With damn near every decent horror title either remade or slated for remake, I it should come as no shock that Meir Zarchi’s 1978 cult-classic I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE is getting the once over routine.
According to the folks over at horrormovies.ca, CinTel have indeed acquired the rights to the polemic rape and revenge tale, and in lieu of harsh exploits in R-rated horror these days, producers aim to keep the subject matter in the just as appalling as its predecessor.
For those in the know not, I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE (also known as DAY OF THE WOMAN) is about a young female writer who secludes herself on a lovely lake to find a little inspiration. What she finds however, is something a whole hell of a lot more sinister. A gang of rape-happy, ragtag redneck inbreeds, to be precise. Once molested and left for dead (many times over), the young lady turns the tides and serves her fair share of bloody comeuppance.
No info as to when the film will commence production, or what kind of talent will be associated with it. My guess is Megan Fox is an odds on favorite for any leading young lady role these days. Who do you see in the role?

I've heard a lot about I Spit On Your Grave, they say the rape scene is pretty brutal and hard to watch.

I've heard alot say its alot more brutal then the original last house on the left and that movie was pretty damn brutal.

I'm a fan of the original, but honestly, the only thing that I'm concerned about is how Hollywood handles the graphic content. Really hoping that they keep it on par with the original, but I'll wait and see where it goes.

As for it being a remake, "Savage Vengeance" already moved into this particular territory with a Z grade sequel. It basically followed the same plot, had the same lead actress under a fake name, and really poorly done 80's effects.

I think the last house remake was really well handed. But it was more of a known film then this one.

Yey....more rape stories! I LOVE RAPE STORIES! RAPE IS SOOOO FUN! I cannot wait to see the RAPING!!!!!!!

Boobs that rape? Or raping boobies? You can never tell with these things. :(

Wasn't there already a thread for this flick? Or is my mind getting hazy?

I like that they want to keep it brutal, but if they're aim is to have it R rated...meh. I Spit On Your Grave is fully a NC-17 flick and unless you get a great screenwriter and good director who can manage captureing painful and sick material in a R rated scope..then I really think this will be a toned down version that won't hold any credit to itself.

I've seen the original, and it was pretty brutal back in its day. By todays standards the rape scenes are actually rather tame. When compared to movies like Death Wish 2 it's actually pretty mild. The revenge scenes are far more brutal. If done right the remake could be really good, especially if it's rated R or NC-17. We'll have to wait and see.

As for Megan Fox starring in it, I wouldn't mind seeing that. But will she consent to doing a nude scene? I know some actresses refuse to ever do a nude scene, and a nude free rape scene or faux nude rape scene just wouldn't cut it IMO.

Yeah, the original last house was low budget and amateurish i guess you could say. Since it was just filmed in people's houses and backyards.

I was referring to the original I Spit On Your Grave actually, although it applies to the original Last House as well.

Oh, and Irreversible stomps the hell out of any movie as far as brutal, unnerving rape scenes.

What is it with you people and rape?!
Honestly, I didnt car emuch for the Last House remake, as I kind of got sick of the rape scene going on so long. yes it was realistic, but still. As for this movie, never seen the original, so I don't know if I'll see this or not.

So I guess you didn't see the hills have eyes remake. It doesn't show anything, but its brutal as hell.

I actually did see it. Funny though, I don't remember that rape scene bothering me as much, but I do remember it now that you mention it. That was a decent film.

The violence is kind of meant to sicken you, it certainly wasn't meant to elicit a "whoa...cool!" reaction.

The thing is, with rape, you dont need to SEE it to FEEL it.

For example. Watchmen. It worked. We saw Sally the whole time. That was all we needed.

Hills, we didnt see much, but we saw close ups, and heard noises. We FELT the pain.

But with House....ugh. I did like the movie, but jesus christ what a super long and pointless rape scene. We didnt need to see the thusting, and humping.

A wide angle/close up of the girl would've sufficed.

Rape is a great tool for a revenge film...but it must be used correctly. It cannot border super tastlessness.

You should feel the pain, but not feel like "Ooookay, we get the idea...". Then it fails,.

I saw the original years ago. There's no need to remake this film because it's just powerful enough. I can understand why "Last House on the Left" was remade, even though Wes didn't direct himself. But I believe enough has been said about the subject.

Now, superheroes who are secretly abusive to their spouses or lovers is something I could watch.

I have the original, but I haven't watched it yet. I should.

All I can say to this is news is: *yawn* another remake of old horror film. I'm not holding my breath.
