Ok, I have been in an argument today over a story in the news. Back story here, most members know I'm a Juggalo. I think most people see me as an ok guy too, I don't really know. I also know that most Juggalos don't have a good reputation with members here. The reason I'm saying all this is this news story was posted locally today:

Body of Juggalo found in Ohio River

AP reports

CAVE-IN-ROCK, Ill. (AP) - A body pulled from the Ohio River between southern Illinois and western Kentucky late Sunday was dressed as a Juggalo, a follower of the band Insane Clown Posse, which held its annual gathering of the Juggalos in Hardin County over the weekend.
The body has been identified as Jesse Waters of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Waters went missing Friday.
Hardin County, Illinois Coroner Roger Little confirmed Waters was dressed as a Juggalo.
A news release from Kentucky State Police at Henderson state Waters was found in the river in the Sturgeon Island area of Union County late Sunday afternoon. An autopsy will be conducted Monday.
The KSP was also called to the south bank of the river in Meade County on Sunday, where boaters spotted a body. The remains were sent to the state medical examiner's office.

Now for the past few hours I've been in an argument with several people over Facebook over the fact that a ton of hate was spewed because he was a Juggalo. That was what they focused on, not that he was someone who lost his life. Do not get me wrong, if he was on drugs or doing something stupid, etc., I still do not think he deserved death but I don't support that stuff. But it just keeps going on and on about how stupid they all are, and how its stupid to defend one dead person, etc. So am I wrong in defending someone because a life was lost, and defending them in light of them being judged for what music they lsitened to. I don't know the guy, I don't know what his lifestyle actually was, but I think human life should outweigh whatever the guy was into in life. Its kind of like the Amy Winehouse thing, where everyone said they expected it, and how stupid she was. But it was really sad that no one could, or apaprently no longer would, help her get back on track. Her life was over at 27, and that is sad to me, same with this story of someone much less famous.

You are not wrong. A life was lost and that should be the final say in the matter. Whatever music was listened to certainly doesn't matter to the dead anymore, so why should it you, (the ones you argued with)?

There's a lot of language so I can't post the facebook convo, but I'm sure you can find it through the link. Point being, I had the one guy throwing religion at me constantly, and despite me listening to ICP and such, I'm actually a pretty religious person with a few differences in my beliefs. There's the other guy, which I admit I took wrongly at first in thinking he was bashing the dead guy, when he was actually bashing everyone. Point being, I gave up after a while, but there was so much hate just because of what he liked that few really seemed to care that someone, a person who was someone's son, friend, boyfriend, etc. was gone.

I just hope the magnets didn't do him in.

I never understood the hate towards juggalos. I know juggalos and they've been pretty cool people.

I've never heard of those things. Is it an American kinda thing? Do you dress as clowns? Sounds like I'm taking the piss but it's an honest question.

Never heard of the term "Juggalo" until this post. But I completely agree with you, the persons lifestyle or their interests should not come into play. A loss of life is a tragic thing and should be seen as much.

Not a Juggalo fan. But I dont see why they would deserve to die for it....that's silly.

I hate Avatards, but I dont wish death upon them. Maybe i'd like their computer to die so i'd never have to ever read their stuff ever again....but I digress. :o

I've seen videos of Juggalo's on youtube and I've just laughed at them. That being said, this person didn't deserve to die at all and anyone who is arguing different has some sort of moral issues.

Also I don't see why the article has to say 'body of Juggalo found' rather than 'body of local girl found.'

To be fair to the article, being a Juggalo is a much more significant thing to be than having just any hobby or taste in music. Their lifestyles are usually lived in a specific Juggalo way, whearas most music tastes don't inform the majority of people's lifestyles. There's also been a quite high percentage of Juggalo's who use Juggalo philosophy (possibly a perverted version of it? I'm not sure) to promote violence and death. That's part of the reason there have been so many stories about Juggalos that went on killing sprees, or murdered family members, etc, and said they were doing it because that's what they believe they should do due to being a Juggalo. Not saying they're correctly following the "Juggalo Way" or whatever, but there certainly have been a high number of incidents like that.

Also, they think magnets are magic and impossible to explain with science.

Probably because they found the body dressed like a juggalo clown.

Anywho, I am not a fan of ICP or the Juggalos, I hate their ridiculous "music", but like everyone said, a person is dead and thats sad.

Also, does no one watch Workaholics?

well to be fair, if the small detail of her being dressed as a jugallo was removed from the article, neither yourself or the people on facebook would have spotted her death.

i mean countless people die all the time but the news never report what they are wearing at the time. I suppose the person who wrote the angle is trying to suggest or imply something without having the kahunas to say it, leaving it up to the reader to make their own implications off the article.

to be fair, it's sad a lady lost her life but it's a shame the journalist is exploiting it as well. i would say take the high ground and end the argument by simply stop replying to it.

The incident happened on one of their Juggalo meetings... as said in the article

Just Google Imaged 'Juggalo'. They are clowns! Almost.

Nice to see you, Rain.

How does a person lead a Juggalo lifestyle?

Can someone explain in full what a Juggalo is?

I actually thought that it meant male prostitute.

You're thinking of Gigalo.

I went and read a little about it.

Seems harmless enough.

To the OP, you need to rethink what kind of judgemental people you're keeping as friends.

Ok to clarify a few things on this, the argument was not amongst my friends, it was among a group of people posting ignorant things about the death of someone on the news sites Facebook page.
Another thing is the juggalo-lifestyle thing. I wear the shirts and sometimes the hats, I love the music and have been to a couple shows. The rest of my life is likely not much different than you guys. I got a job, I have a family, I post here, etc. Others take it differently, some paint their faces all the time, some do hardcore drugs. Honestly a lot of it comes down to the individual. Hell violent j, one of the icp duo, loves Michael Jackson and most people can't imagine that.

So these are complete strangers?

Were these the types of comments that you objected to? If so, you're taking it a tad too seriously. People are always going to make jokes, no matter the subject.

While not so much that, more of it was stuff like he deserved to die for what he liked, there were a lot of those kind of jokes, but there was also some very hateful things said to just be hateful. And yeah, the argument was with complete strangers.
