked Sarah Butler in both the first and third ones.

I hope Sarah Butler makes another one, where's she full on vigilante. She could be the modern day Charles Bronson of the Death Wish series.
